- Mark Cavendish says he is "shocked" by how hard the route for the 2024 Tour de France is. Wednesday's announcement revealed the race, from 29 June to 21 July, will feature two visits to the Alps, with Paris avoided because of the Olympics.

Funny how the old school guys that are making comments on marks retirement/unretirement, are generally not getting in the headlines, I think Sean Kelly is the only one got contacted by gcn and even he said it was a bad choice that he won't win, all he did here was prove his ego means more to him than even his family, his wife begged him to stop, his kids want him at home as he's missed their lives so far, I have huge respect for Mark as a sprinter he's phenomenal, but I have zero respect for a man who doesn't know when to walk away from the table, not only that eddy won across all types of stages, Mark only has sprint stages, he's already got the record but the ego says no he wants to take a title from a legend who can't defend it, and if he doesn't he'll always be remembered as a fool, big risk to end your career on, he's frankly annoying everyone that isn't a british cycling fan which is most of the world

Except for when he messes up and blames it on everyone around him, we've all seen how he treated his mechanic on live TV, we've all seen how he will blame other riders when he doesn't win, and some of us who come from the same towns as his ex team mates know how much of a bully he is to his own team mates, if they make mark number one everyone gets on well, if one other guy so much as shows a slight bit of potential he turns into a crying bully
