My grandmother lived in St. Clair, and my other Grandparents lived in Minersville. I spent a lot of summer days on those trails as a kid. Great memories.
I filmed the inside of that church a yr or so ago. Before they were all boarded up. The research I found on it, it was actually built by Irish coal miners
My mom went to St Kierans School. She grew up in Irish Valley. So cool you video taped that. Thank you from my heart. Their is a group trying to save the church. Some guy bought the property and finally locked it up. People where destroying it. Thats no mine. That was the old Grotto beside the church. The people of Heckshersville Valley built the church. It was the school , church and rectory.Its the original church. Lots of Murphy girls and boys were married there. The Valley was once full of little villages but they were destroyed in the 70s when they stripped mined down the Valley. Very sad day. I have a book on the Valley . I'll send you a copy. Very sweet area to grow up according to my aunts. There were 10 kids in the family and their dad worked in the mines. He died of black lung at 49. My family members still live in the Valley. My parents moved to Lebanon for work. My dad worked in the mines but didn't want do that anymore. It did my heart good to see this video. I've had pneumonia for 3 weeks and have not been out about. So your videos have kept me entertained and informed.❤ ❤❤❤❤
