Thank you
This channel is a gem
truly
Thanks so much.
9 months later, I second this.
Oh yes
Gym* lol
Wow, your channel is criminally underrated.
TRUE
The second exercise is called "Square Breathing" and is great for those with anxiety as well!
Thanks for the info. Do you know the names of any of the others? It's good to have a label for them.
Deep breathing is taken for granted and like you pointed out can be so beneficial in a variety of ways.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial Sorry I only recognized the second one but there are a lot of varieties like the Wim Hof method and others under the category of "breathwork" - never associated it with athletics until this video so I'm glad you are introducing it!
The Second i knew under Boxbreathing from Mark Divine. Perfect for Daily practice...
I thought it was called box breathing
And it's also called box breathing
Drill #1 - 2:12
Drill #2 - 4:46
Drill #3 - 9:20
Drill #4- 12:15
Could you make a video applying this to actual punching? When to inhale, how to exhale in 5 punch combos? How to inhale & exhale during defense, blocking, slipping, rolling?
Brilliant stuff :) thank you so much
Not only athlete skill that you have, also a good comnunication skill 👍
Thankyou for that good sweet info coach
Which exercise is your favourite? I like #3 and #4 the most.
I love using these lung exercises at the end of a hard running session. I try and really increase the lung capacity after they've been completely opened up.
What do u think about the training mask?
@@lrwhiteley I don't know much about the science behind that.
My strength and conditioning coach wasn't a fan. That's pretty much all I know.
Masks are Definitely not something you should experiment, with if you don't know what you're doing. To much resistance on breathing during exercise can give you lasting lung damage.
Is it better if we do this after we practice or before practice?
All of them
my goodness! these tips are amazing
Great Champion! Fantastic workout!
Nice ones. Thanks.
wow...super awesome video Gabriel... Thanks & kudos
Just feeding the algorithm. Great useful videos. Props to you Gabriel.
Gabriel, I am actually so impressed with your efforts here on your channel. I discovered it four days ago, and each morning when I wake up, there is a different highly detailed video about - as you have said - something regarding kick boxing that never gets talked about waiting for me on my RUclips home page. And it seems like they just keep coming, lol. Thx so much for your efforts, and - although I am more of a humble personality type - I can't help but feel a bit of national pride being a fellow Canadian. Keep up the great work, brotha. And peace ☮️
I’m thinking this is one of the best martial arts channels on RUclips just seems really practical and training focused... must have 1 million subscribers potential?
Man i love you! Can't get enough of your videos. Very helpful tips. I do similar breathing exercises to increase my lungs capacity for speargun diving, witch is very physically demanding activity, similar to kick boxing. These exercises are called stillness or high-carbon breathing exercises and they are difficult like hell. The fact that you use them shows professionalism, open minded and very focused to your goals. Keep up the good work!
I am an ex surfer, did stuff like this, and it works. Specially the two last ones. If you ever go swimming try this: 25m sprint without breathing, same time you needed for the 25m less 5 seconds for recovery, and again. While you sprint you are also learning how to relax in full effort
hell of an excercise lol ive been doing HIIT excrcises wrong my whole life and just learning to relax my abs ive gotten so much oxygen omg
This is the best video i have ever seen
Bro nice video
Thank you ❤🔥
These exercises really have helped me with my cardio, and right breathing, thank you for these awesome videos!
Thank you
Thanks man
Best channel ever every video is very valuable
Last one really got me my lungs were begging me to take 2 breaths
Thank you for this content Gabriel!! Extremely underrated we appreciate it
I love sharing less heard of training exercises. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks Gabriel for your cardio improvement series this helped me (along with the other videos) simplify my recovery with my cardio. I train Krav Maga including Kickboxing and No Gi Jiu-Jitsu. Ever since doing these breathing exercises my recover faster from getting a bit winded.
Hey Gabriel I wanted to congrats you that you are able to make the first excerise in standing position with only so little shaking you seem to have a lot of body control. I do this one sitting or lying down. :D Great job man
Thank you for all your content. We have a similar height, and build, so a lot of your content fits my body and athletic style. It's hard to find content that isn't entire about bulking, or cutting, and focuses more on moderation, and health, like this channel does.
Stoked to find this! Instead of jumping jacks I will use kettlebell swings
This has been gold for me this week coach
Bpm went down 3 beats
All the thumbnail for this video needs is a little straw house being blown down by the cloud of breath you got coming out of you! Always a pleasure to hear your advice and what you got to say.
Just started keep boxing.. on each lesson I am out of breath within just few minutes 😥.. can't wait to start doing this and progress.
We want the second series of breathing exercises!
I have a problem figuring out how to breathe. I went to a pulmonologist today, and he told me to expand my stomach as I'm inhaling. But for some reason when I am inhaling through my nose, my chest is expanding and my stomach is moving back towards my spine.
If you can do a breathing video to show how you're breathing through your stomach, diaphragm, mouth, nostril so that we can see the movement of the breath, that would be super helpful!
This is great, I'm going to have to try these. I have some other ones that I do already, but these are cool variations. You should try doing breath holding CO2 tables for a training camp. Working on building CO2 tolerance can really up your cardio even if you're a cardio machine already and haven't been training CO2 tolerance. The exhale and jumping jacks is a CO2 tolerance drill.
I do controlled deep breaths for jumping jacks. 5 jumping jacks in breath, 5 out breath. Sets of 20. Maintain as long as I can, then do one set of 4in/out when I can't hold 5 anymore. I started doing the same with keeping core flexed after watching one of your videos on conditioning for body strikes... it's much harder
What a great video brother
Glad you enjoyed the content.
Amazing stuff! :D ill definitly incorporate this in my workout routine!!
Awesome. Enjoy them.
And i prefer to do them at the end of my workout.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial ah thanks! Thats right, keep putting out the great content! I just discovered your channel and I have to say Im addicted for sure. Allot of awesome stuff, stay cool!
Very usfule video respect champ 💪
Glad you enjoyed it.
This is is a video one could watch at least once a day.
#2 is one I used to be big on need to restart this.
For sure. I do breathing exercises 3-4 times per week.
I love the ones that incorporate working out and breathe holding.
Men I enjoyed this one so much bro
This is ridiculously hard I love it
I gas out really quickly because i'm out of shape, but as I'm getting better, hopefully I can implement these techniques to help. Thank you!
Fore sure. They will help you as you work to get in shape as well. Just start off slowly.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial As a newbie, i really appreciate your vids. Thank you!
I do a version of #2 when I get in cold water, it helps for those not used to cold water.
Oh boy. Do you ever get used to cold water. I've been doing ice bath for over 10 years and they still scare me.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial same , ive been doing it for over a year and i still dont want to do it
@@GabrielVargaOfficial first 10 seconds sucks then you get used to it
The Wim Hof breathing is great before and after training
Pretty good
I already loved this guy but the fact he also touts breath work.. just doubled down my fanocity
good thing to pair up with this is learning that it is actually more about CO2 tolerance than oxygen requirement. Literature has made big strides recently on this. But these are great exercises that line up with the new knowledge too!
I can do it! Lol! I have my first BJJ comp on the 29th. I'm 31. Thanks for the vid! I wanted to see how I was. (Part of it is I've done a few breathing exercises before, thanks to Zen, and playing didgeridoo lol)
Does that make your lungs stronger? That was cool! Thanks
Wim Hof method is amazing too Champ
I'm about to get a metal tub for ice baths and I will definitely be checking out his techniques.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial awesome brother we can go live and get others doin it its tremendously amazing and has changed my life
@@GabrielVargaOfficial be sure to do a review.
Light on Pranayama by BKS Iyengar is the bible of mindful breathing exercises for power generation, calming, etc. Ujayyi pranayama takes it to a new level, in the gym, in the ring, or wherever.
i panicked a little until you said you also get a little dizzy
:D
edit: 3rd drill was easy but 4th one was very hard, chest hurt, i only did 5 jumping jacks instead of 10
Good Evening!
I hope you are well :)
Am I breathing in and out through both my mouth and nose? Or just my nose?
Thanks in advance :)
Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth or all through the mouth?
Hey, i have a serious question, do we inhale through nose or mouth? Please help fast, i am planning to start this from tomorrow itself.
When I tried the first two I suddenly notice my shoulders felt better immediately.
I'm not sure if I'm doing it right but I was able to exhale probably 3 times as long as my inhale also I was exhaling for the 3rd time when gabriel finished I dont believe my cardio is actually that good tho
The last one was the hardest to do, rly had to bite down to comolete it
Similar to the wim Hoff method.
So my cardio is really good...but I gas out during sparring...just watched your video on that and I think that's exactly what's happening
Do we do all these daily ? Or pre training or post??
you may not know it but you are my coach 😂
In hale tru nose or mouth?
Holy hell, #4 is hard! :-o
Yep. That's usually when I feel like I just ran a 400m sprint.
Man am bout to run at recruitment
And am still facing issues with my breathing
Wish I have stumbled across this video sooner😔
I got light headed
On that😂 ex valet trying to get lungs back for scuba
hey I yawn whenever I try to do lung exercises, do you have anything that I could do against that?
This last one is hard
Do you breathe in through nose or mouth
Very interesting and challenging, how many times a week do you practice it ? Daily ? Do you focus on quality and feeling or do you focus on measuring performance ?
I do this twice per week post run.
It's more of a breathing quality focus.
Thanks a lot for the answer ! Have a lovely and productive day.
I do some different variations of breath exercises as part of my daily warm-up for workouts. Focusing on breath helps me focus on what my goals and plan are for the upcoming session.

He looks so adorable lol.
Goddamn I been doing that first one for a while for reasons I don’t remember I surprised myself w the numbers
Still get gassed out during sparring tho
2 was square breath I hear that was used by navy seal.. That was calm your mind during pressure
2:14
4:50

Esse cara tem muito o nome de BR
I've always tried to do alot of push ups but beathing gets in the way I did almost twice as much with this
👍👍
Hello I am 50yrs old and have been doing boxing fitness for 3 months and i have major trouble catching my breath. how often should I do this drill daily, after each drill I breath fast trying to catch my breath all the time. its so frustrating. please help
Being able to catch your breathe and control your breathing isn't easy but it will improve in time. Stay diligent with your routine and know small progression is the key.
I'd say doing this 3-4 times per week is good. Make sure you are also doing exercise where you put in at least 30 minutes 3-4 times per week.
I hope this helps.
Damn so that's how 🤔
(*takes bong rip)
breath in for 30sec but on the exhale i almost got panic to bread out slow so 10 sec..
07:00 surf connection
I out did you in the exercises and I'm a smoker
Interesting. These are identical to singing exercises. 🔥🔥🔥
It seems like they are used a lot.
I know surfers use them as well. Got to stay safe when a wave flips you around.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial Definitely🤙🏽 Thank you for sharing your knowledge brother🙏🏽
I can inhale for like 25 seconds and exhale for twice that.. Im I doing something wrong??
Is it normal that I can easily copy what you’re doing but am able to inhale for 20 seconds and exhale for 18?! I didn’t think I was special lol I just skateboard but have been pretty lazy lately
15sec to 20 sec out for me
I have asthma. So stamina has always been issue to me. Even though I can go 2 min 3 rounds, sometimes in middle of a round I feel like I have to force my breathing cause I feel like my lungs have stopped. Any tips
This is one area I know very little about. Sorry.
I don't want to give advice about something that is a medical condition.
Normally I would say keep pushing and pushing and cardio will improve.
I'll see if I can do some research about high level athletes with asthma and make some suggestions.
Bas Rutten had/has asthma so you should check his stuff. If i remember well he said he used to breath through a whistle, that's how he came up with a product he sells. I wouldn't recommend using a whistle as you can swallow it
@@bce6936 thanks I didn't know that. It's very useful, thank a lot.
Those exercises are gonna help you. I cured my asthma by doing breathing exercises. There is many different type of asthma and I'm not an expert on the area, but many time you can cure it just by learning how to properly breath and oxigenate the lungs
"Demon slayer" total concentration breathing LFG haha
So we are using our mouth!??
I can do 9 seconds of inhale and 18 seconds of exhale
i can only inhale for 3 seconds , is there a problem with me?
Work on improving that. It will get better with time. You may breathe shallow and just need to work the lungs in deeper breathes.
@@GabrielVargaOfficial yea exactly I can't do that i even searched for it still can't find anything, how can i improve it
Me getting 10 sec inhale 😳
Pro tip: have a chair near by. Better safe
Wait what does it mean? Im confused
@@SunInJar if you start fainting u dont risk fallin on yo head
@@sebastianquintana5412 oooh
Instead of jumping jacks do mountain climbers 🚀😅
Your cardio is good because of your ability to maximize oxygen, not because you breathe well. You should delete this. Sorry.
I know that. But I still like working these drills.
I've been doing them for years. Would I be fight ready only doing these drills.
Absolutely not! They are just .01% importance of the training I put in.
But I still find them beneficial.
