I have always loved this version of Like Unto Us. I found a second seminary record at a second hand thrift store. This song and The Book of Mormon helped me build a testimony which would later share as a missionary.
....everyday we face new challenges, hills that seem to steep to climb, but other men have walked the experience and passed the test of time. I became one of those other "men" seeking to pass the test of time as a result of very early morning seminary. Thank you, Jesus! This title is heaven's best invitation to mankind on earth. So live and learn from those before us....ensure your journey home. I really felt the spiritually emotional side of heaven on earth from this class in Yamhill, Oregon. Eldon, Clint, Jeff, Tallon.....could not have made it without you guys! The veil was very thin in those days as I was in the throes of being born again in Jesus and the Holy Ghost that bore witness to my soul and heart that Jesus, truly is, the Christ and my Savior! Thank you, thank you, thank you! God bless!
New Freedom Singers at Ricks College added this number to our performances for the 1974-75 school year and for our end of year tour to Utah, Arizona, California, and Nevada. Kent Fife singing lead and Gary Dollar and I singing back-up.
This is my most favorite seminary song. I even love the popping sound of the old record which brings back memories of the past. I too came across an old seminary record in a second hand store. Who would think that old record would become a treasure?
Last spring I found the whole album on youtube. I was amazed at how well I remembered all dozen or so songs on it. Tried to find it around thanksgiving time and couldn't. Did some research and everything said that it was only released as a 3 song EP. Weird!
I just bought this album at a thrift store. The album lists no credits anywhere for songwriting or singers. But I'm almost 50 and I've listened to the original _Saturday's Warrior_ album maybe hundreds of times. I'm 100% sure that this music and these lyrics were written by Lex de Azevedo and Doug Stewart, respectively, and that this song was sung by Ric de Azevedo, who played Tod Richards in the original cast of _Saturday's Warrior._ If Lex, Doug or Ric are reading this right now, will you please reply and confirm?
I know I'm late to the discussion here; but honestly, if you're going to post this, why not post it in the original 2-channel stereo instead of "mono" playing in just the left channel only? I'd love to hear back from you about this. Thanks!
@Dave Smith It is never too late for anyone, but you may find you have to become meek or teachable and willing to give up all of your sins to know Him.
This throws me back to my mission....when my companion introduced me to these amazing songs. So deep in meaning!

Growing up in San Jose California South Stake and going to early morning seminary these songs bring back wonderful memories.

My sister's would play 'Like Unto Us' when I was young. One of my earliest memories of feeling the spirit.

Hi Les Dawson.
OldJarHead, where did you get these recordings from? The old albums or are they on CD now?

Aren't they really saying "liken to us?" Anyway, how I wish I could have found a way to live true my LDS youth...
Mistakes, challenges, are all growing experiences. You pick up. Move forward.
They don't define you. Unless you let them.
