I've been asking myself this one question more and more since Calus was revealed to the Destiny community, who would win between Oryx and Calus? "But do note this book was created by Emperor Calus, a dictator who has commissioned this to record the truth. I expect a lot of these details to be fudged."
So here's what I think is going on. Calus is an agent of the Darkness full stop. However, unlike other agents of the Darkness, he's not been tasked with destroying the Light directly. Instead, he's been indoctrinated into accepting the Darkness' end goal, and with convincing as many champions of the Light to also lay down arms against "the inevitable". The Darkness is getting him to do this as a way of defeating us, by convincing us not to fight it, to make us hopeless against it. The Darkness may be doing this since we have destroyed every other threat to us, every other agent of the Darkness that has faced us, including demigods, so that's clearly not working. This may be why Calus uses the ontological syntax, the Darkness may have given him some measure of paracausal powers, to warp the Guardian's own Will. Further to this, the Darkness may be taking this approach because it has seen that it can work, as it did with Dregen Yor
Byf it’s worth noting that, in either the Chronicon or Confessions lore books (I don’t remember which), a scribe describes (heh) that the Leviathan passed through a gap in space, basically, and arrived somewhere else. Which further suggests the Leviathan stumbled into the domain of the Agents of the Deep. “The Traveler came out of the Void that surrounds all things. Thus we know that the Void is full of power. Thus we know that the Void is full of fear.” Also as a Titan - I stand with you - not on the sidelines like Calus - against the Black Edge.
I wonder if Calus never actually saw the darkness, or if he did maybe he’s just really terrified and needs us to beat them because our power is unmatched by any other being including Calus himself. Maybe Savathun got to him, messed with his perspective and is up to her usual trickery using us as pawns to keep killing for her to feed her worm. Idk ik its unlikely but at this point everything is up for debate
Perhaps Calus (and to some extent Mara) travelled the edge of a black hole? Just at the edge og the schwarzschild radius (or across it). This would explain the violent gravity fluctuations but also the seeing of the passing of the Universe. Of course there will have to be some paracausal mumbo jumbo for them both to return and their respective vessels not being torn apart, but perhaps?
