In this video, I suggest a complete warm up routine for your badminton session. Starting with some basic warm up, loosening up, including some mobility exercises and dynamic stretching and ending with activation to be ready for your court time.
This Routine should take around 25 minutes, each part can be extended, of course. Let me know in the comments which part you want to extend, so I can add a collection with specific exercises!
Thanks a lot to Don who helped me with this!

Thank you. This is great. A very comprehensive set of warm up exercises. Feel warm ups are essential to my game and prevent injuries.

Warm up is essential and helps to reduce the chance of injuries. This is quite extensive and includes some exercises that will help to improve your stability and mobility as well.
How do you normally warm up?

I notice that 99.9% of players have no warm up at all before hitting on court. Serious injuries have become so common. One outing resulted in 3 players suffering serious problems: ankle sprain, split chin requiring stitches, and a racquet to the face. I believe warm ups can prevent some of this and I always warm up despite others saying to forget it and get on the court and play. I do upper body arm stretches, hands to floor, legs apart; lower body leg stretches; speed drill, feet shuffles; and finally 6 point movement drill on court. Usually takes 15 to 20 minutes before playing. Open any suggestions. Thanks. I have witnessed an array of back, knee, elbow, shoulder, calf, ankle, wrist, and foot injuries. Often resulting in a trip to the orthopedic surgeon and surgery, side lining players for a week to 2 years. This is a cautionary tale. I do not want to end up hurt and am into prevention.

I think many players underestimate a warm up. It doesn't only get your body ready, but also helps to get the mind set on the exercises to come, to shift the focus to badminton. Therefore it's good to have a routine that you always do.

Great that you like it! It's very throughout and I admit it's more than just a warm up, but if you find some things that you'll include in your warm up routine, it was worth making that video!

    Great video, thank you!
I have to say though, with the music and the synchronised movements (particularly 3:00) it's like the weirdest dance video...! :)

😂😂🤣 pure coincidence! I'm glad you like it. I think it's not a very common way to warm up, but it's very throughout and (when extending the lunges and the handwalk), it even has some stability training included.
Have you tried it yet? 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

@@PlayFasterThanYourShadow Certainly seems thorough, although I've not had a chance yet to try any yet.
I appreciate the mix, and particularly the stability training! Those are the kind of exercises that you don't really learn over the years, so super nice to have a video that explains them so well.
