Brilliant product that worked perfectly. However, the problems I had were with somebody who tried to repair it before. They tried to re-glue the vinyl onto the felt with silicone and got globs of it everywhere, I ended up taking both the vinyl and the felt underneath it off and went to the bare door panel, and siliconed the overlay onto that. It worked perfectly.

@@bdm408 Yes! They required some minor finishing with a Dremel, but they look great. There is some small gaps where it does not fully cover but only if you look closely.
I was so happy to come across this. I have a similar product already on my car, that cost stupid money, doesn't fit nearly as well as these appear to, and changes the look of the door by covering the lower pocket as well. I've been looking for a better replacement for a long time. This looks like it!

Just purchased these and was impressed with the finish. Everything looked great when I first put it up to the door for a test fit. However, after the cleaning steps and applying the glue and attempting to install…it wouldn’t lay completely flat against the door panel. It was hitting at the front, near the window control button and impeding the panel from laying against the bottom of the door. Any help would be appreciated

Before I got these I tried re gluing the panels with 3m adhesive, I had taken them to 2 different automotive upholstery shops, good well rated ones, nothing worked.. this so far is the best looking, most permanent fix i found.. for context i live in Kansas, we get pretty extreme temperature & humidity fluctuations & extreme seasons, 110° days in the summer, -15° days in the winter, & especially with the heat none of the other fixes held up with my all black interior. The only thing i did with these other than what the instructions say is removed the panels from the doors for install, added permatex high temp rtv sealant as an additional adhesive & used weight and clamps overnight for a solid flush finish.. maybe that is overkill but they work great.. so glad i don't have to worry about the panels anymore & it will probably make mine a bit more desirable to buyers when i eventually decide to sell this car
A wire welding brush was used in this video. Any tool that can remove the clumps of adhesive will work. If there isn't clumps of adhesive in certain areas you should be fine to proceed to the next step.
You guys should do something like this for the SN95-Newedge Mustangs. Something to go over the faux door panel 'insert', and/or some fix for the actual insert (notorious for break clips and coming off)

Just noticing the guy has to squeeze the silicone tube pretty hard to finish the panel for the passenger side. Then the directions say repeat for the driver's side. Is there enough silicone in that tube for both sides?
Yes you will be able to do both sides with one tube. We can send an extra if need be. Also placing the tube in a jar of warm water before you apply it helps it to flow easier as well.
I'm tired of looking at the factory leather ones just saging down I reglued them already but with time again continue to sag maybe a set of these will eliminate the problem
Wish i knew about these sooner, I searched all over for different solutions for the door panel and never came across these.. randomly found them today as a related item to something completely unrelated i was looking at for the car on ebay.. I've waited forever to get mine into an upholstery shop after trying to fix the falling off factory piece with 3m super 90 adhesive which failed - it started falling off again after a few months, now I have no door panels while the upholstery shop is going to try to fix them with new foam & vinyl which will take who knows how long to get to, cost by his estimate about $80 per panel, and who knows how good it will look or how long that fix will last.. the cost isn't bad, but this has been so frustrating for a stupid thing because Ford had to be cheap skate c***s in how they made it to begin with .

My interior is currently black but I might go with a different color I have a black interior, blue exterior (vista blue metallic) so I'm thinking about either going with black, blue, or a gray/matte silver if you have a color that matches the door handles.. as far as color goes what do you think?

@@coverlaymfg Is it "better" to remove the felt? I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on these panels, but want to make sure I do it right. Scraping the glue off the felt sounds like a mild nightmare to me. I'd rather just remove it completely.
@@londonpinball It would be better to leave the felt in place but can be done without it as well. All of the glue doesn't need to be removed just mainly the chunks that would keep the cover from laying down.

They are great but DO NOT use that silicone they send repeat DO NOT use that silicone. Some are gonna tell you it worked for them but it doesn't. Get you some gorilla mounting(double sided) tape and it will stick. The provided silicone just made extra work and a mess on the one panel I used it on.
Just what my S197 mustang needs, ANOTHER piece of plastic covering an interior surface. Nope. You guys should offer this covered in leather that could be applied the same way.

whats absolutely infuriating is ford made mustang doors without the hideous fabric at all i threw my entire panels away in the garbage where they belonged and replaced with some that lack the terrible design flaw
Yes, this is a major flaw in the design of the original panels. Many customers pay alot of money to have their door panel inserts re-upholstered only to have the same issue happen again a few months later. Our permanent door insert replacements are made out of a highly durable ABS material which will last a lifetime.

Yes your right, we do not recommend using the trunk as a work bench when installing your dash cover. We have this one on the list for a redo.

First you should give th3 new insert a rough sanding then clean it with isopropyl alcohol. Apply a coat of glue, follow glue's directions.

Is this rubber vinyl or plastic vinyl?
It is made out of ABS thermo plastic. It is "hard" plastic.
