- Tad and I return to Famous Reading Outdoors Darkwater Trailhead and go east of the parking lot exploring the area of the Ellsworth colliery. The 1908 mine map is so extensive that we just ride through hoping to find any ruins left after strip mining. We were not disappointed!!!

Oh wow ready for part 2!! 😎
Ahhh, classic vomit hill at the end there. Got some neat footage of those mines when I went riding up there
Yea the top one you have to crawl in and it dosnt go back far. The one at the bottom dosnt go back too far either. About 50 feet in it has a shoot on the right that goes up.
Cool
Nice video. I found a cool old building yesterday on the way to 901 from darkwater. Ill post it and tag ya.
Tunnel looks pretty solid ... get much echo in there?
at 16;40 in the video..those are foundations of homes that use to be there..i remember the house there right at the roads edge
So exciting. waiting for part 2!
Posting it soon
That blue tarp has been there for years
Can't wait for part 2!!!

Thanks and welcome
I found that same shaft Sunday but did not venture in.
There are 2 there and 3 more up the hill by the trestle ruins according to the mine maps
@@coalcrackerchris yes, you can see the oil rails hiding in the bushes right off the trail probably 20 yards from where you went down into the mammoth. I like to stop there on the warm days to get some cool air.
What map are you guys talking about? I've been riding FRO/RAC for 11 years and have not seen some of the cool mining stuff you guys find.
the little entrances at the end are at vomit hill, which is right next to 61

@@coalcrackerchristhanks.
Criss has old mining maps that show all the breakers, shafts, and underground workings. Then we try to find what's left
Have you ever considered bringing a metal detector on these adventures?
No, but that would be cool to see what's there. Lots of nails and rr spikes I'm guessing, but who knows, miners tags, etc.
I did but it never stops beeping
@@coalcrackerchris There would be too much waste metal , it would drive you crazy digging all the false targets.
