Everyone's installing these Moon empty integrated tail light everyone shows you how it looks with the left and right turn signal then hits the brake but no one shows you how it looks when you have the brakes applied thank you so much
Welcome! I feel like that’s a very important part. I’ll also add that the version to here is pretty hard to tell which direction I’m turning according to everybody I’ve written with. Especially when the break is applied at the same time as the turn signal. The version three that they have looks like that design flaw has been taken care of and the turn signals are farther spread apart from each other and more noticeable
I believe so. But honestly man, for the price you’re better off either buying some black wrap on amazon for 10-15 bucks or taking it to a wrap shop. You already have the circuit board and that’s what drives the price up so much. I’m gonna wrap mine. It’s an easy shape and small
So, what I think I'm getting is that if I want to totally eliminate the rear turn signals and don't want to do all the rewiring like you did, I need the harness?
Just got a 06 Dyna Super Glide and was looking at this taillight. So, thanks for the video. Don’t think the process is too far diff from your bike. #NewSub
"The Ringer" Oh my god that movie. Everytime I see the "WHEN THE FUCK DID WE GET ICECREAM?" and see Johnny Knoxville almost lose his composure, I bust up laughing so hard.
I can’t speak for the other versions but if you have the same version I do there’s a little red button/switch on the interior of the light. (Backside). Just clicking that toggles the strobe on and off
Did u have to get a gasket to use or is a gasket not needed? Stock light has that foam plate inbetween the light and the housing the moons one i got does not have any foam or gasket material
I just installed mine as is. I honestly don’t remember how mine looked. If you’re in doubt just call up moons or send em a message on ig. They respond super quick in my experience. I do know their unit is completely internally sealed though so I wouldn’t really worry
Doing this same light right now , from the stock Wires you have one black wire and one purple wire on each side , you put them together . How did you wire the black and purple wire from each side ?
I’m a little confused lol. Are you talking about the turn signal wires? It’s been a while since I did the install but if I remember correct one of them on each side is just a ground wire and the tail light itself is already grounded from the actual break and running center light so if those are the wires you were talking about I just cut them and kept them off because the tail light is already grounded from the main attachment
What if I just wanted to replace the brake light and leave my blinkers on. do I still have to take off the fender and everything or is it just plug and play.
Great vid on this product and install. I see this in my very near future. My only question for you is what did you use to cover the holes/space of the old blinkers? Keep up with the great videos and ride safe.
Thank you man!! I've looked for covers for those but can't find any. It doesn't bother me too much because I'll have FXR Division bags covering those holes in a few days-which is why i deleted the stock signals anyway. They don't stick out too bad. If you were to go bagless and leave the holes over time you probably wouldn't even notice it.
I know a lot of people do, but I never have. No matter if I am doing handlebar jobs or turn signal exchanges or anything like that. I have never disconnected the battery on any of my bikes. Just don’t turn the bike on and keep the key fob far away, and I’m sure you will be fine.
Ever have any issues with inspections since those back turn signals are ‘close’? I worry about that passing in my state. Otherwise id do this mod yesterday.
Thanks for the sub! Leather pros are sweet man! I think it's very easy. You can either go the cheap route like I did in this video & cut & solder some stuff. Or you can go completely plug & play with a new wiring kit. Up to you man but either way you'll be good. I think it's easy & very doable. If you want to check out that cable I posted a link to it in the description of this video. Hope this helps man!
Just to clarify you didn’t use that rubber print that came off with the stock light right? I should be okay just installing it without the Oring and not have to worry about water damage?
Correct. I’ve taken mine through plenty of water. It comes with a foam backing against the leds. It should be fine. The o ring doesn’t fit the moons mc either.
Ridin Dad okay awesome I was trying to get the oring to fit but it wouldn’t so I stuck it on without it and I was just making sure that’s how you did it and that they didn’t make a Aftermarket oring that I was supposed to get or anything
Looks dope ! Just one question : In the description you put the link for the tail light base but on the Moons MC website they say that it's for Dyna. Do you think it fits anyway on a 2020 FXLRS ?
Yeah it’s all the same base. But you really don’t need it for the new bikes cause they have the new circuit boards. That’s why it’s marketed for the dynas because they didn’t have the new boards
@@RidinDad thank you very much for your Prompt feedback ! So if I understand well I just have to paint the stock base light If I want a full black look ?
@@pierreguyonvarch6142 yeah just the bezel. I did a video where I wrapped mine in black vinyl for super cheap and it was very easy too. If you have a 2020 FXLR or S you'll have the correct circuit board but will need the wiring harness that guerrilla cables makes to run the break and turn signals to the tail light if you want to use the turn signals in the tail light. If you just want a black bezel then paint or wrap and you're good to go man!
Guerilla cables sells it on their site. I can’t remember what it’s called. But it’s basically a brake wire with two turn signal wires with the male clip ends for the tail light bezel. Comes with a whole new rubber piece that sticks under the fender that replaces stock
Nope. Those are just to extend the turn signal wires themselves. Those are for the front ones at the handlebars. Not beetle long enough. This is the harness you’d need: guerrillacables.com/2018-2020-softail-rear-fender-harness/
I just checked...yupp. Looks like they stopped offering the V1 or V2 tail lights due to the recent V3 model. I have a newer video of me installing the V3 and a link for that. That one works fine and the V3 is even better. Or you can use the moons page and search tail light and find it that way. Either way, up to you man. But I highly suggest watching my newer video lol
How did you fix the hyperflash issue on the Digital Guage. The signals flash normal at the Taillight but, when you look down at the Guage it is hyperflashing?
@@RidinDad Well if you didn't have the issue I guess that will be the tail light I will be purchasing to avoid any future problems. Thanks for the fast reply and quick clarification.
No problem man! And yeah, I'm assuming it will depend on your bike too though. I've never heard of someone having hyperflash or any other issues with any of the moons products but if you do their customer service is super fast & I'm sure they'll be able to guide you in the right direction. But I don't foresee any issues man!
@@Mark_Estelle if you run into that issue turn on the hazards for a bit to re sync the signals and it will get rid of any hyper flash. That’s what I did on my2020 street glide special

Does that black bezel fit the 2020 lowrider s? fitment says only till 2017 😟

It looks great!
Nice job on this !
Thanks man! I appreciate that
Clean install! I am going to look into Moon’s!
Thanks man!! They make a good product. Lots of lighting upgrades
So, what I think I'm getting is that if I want to totally eliminate the rear turn signals and don't want to do all the rewiring like you did, I need the harness?
Jason Hall yes the harness makes it easier for you to not strip, solder or reconnect wires.
Absolutely. I see someone beat me to it lol but you're both correct. Harness is easiest and the only way to avoid soldering or cutting anything.
@@RidinDad Good deal, and thanks for the video.

Lolol. I just rewatched it recently again and it’s so funny!! My favorite is the scratched cd part
That’s badass I like it strobe effect
For sure man. Makes it harder for people to ignore ya! Moons are they only people I've seen integrating it
Ridin Dad mine doesn’t strobe. Did you have to do something to enable this feature?

I don’t think so really. I think it’s pretty easy because they are arrows. There is a new version that spaces out the lights more though
V3 version solved that problem, visible perfectly
49.95 at Moons for the plug and play harness for intergrated turn signal/brake light
Yeah that’s too much for me especially since I already have the correct harness. I’ll take the $10 wrap lol

I zip tied them to the rubber piece already there that secured the main brake light wire to the underneath of the fender
