Thanks! I've been getting asked about patches from previous videos so I thought I should do a video like this, sharing patches throughout the video. Stay tuned!
Love this video, great job. The first and second patch is very Juno-ish. I will shut up and watch the rest of the video. Thank you so much for taking the time to write out the settings for us.
Finally I get to see the settings… now my Muse will sound exactly the same. If you’re interested in selling custom patches for the Muse… I’ll gladly pay for them. Thanks bro
Hey thanks! BTW, I should mention. The voice tunings on your oscillators and the calibration on your filters could be a hair off from where mine are. Therefore feel free to experiment with the detuning of OSC 2 on the patches that have it detuned from OSC 1. The best setting on your exact MUSE may be slightly different than mine. Just use your ear to dial in what you like.
Thanks! The Astra is a good choice not just for the sound but it is stereo in and stereo out. Also, it can handle hotter signals compared to a typical guitar pedal. It's closer to a rack mount chorus effect.
Great sounds. I really like how lush you made patch 2 sound. To me it sounds like there was a small chorus even before you added chorus. What holding me back from buying the Muse is the few slots for patches. Do you know if it is possible to transfer patches to your computer? Only 256, or 512 with a/b layers? Thanx
Thanks! Yes the number of user slots could be increased, I'd really appreciate that. I make a lot of patches and I have to use the factory slots as well for saving. You can transfer the patches to your computer though, so that helps. It's done over usb by going into "Disk Mode" like your upgrading firmware. Thanks for watching!
@@deepsynths Yeah. But since there are two sounds in every 256 slot, your able to store 512 theoreticly, or am I wrong? And do you think that more slots could be made from Moog with an update in the future?
@@onathanj People have mentioned that but I don't see it working that way. There's 16 Banks with 16 Patches in each bank. You can name those 16 Patches in each bank, ONE name. You can go into split or stacked mode and use 2 sounds under that patch name as one of 2 Timbres with the Organize feature. That patch still has one name and 8 voices total so you have to lesson the voices for each timbre to start with when using both. It's just not really a useable "workaround". There's 256 patch slots and I have no idea if they are going to increase it.
@@deepsynths Thanx for clarifying, though thats not good news. I still want to try it out to see what sounds it is capable of. Your video here show that it can produce sounds that apply my taste much more than most other videos, and I would love to here you try to replicate other classic synths with it, mostly Oberheim (Had an Ob-6 but need 5 octaves and more modulation capabilities, and cant afford the Obx8;-)
Thanks! I noticed that some of the patches sounded like they had a bit more resonance listening to the playback after recording. It may be where I'm located when recording that synth in relation to the monitors. I'm trying to figure it out.
Awesome! Some of these patches sound really close to my 106. I think using the real Juno chorus would nail it. The Astra sounds good. Have you tried other chorus fx?
Thanks! Yes I've experimented with many chorus pedals, rack and plugs over the years. I found the Astra to be the best for this sound using a synth. I have a Strymon Ola which is nice but I like the Astra better. They can both handle synth level signals and have stereo in and out. If you're looking for that the options become limited. The Juno 60 pedal isn't bad but it doesn't handle the hotter signal as well and is mono in. The Klark Teknik rack unit is a more subtle flavor, I use it now and then. The Roland Juno Chorus plug is good as is the Tal-chorus-LX plug (they still sound a little like plugins though).
I think the Astra smooths it out a bit more but it doesn't have the noise that the Juno chorus does. It's a problem with analog modulation effects in general. I've got some vintage chorus pedals that sound great but hissy. Ok for jamming but not so great for recording. Some units are worse than others. I've been happy with the depth of the Astra's sound. You can save settings on an app too which in nice.
You can go into firmware update mode and pull the patch files out when the Muse is connected to your computer via usb. Very easy. I posted the settings because not everyone wants to download a file and I would have to load it to a server for downloading. I could do that but I felt this was the best option for this video. Ultimately the best patches are the ones you make because they represent how your ear hears things. I'd rather share patches than sell them although people seem to want to buy patches. Who knows :).
DCOs, vintage analog chorus chips - so won’t sound the same, obviously @Deep Synths, try the free TAL Chorus, if you haven’t already … it seems very good
Fair enough. If you see it in a store and try it out I would say don't judge by the presets. I was jamming last night with my Prophet 10 and the Muse and I can say it sounded different but great next to it. But hey, that's how I hear things. Thanks for watching!
@@deepsynths well I mean a pro 10 and a muse should sound different… one is sequential with Curtis filters and one is a Moog… but so far I’ll stick to my mono and paraphonic moogs… sequential still has the polyphonic game on lock… plus a pro 10 sounds like you took a trip back to the 1970s, takes me to a different time period every time
@@TheCanadianDreamEvergreen Yeah the Prophet is sweet. It has a magic to the underlining tone that I love. What was cool is that they didn't get in each others way if you know what I mean.
