The Car SOS guys reveal the biggest mistake amateur mechanics make

- We recently sat down with two of our favourite car blokes off the telly: Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend from Car SOS. As always, the boys were on top form - and in the space of 10 minutes managed to share some genuinely beautiful moments from behind the scenes of the show, provide valuable advice for any amateur mechanics AND divulge a story that will quite possibly lead to Fuzz’s arrest.

Fuzz, thought I couldn’t admire you more, but for the pint story you are my eternal hero.
Car SOS has had me in tears on more than one occasion, the stories, for me, are so relatable. Tim and Fuzz both seem to know what they are doing and they are doing some great jobs on some lovely cars. There isnt much worth watching on TV, this is.
Car S.O.S. is the best programme on TV now or any other time. Excellent work guys, keep it up.
Cheers to you guys from the people in Oz. You guys are bloody legends, love your show, and what you do for people is astounding. I wish both of you all the best for the future.
Cheerio
😎
I am constantly watching reruns of Car SOS and Wheeler Dealers, great shows from different angles. To say the wife is getting fed up watching them (I am constantly saying that I have not seen this one) is a understatement.
Not just me then
I love the show but i wish they would spend more time showing us the actual repairs and restoration parts of doing up the car
Yeah me too
They probably dont do the repairs themselves lol
@HiggsField Hi, Having worked in both TV & Classic Car Restoration Myself, I thought I would Explain the problem, Classic Car owners/enthusiasts want to see work being done, (I do too), BUT that process is slow and so time consuming to film, and TV shows like this have running times of about 40 mins, per episode, so if they spent the time on showing the work, it would soon use up the running time, and the makers of the shows want to keep the pace going, as for them they look at it as being "Entertaining"for maximum viewers, rather than "enthusiast" based.
With a big team of restorers it takes about 4 months to get a car restored for one episode, and compacting 1,500 hours of work in to 40 mins is hard, I am restoring a classic car on my channel, 1974 Ford Cortina Mk,3, with videos & slide shows of the work, and slide shows get less views than video, so TV company's tend not to use that style, but one video can run over 1 hour and still only show a small section of the work needed to finish a car, so I see the production company's difficulty in trying to make it (fast paced =entertaining) and (In-Depth re the work shown for =Enthusiasts) which is slower.
If you ever saw a series called AN MG IS BORN,by (Mark Evans) it was just on (one car), and each episode was a section of work on that car, great if you like all classics, or that marque, but these guys try to cover a wide selection of Marques per series so do not have the time to show everything, frustrating as that is for us car loving enthusiasts, hope that helps you see the problem they face when making shows like this.which have the format they use.
@@Cortinaman63 I remember that. Wasn't he a vet or something originally?
Yea he was. He did a AC Cobra kitcar, Lotus kit kar, E type restoration, Landrover / Range rover and a helicopter
Car SOS is awesome, i watch every single episode.
The current format is perfect , please never change it!
Such a great show.Helping people with their dream cars, that are unwell or have helped their communities is so worth well.Car SOS in the best.
I have only just started watching your Car SOS. It's a joy. Thank you guys.
CAR SOS - the BEST car show on TV............FULL STOP!
Truth
Great show, I try not to miss an episode. Wish that the whole series was available on DVD.
tim and fuzz are so kind and caring what they do for people who need help is amazing. bring a tear to my eyes every episode. ive meet them at the British motor show and had my picture took with them. going back to the same car show in August at Farnborough.
I have just found the interview - The format works - DON'T CHANGE IT!!!!
Nice to see how compassionate and giving both of you are, excellent show, and long may it continue.
OMG, that Esprit story!!! I never knew it was him!!!! Really cool!
I never understand why so many people hate them. Yes the plot and acting is cheezy. But the car, the restoration, and the joy that they bring to the owner is real. Why people hate them so much?
It's so much better than the ones they're doing on a pretend budget. They're not faking the story, they're genuinely doing this for the good of the person
@@mattslip179 yes and i always appreciated they are giving the car instead of selling it. For me personally, I don't like people restoring classics then sell it to highest price to some collector only for those cars to be locked inside a living room. They are the same as car flipper
I don't condemn car flipper as people need to make some money. And what they do isn't illegal. But, I just don't like em
The cheese is the whole point of this show.. I must admit I used to find them annoying, but once you get used to them it's great.
They have had the same focus and concept all the way through. When WD went American it was wrecked and Edd's departure finished it.
People hate them? Why? I love them!
These guys with Chris Harris put into the mix is a recipe on how to make Top Gear great again
Fuzz is now my undying hero!!! epic.
Fuzz is awesome. Not only is he one of us (drummer), but what he did to Boris is the stuff of legends.
Fuzz and Tim. you guys are awsome!! 10/10. Thanks for making people smile.
Great show fantastic causes, top work guys keep going👍
Hope they'll show a little more of the work in the shop again and cut back a bit on the road trips to get parts and calls to vendors. The car should be the center of the story and Fuzz is better at sticking to that than Tim.
Main reason I don't watch the show anymore... Went from being a fairly interesting car restoration show, to a series of elongated sob stories with all the work done on the cars off-camera....
Too much of that arse Tim.
It costs to much money to have the film crew in the workshop for long hours.
Love the Car SOS. So much love from Sweden🇸🇪🙋♂️❤️
Love these 2 and Car SOSage
Fuzz that’s classic - I dipped his pint. 😂 I was laughing so much. Just testing the temperature chap. Brrrrrrrr
😂
Great show, looking forward to the new series when it is screened on normal TV in the UK. Apparently there is a vw t4 (which I own)
Brilliant love the show keep going
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Je suis Français et j'adore Car SOS !! Une émission pleine de bonheur et d'humour !!! ❤❤❤ 👏👏👏👏 👍👍👍👍👍
These two fella's are solid gold!
Great stuff...more please...
Fuzz, you deserve a knighthood !!
Only found this show 6 months ago and I am hooked now fuzz is my favourite totally comfortable in his own skin and his favourite jacket he cut down from an old coat years ago
THIS SHOW IS THE BEST CAR SHOW EVER..
So Boris has had car sausage from Fuzz.
The story will get better if Boris makes it to PM
@@peterbarker6054 Johnson by name and Johnson by nature.
@@peterbarker6054 Well, he is the PM now.
@@peterbarker6054 your wish came true!
Peter Barker
Better! That’s if you call 40,000 corona deaths (60,000 + excess deaths) better?
I love this show, best car restoration show on TV,I mean some of these cars are totally beyond repair and they make them like brand new from the showroom.the point of the show to give people going through hard times a bit of a boost is really honorable too.don't ever change it.
On wheeler dealers it's was and I think still is a good show.Ed China is a bloody genius they should maybe bring him in on car sausage too,but Ant Ansted is a great mechanic too ya it's not the same but it's not like what happened to Top Gear which just isn't Top Gear without Clarkson Hammond and May.they should have re-named that show because it will never be the same again. The Grand Tour is the real Top Gear now.
Keep up the good work lads👍
Two of the funniest guys in car restoration.
These guys are awesome ! Not sure if I'd have a pint with Fuzz 🤣 oh ! I love classic cars, and I'm from Rugby, Hi Tim
*I LOVE THIS SHOW*
I wish they would come and fix my nova turbo
I love this show so much and these guys are so nice and great
Great audio quality
Holy Moly i remember that lotus story but never knew it was about Tim!! 😂
Brilliant story - what perfect judgement Fuzz 👍🤝😹
I like the format or as some call it the "sob stories" (bit unfair?)......
To see the joy on real car guys and gals faces after the penny drops is great viewing......tim can be a bell but on the handover he shows his warm side and the families look thrilled too for the nominee.
Many have had their cars stored away for years unable to fix them up and its great to see them taken away and restored.
as a filmmaker, I reveal that one of mistake that this video have, the audio
Fuzz 😂😂, legend.
Love these guys!
Excellent! love SOS.. it feels real..
Love the show Fuzz and Tom are great 👍👍
Nice one, Fuzz 👍
Boris Johnson became a politician in 2001.
brilliant! sub'd in a millisecond. ha ha. you guys are pleasantly bonkers.
Great item many thanks
lol love it...... i am on the floor in a fit of giggles fuzz knobed the pint 5 star work buddy
as far as the Car SOS - WD celebrity death match goes: Ant Antstead is a former policeman, which might turn the odds... But he would have MB constantly in his way as he always wants to be up front....
Any was an armed police officer , he might be packing 😂
A nice little anecdote about BJ - He was also sacked from the Wolverhampton Express and Star!
Cowardly and miserable thing to do, and I’m no Boris fan. Makes me think a lot less of Fuzz.
The best thing that's ever happened to Boris. He mus have pissed Fuzz off, because you don't do that to your mates.
@@SvenTviking
I remember hearing the Jodie Marsh thing on Kerrang when I was working nights in Wednesbury. Heaven hath no fury like a Hayley scorned!
I'd love a Car SOS Wheeler Dealers special or short series
Spot on. Keep them coming.
Only the British can make this story funny... "dipped my nob..." 😂😂😂
Fuzz I owe you a pint, the non-dipped variety. 👍
Fuzz's admission about Boris Johnson needs to go viral on Social Media or a new emoji created!!!!!
Car sausage is great . Top car programme , these guys are great 👍
A show with car s.o.s. and Edd would be lovely. We want that!
I love you Fuzz! 😂😂😂
Great team
And a big reason prefer Car SOS over Wheeler Dealers, Car SOS is light hearted entertainment that's car focused. It's about the charm of the cars, with a nice warm heart felt story about the cars and the meaning they have to there owners. Wheeler Dealers is just about egos, weather that be Mike Brewer, just a car dealer or Edd China who in later series never got his hands dirty. Tim and Fuzz have got it bang on, Wheeler Dealers just lost there way with egos
Steve Denton and Brewer was the worst negotiator I've ever seen... Apart from the current Tory front bench that is...
keep it real love the show
In the episode where you guys had to fix a Lamborghini spade,
Question, how long did that take?
And way back in the 70's, I was buying and selling cars too.
Very early 70's, I picked up a 71, Lamborghini Espada, same colour as in your show, I had to clean the car, inside and out, and return it to my Irish friend.
I was just wondering.
Could this be the same car?
I had the car for a few days and I raced every car that I met at the traffic lights. And left them standing.
I was just wondering, you never know, could be the same car.
Doug.
Love this show. Way better than WD now.
Tim - Love your TV work but the real story of the Esprit is somewhat different as we both know.
I had the privilege to buy it directly from you just after you parted company from Kerrang and IIRC I handed you £8500 for the beast. Its all history now and feels a long time ago but the truth was the Ebay sale never happened and you just ran with the media story as it unexpectedly worked well for you at the time.
ATB and keep up the Car SOS, genuinely enjoyable.
OMG I AM DYING....FUZZ IS THE REAL DEAL.....
Boys, can you do up a 1975 Renault 12 TL for me please. Twas my first car and did everything in it. Got to be yellow(301).You will find one in continental "Europe".Thanks very much for this.I am very nostalgic, and somewhat disturbed.A drummer too.🤞
*FUZZ* "BELL END IN A PINT" *TOWNSEND*
Grate show keep up the grate work my 20 year old merk next pleas 😜
I like the show, just try and keep it real without the drama.
Don’t worry about it Fuzz. Boris has dipped his knob in a few inappropriate places as well so I reckon that’s squits.
does anybody know the company that do the illuminated paint that was used on the VW camper.
I love these guys
Great fun. I really like Car SOS. Then again I like Wheeler Dealers. I used to love Top Gear. The Grand Tour wipes the ground with it.
You can come and rescue my W210 E55 estate if you want, it's very tired after 240,000 miles and it's slowly decomposing in a car park while I have to drive a deisel Focus. 🤣
I think you've beat Wheeler Dealers Fuzz and Tim, sorry Mr Brewer but when you moved to the USA (nowt wrong with the USA or its people for that matter) and Edd then departed the show it lost that special something about it for me.... But to the rescue came CAR SOS and for me I like Fuzz a lot and I'd like to see Fuzz dabble a bit more into his former car ownership past tho maybe by doing actual restorations on cars that he once drove
Yeah, I had that feeling too when Ed left the show,
My Stag will have the right oil Fuzz, just bought it from you 😁
Fuzz has already thought about that wrestling match a little too much methinks!
They are right about oil type and wrong tires. I see people getting the wrong oil all the time, especially people my age(50) getting 10w40 for their new cars because that's what their old cars took. Your speedometer is calibrated for a certain size tire so changing sizes can through it off.
Can't help but wish that someone had come into the bog while Fuzz was cleaning the end of his manhood.
like fuzz dose all the work on the car's i see on show what tim shaw make the tea olny
Fuzz and bojo lol lesson never let fuzz buy you a pint lol 🤘
I met Tim àt MJA While working he was very funny .
Shaw cannot keep his trap shut and let Fuzz talk even on this.
Boris had a Johnson in his pint 🍺
Just shook fuzz hand today at ludlow food festival...nice bloke
National treasures!!!
I can honestly say, I wouldn't ever want to see Fuzz and Tom in budgie smugglers. I didn't ever want to have that planted in my mind as a thought. Reminds me of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". The imagination can be a very bad place to go.
car sos is the best car show on tv
When is the next series
Well done with Boris pint😂😀😂😀😂
Rushing a resto project, especially someone else's resto project.
fuzz..we salute you
