This is so hype. Dena did a great job on writing a rivalry dynamic between Cynthia and Volo.
Way he's mentioning about pokemon not truly battling for their lives rather than friendly contests alone....worrying implications that he wants them to behave like savage wild beasts
@@hunterhq295 Makes me wonder what sort of situation was he in to believe that. If he and his Pokemon were fighting desperately for their own survival I could see how his Pokemon could love him despite Volo's own feelings for them.
@@KZN02Kamado‘s village got massacred by wild pokemon. It’s easy to see how Volo and hos own pokemon had a similarly cruel fate which made them adapt a survivalist attitude.

Wow that was intense. I love it, I can't wait for more Cynthia-Volo scenes. The way they made a rivalry between them works great, I wasn't expecting him to pull out his own Garchomp. They will definitely battle again

This story looks like a "Pokemon - into the Cynthia-verse". And it's not a problem. I was just expecting this a bit earlier. Also, can we just talk about the fact that Volo is tough enough to beat Cynthia. The villains are definitely getting stronger.
I think it helps Volo has a style that kinda isn't traditional so it has it's advantages against a normal battler...I think Cynthia would win in the future if she masters these battling forms.
I see them as equally matched for now. Volo's Strong and Agile styles caught her off guard, but being the skilled trainer she is, Cynthia adapted quickly. If the battle continued, perhaps she would've lost, but she would have made Volo work for it. Of course, they're both holding back, but I think they both recognize the other as tough opponents.
Volo sounds like those old folks "Back in my day we had to climb five mountains, swim 10 rivers upstream and swim up 40 waterfalls every day to go to school, unlike you weak garbage young folk." It's hilarious. Makes sense he sounds like that, as he comes from the past.
Can someone please show him what megaevolitions are? Or at least tell him his Lucario can read his mind. Or have Colress show him the results of his scientific research about releasing the true potential of Pokémon from B&W2.
Besides, Cynthia adapted very quickly to Volo's style of battling and adopted counter-measures. Most of the reason Volo's fight was so hard was because of PLA's battle system, and here Cynthia has gone through the same thing as us. Like us, she adapted to it. I love it.
I just gotta say, I'm pretty sure that if this was a 6v6, Cynthia's whole team would have won, even if just barely. And then every follow up battle they would have an easier time because they now are all used to Hisuian battle style.
Not to mention that she and her team would be able to survive no problem if they were isekai'd into Hisui, like Ingo.
Don't let Volo's words get through you, Cynthia! The fanbase fears you for a reason!

I feel like since they already addressed the lookalike situation with Adaman, Irida, Akari, and Rei's arrival, they dont want to mention it every time a new Hisui character gets added. It might get a little repetitive, but I agree this is one of the more important things to bring up.

@@eduardobustamante4749 Definitely, with Cyrus being the more calculated and logical type, he'd likely be the first to see how these random lookalikes from the past are actually ancestors
The lack of PLA confirming and denying of anything (and frankly BDSP's insistence to be copy-and-paste from DP rather than a new story like ORAS that cross-references PLA) is a very frustrating aspect of PLA in terms of lore...they're obviously anscestors of old characters but we don't have canon confirmation for them hence probably why DeNA can't make a familial story between these characters.
P.S. I don't think even Perrin in SV is confirmed to be Adaman's descendant.
@@malgaiThis story is from mysterious stone chapter, the don't introduce characters here like they do in the story events. Adaman, Irida, Rei and Akari were introduced in their respective story events not in the mysterious stone chapter.
So at this point I really wonder if the two know or don't know the relation between them.

@@g_hyperstar3609 Cynthia adapted quickly to Hisui's strong and agile styles during this battle, perhaps she knew already a bit of how battles were in ancient Sinnoh and trained to adapt to such tactics?
They lived under such conditions in a wild untamed land, when it modernised as sinnoh the urgency and life threatening stakes were gone thus I feel Volo thinks pokemon become less refined or lost their fighting instinct.

I have to wonder, is Volo actually from Hisuian times like we all think? Volo was by far the most prominent Pokémon battler in Legends: Arceus, so much so that it makes you wonder where his skill set would have come from. The thing is, Volo’s technically not in the wrong for wanting to use Pokémon as tools, because if we’re taking things at face value, that’s exactly what Pokémon were back then- a dangerous force that had to be respected and befriended. To some extent he’s just doing what he’s always known- assuming he actually is from Hisui. If he’s from another time entirely though and he’s still acting like this, that would make things a *lot* more interesting.
There is a theory that Volo is either a time traveler or immortal, with both explanations giving him opportunity to become as skilled with his Pokemon as he is. I find it hard to believe that Volo managed to become the strongest trainer of his time with absolutely nobody noticing
the whole ancestor thing kind of dosen't make sense either with rei or akari it's been established that rei is from the future if that's true then how can he be lucaus ancestor? same with akari if you choose her as the playable character maybe this is just another alternate reality thing
@@lightyoshimanThere is a simple way of solving the Rei situation. If Lucas and Rei are not the same, Rei is not from the past then it could only be that Rei or rather PLA player character, is from further into the future. Meaning he is actually is actually DPP MC's descendant. Rei does mention that the current era looks familiar yet still different to him. That's because he is from a further point in history. Thus leaving the native Hisuian Akari/Rei as the ancestoral point, then the DPP protagonist for the modern day, and the PLA MC before they are chosen by Arceus, be from the distant future. It makes sense this way.

on one hand it is wrong for people to see pokemon as just tools in that world on the other the mans from an age where surviving is a lot more harder remember legend of arceus is the first pokemon game where if your pokemon team is wiped out you don't black out you only black out when the pokemon in question attacks an manes you until your unconscious showing that pokemon in the past were a lot more ruthless then the future plus also remember people knew very little about them so its not shocking that volo thinks this way still he is wrong about seeing pokemon as just tools is the only way to forge a bond between them...........huh now that I think about it this is just another ash vs paul situation

My prediction is Cynthia will have Arceus and Volo gonna get origin giratina form on their rematch.
Mine is with Garchomp. They will rematch with their own Garchomps, and they will have something to do with Giratina later. I doubt if Volo is gonna get Origin Giratina cuz it's sound blank.

But they are lol. Even Lusamine talked how we stored Pokemon in PC when we dont want them.
He's basically trying to be a sociopath, that "use them before they use you" mindset, potentially from trauma. Rei thinks he can change tho and there's some hints that his kindness towards his Togepi might not be entirely fake, because that line can detect the emotions of people. I guess we'll see if he can find some faith in people and his Pokemon eventually.
It's really the only way he's safe to be on the island, if he mellows a bit like Lysandre and Cyrus did.

I mean technically Ash WAS there at one point in Pasio. So it could have happened unless he got sent back to his world to compete in the Master 8 World Coronation Series. Then it might be too late at this point. I still wanted that Ash vs Red fight that they heavily teased.
