    Thanks for a really useful review. I have been very happy with my OPNs for quite a lot of years now, so looking to buy a new pair. Oticon immediately came to mind and this review answered many of my questions, especially around streaming (which I currently can't do - although my Samsung S22 has the capability, the OPN 1s don't). I'll be booking in for a trial soon and will be able to hear for myself and also check out the comfort factor, which is a bit of a concern with the new shape.

    The Oticon Intent are my first hearing aids, I have had it for about a month and a half. I am still getting used to them. I have noticed, since I play guitar and listen to music, is that I now am able to get the full sound, highs, mids, and lows. The lows have actually gotten more defined since the majority of my hearing loss is due to tinnitus and at the higher frequency range, speech frequency range. I can hear the person I am conversating with in a crowded environment. My wife now doesn't have to suffer while we watch TV anymore because I turn the volume down and I am able to hear dialog. It has been a great experience so far. Wearing glasses are no big deal, I wear glasses and I have to wear safety type glasses for work too, no problem. Only issue is the stability of Bluetooth LE Audio. I always have to restart my hearing aids in order to be connected to the phone via LE audio. I don't know if it's the hearing aids or the phone, which is a Pixel 7. I have kept in touch with Oticon and I hope they can resolve the issue in a future patch. But LE audio sounds better than regular Bluetooth and I can hear people on the phone clearly. Thank you for the good honest review.
    I see you are an O's fan in New York. Be careful of those Yankee fans.

      Thank you for watching and leaving an amazing comment! Welcome to the wonderful world of being able to hear things! You made a great choice with the Intent, and i'm sure you will begin to appreciate them even more as time goes on. The bluetooth connection can be "iffy" at times with all of these hearing aids for a variety of reasons. Hopefully, your issue finds its own resolution!

      Okay, your story sounds very similar to mine and I will trying the Intents next week with an upgrade from my 8 year old Opn1 Oticon devices. I too have a Pixel 7 and even before reading your comment I don't hold out much hope for the Bluetooth performance. This seems just too complicated for any hearing aid to sort out with competing protocols like my wireless Andiod Auto. I strongly suspect when I turn on the ignition in my car there will be a Bluetooth crash. I currently run an AAwireless "dongle" which demands a Bluetooth connection when the car starts

    Fantastic review , im wearing the Oticon more 2's on both ears since 2021 and i thought to check what's new from Oticon nowdays. Loved the part where you mentioned if it is worth to upgrade from Real to intent because you know the price is not cheap. I tested the Real back in the day and i didnt notice a huge difference to be honest. Hard to decide if it's worth to look into upgrading to Intent.

    Thanks so much for a very helpful review.
    I have been very happy with my Oticon OPN's for the past 6 years but I feel it may be time for a technology upgrade. Music quality is important to me as an amateur musician and even with the music program, this is far from ideal. Should I basically expect a similar experience from the Intent? I know music quality is a big ask for hearing aid technology. Also, do you have any comments about the different technology levels for the Intent?

    • @Ziphearing
      @Ziphearing  2 месяца назад

      When you are referring to listening to music, are you talking about live music or music streamed from a phone? Every user will have a different experience based on his/her level of hearing loss and particular programming for the hearing aid. However, I can say that my experience with live music was fantastic! I don't have any comments about the other tech levels because I was not able to test them all out. Click over to the ZipHearing site and check out the full rundown on the different levels! www.ziphearing.com/oticon-intent?

    Great review. It is very helpful. I am in the process of testing a REAL 1 - an upgrade over a top level 7 year old Oticon OPN. Strangely my audiologist never told me about the INTENT as an option. I asked to trial the latest technology and they suggested a REAL 1. Music is an important thing for me - I sing in an acapella choir- play the piano and guitar. Communicating in noisy environments is not a top priority for me. I still find the piano a bit reverby especially single notes. However it would seem from what you the extra cost of the INTENT over the REAL 1 may not be worth it. I have a SAMSUNG S21 and I find the REAL 1 app works perfectly with it including streaming.

    I have the Phllips 9040 and will soon upgrade to the 9050 which are basically the Oticon Intents. Mine came with the Premium charger in the box. Do others not get this? It has a charger bank that holds three full charges. Also my fitter warned me to use a Phillips’ (aka Oticon) chord rather than a generic as it can cause problems. I’ve marked my cord now so I don’t get it mixed up with all my other USB cords. No travel case as the charger case is designed for traveling. Also room in the case to hold your molds (if you use them) so they don’t get misplaced. The box also had a cleaning kit.

    • @Ziphearing
      @Ziphearing  2 месяца назад

      There are a ton of opinions when it comes to charging devices and the accessories used to do so. Personally, I would use whatever the device came with (cables, bricks, etc.) until i was forced to replace it. The manufacturer included these charging accessories for a reason, so you might as well use them. However, I do not feel that replacing a charging cable would do harm if you are still using the original charging brick provided by the manufacturer. If the brick needed to be replaced in the future, just be sure to buy one that is capable of delivering the same power and charging rate. Thank you for the review! Is it worth it for a first time hearing aid user to jump straight to the Intent over the Real? My audiologist let me try the Real about 6 - 9 month's ago, but I'm just getting around to the process of getting hearing aids. Now she's urging me to consider the Intent. I liked the Real when I tried it and can't help but wonder if there's enough improvement to make it worth it. Thanks in advance!

      Hi Tracy, here's a review we got on our website from a customer who originally tried the Reals, and then upgraded to the Intents: "Oticon Intent 1s gave me a newbie’s “aha” moment with the huge improvement in speech-in-noise where I’ve always struggled. I’m no longer as nervous about going into restaurants, to receptions and the like. The feature allowing the aids to focus on a individual in a group when you turn your head as they join the conversation feels as if I’m hearing them far better than with my older versions of Oticon aids."..... Hi there! Thanks for the comment! I have yet to try any widex products, but I can confidently say that the listening experience on the Oticon Intent will not disappoint. To try and answer your question about the "one ear" question....are you only using one hearing aid? Also, I believe the 4D tech will still come in handy even if with one hearing aid. The 4D tech is utilized in identifying the source of sound in relationship to your head position in order to amplify desired sound sources instead of unintended sound sources. I have opn1 and More1 aids. I think the streaming sound is pretty good. They don’t make buds or headphones loud enough for me. Are the Real’s at least as good in terms of streaming audio quality?
    My VA audiologist asked me if I want the Real’s ot Intent model. Sounds like Intent is the way to go. Following a conversation with any sort of background noise is nearly impossible for me as one of my ears is nearly dead.

    NOTED - they will never sound like headphones so whats the option for getting back to great sounding music. First time user here. Will be getting hearing aids shortly. I have the typical musician hearing but more severe in the 6k and 8k range of about -80. along with some - 30.in some lower frequencies but music still sounds good using headphones So all this is very confusing. As a first-time user I have no clue what im in for. I am told that after using hearing aids that if i take them off everything will be muffled so then the question is am I locked only into using hearing aids and no more headphones. Then the next question are hearing aids destroying more hearing hairs in the inner ear.

    • @Ziphearing
      @Ziphearing  Месяц назад

      For the music listening experience, nothing will beat a great pair of headphones. That is their sole purpose, so they are designed to do it well. Hearing aids, on the other hand, have an entirely different main purpose which is aimed more at assisting the wearer in the "everyday" hearing experience. The bluetooth streaming is just a cherry on top of the experience, an added bonus to the whole package not the main focus. Personally, in my life, I usually choose to use headphones when listening to music for extended periods of time or if I am working on a music project. The hearing aids are great for some shorter listening sessions or just listening to something between events.
      After removing the hearing aids from your ears, you will certainly notice a profound difference, perhaps even a "muffled" effect. This sensation will go away on its own in a matter of minutes. The human ear is fantastic at adjusting to changes and making them feel normal after a certain point.
      Thank you for the great question and i hope i was able to provide something useful for you and good luck with the new hearing aids! Be sure to subscribe for future videos! ruclips.net/user/Ziphearing?sub_confirmaton=1

      Thanks for watching leaving a comment! Those are some great questions that are going to be hard to answer in a reply. However, the short answer is that both hearing aids are superb and each will have ups and downs based on your personal preferences. I recommend heading over to the site and comparing the models and then picking one to try with ZipHearing's risk-free trial period.
      ziphearing.com?
      As for hearing/listening in public rooms, that could be a few things. For one, if you are using open domes, the venting in the domes may be allowing too much noise into your ears. Perhaps, talking to your audiologist about a vented dome may benefit your situation.

    Hearing aids do have the ability to hear from 20 to 20,000. When it comes to listening to music, they can be set up just like awesome in ear monitors.
    The richness and low end you describe that is missing when listening to music while streaming is because the audiologist has set it up to wear certain frequencies will not sound in your ears. If you had access to the software, you could adjust it yourself. Audiologist has decided that because you can’t hear 6000 Hz…. Then there is no reason to have 6000 Hz in the mix at all. The same with 100 or even 60 or 40.Hz.
    When hearing aid users can help the software to their hearing aids, things will truly change

    I just got a pair of the Oticon Intent 1 four days ago. I originally bought a pair of a different brand (top 3-4), but just didn't like them. I'm already enjoying these so much more and even with the rechargeable pair, after wearing them for 14 hours already today, still have 13hrs of charge left. Those numbers are pretty consistent so far. As for my other pair, they are battery, not rechargeable, not even close as far as comfort goes and are now officially my backup pair, should I need one. Its a shame that I have only had that pair for 3 or 4 months and I didn't hesitate to move away from them.

      @@Ziphearing I'm a subscriber and actually bought my Oticon Intent 1 from y'all. It was an easy and pleasant process. Needless to say, I made sure to do a lot of research about this aid and then jumped right in.

    I've been told that the connection with telephone is not realy good and disconnect on regular base. Oticon says this connection issues are a work in progress. So you tell us that the connection is OK. What and whome do I have to believe?

    • @Ziphearing
      @Ziphearing  Месяц назад +1

      I can certainly understand the confusion and it is truly very difficult to give you an answer that will apply to 100% of people in all situations. The bluetooth connection between the phone and the hearing aids is going to depend on A TON of different factors. Some of these factors include the type of phone you are using, the particular bluetooth protocol the phone is utilizing, surrounding interference, distance from the phone, and potentially out-of-date firmware on the hearing aids.
      Yes, many hearing aids companies are constantly trying to keep up to date with bluetooth updates being pushed to the phone, so I am not surprised that Oticon says it is a work in progress. I have the Oticon real 2. Would the intent be better?

    • @Ziphearing
      @Ziphearing  2 месяца назад

      Thanks for the comment! I feel that the differences between the Real and the Intent are not very significant. There is an obvious design change from the real to the intent, and the bluetooth connectivity is slightly improved. If I had the real's, i wouldn't necessarily jump into the Intent. However, ultimately, the decision is yours to make! Feel free to head over to our site and compare the two models! www.ziphearing.com/oticon-intent?

    To protect my hearing aids when I’m out and about and not using them.
    What?

    • @Ziphearing
      @Ziphearing  13 дней назад

      Absolutely! When I find myself in a situation where I cannot use the hearing aids (swimming, sleeping, etc) I like to know that they are protected in a case! Also, I have a very curious dog who likes to see how new things taste, so I would not want him to lick or bite my hearing aids when I am, temporarily, not using them. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I hated the Intents. Gone back to the Reals, much better clarity. Also shape of intents too bulky with glasses.

      I was wondering about comfort with glasses. The space behind my ear is small. I compared the sizes of the 2 & the Intent was noticeably thicker. I guess maybe I need to make an appointment to try them both & compare. I'm curious if the new technology really makes that much of a difference. On a frivolous level, I also REALLY like the pink Reals.

      Thanks for the comment and view! Hearing aids are a very personal and subjective experience, we will all have different opinions and feelings about our devices. For some, the added thickness will be a hurdle to get over, for others it may not even be noticeable. It all depends on the user. I wore the Reals for two weeks with my glasses and had pain on the top of my ears. I was really worried about going to the Intents since thicker but was pleasantly surprised that my ears never hurt with the I tents and glasses. I think it is because the angle is different.

      I went from the Real’s to the intent and it was amazing. Fan noise if far less annoying, the motion section is great. I was at a table in a restaurant with my wife. The table behind and to the side of her had really loud people. It was hard to hear my wife. I moved next to my wife instead of across from her and was CLOSER to the loud table. But now the Intent’s blocked out the loud table and it was easy to hear everything my wife said. Now that I am aware of how it works it is great. These are MUCH better than the Reals. I wear glasses and there is no problem for me. I realize that this will depend on a persons anatomy. After wearing for 12-15 hours I have much less irritation than the Reals. The new design really fits me much better and I no longer need the retention wire that I had to have with the Reals. Again, I am not sure what filters out background sounds much better (the higher bit depth, increased number of samples, or new chip) but whatever it is it is GREAT. Background noise while driving in the car is much better. Fan noise is FAR better than the Reals. Lawnmowers and trimmers were not nearly as annoying when taking a walk in the neighborhood. I was lucky that my audiologist was willing to return my Reals that I had for a month and swap them for no cost with the Intents. I am really happy with the Intents.

      I've heard it can be hard to keep the Evokes working. Did you have to send yours back in for repairs very often?

    • @filthypa
      @filthypa 2 месяца назад

      @@_SYDNA_ I've had no problem with the Evokes. There was some battery erosion. I cleaned the contacts and all was OK. I am currently Trying a demo of the Oticon Intents and find there are some pros and cons. I do like the Widex sound and though the Widex SmartRic's do not have as many features, it might be a better fit for me. The Evokes have 12 handles to fit my prescription while the SmartRIC's have 24.
