Ride bikes. 🚲 Drink beer. 🍺 Live happy. 😀 Спорт
Alan, we met at Whitefish Bike Retreat when you and Jay walked in on the eve of the race. You passed out some Subway gift cards as our first Trail Angel. Thank you so much! It came in handy when I needed it most. What an epic adventure! And your videos helped so many of us in a variety of ways, eg a buddy used a shower cap during the constant rain storms and I used some plastic bags on my feet. And I found myself smiling thinking of you as that was your priority.Great memories, mon!
Rick, great meeting you in Whitefish! Glad you had an amazing journey and that I could help in some tiny way🙌🙌 So stoked for you :) ride on !!
3:52 when I rode my bike across the US I crossed the Rockies through Rollins pass, it’s quite a challenging (but beautiful) ride. It takes you to 11,700 ft (3,500m) and is absolutely littered with baby heads of granite.
Sounds brutally beautiful 🙌
Great banter gentlemen. That 1:44 went by quick it was so good. Thanks DT for putting this out. Till we ride again.
yeah buddy! lookin forward to riding with ya again soon too... can't wait to get the band back together :)
Great interview Alan, enjoyed it immensely ... keep up the great TD and backpacking content! :-)
Thanks, John - will have JayP’s bike check and gear unpacking up in a couple weeks after I’m back from vacation / Colorado Trail :)
Thank for getting them together .
It was a blast, glad I could do it, Stephen... :)
Cool show, thanks for putting it together Alan
Thanks for watching, Shewie :)
This was awesome! Thanks Alan for putting this together.
Glad you enjoyed, David :) If I do something like that again, I'll have the setup/audio more dialed - ride on!
@@DirtyTeethMTB No worries. Actually I kind of liked the low cost format as it really epitomizes bikepack racing. - Get it done with what you have.
thanks and praise.
Thanks, Mossy !!
Good stuff Homie
Thanks, KC - hoot!!
Great job getting these two together. I really enjoyed watching the livestream show and hearing about their ride. They mentioned that they each have a coach, and it makes me wonder about the percentage of riders who have one vs. not having one. I plan on riding it in ‘22, but never thought about needing a coach. Did you have a coach when you completed the divide?
James, I didn't have a coach... but I did consult with friends and TD vets and had a "training plan"... I know Jay does consulting and there are a couple other ultra endurance coaches out there like Lynda Wallenfels, Kurt Refsnider, etc that put together plans for riders specific to the event... coaches help keep you accountable... Definitely worth looking into - cheers!
Great content as usual, anywhere we can download this so we can listen on the bike?
Thanks, Ian :) - it's only avail here on youtube, but hopefully can you just hit play and listen as long as you have cell reception? Sorry!!

Hi DT, Lee Here from London, do you know why they went from Atlantic City to Brush Mountain Lodge via Rawlins rather than go Atlantic City - Wamsutter -Brush Mountain Lodge which is shorter? This seems to change year on year, 2019 the riders went via Wamsutter. Thank you in advance.
Hi Lee, Rawlings is on the original ACA / Adventure Cycling Association route and Wamsutter is the current Tour Divide route… since this years race was border to border, riders had the option of doing the traditional “great Divide race” which followed the ACA route or the TD route… kind of confusing… but hope that helps
Great interview...do you know what flatbar Brendan put on his cuthroat?
David, funny - I just rode with Brendan yesterday… he doesn’t know what flat bar he’s using on the Cutty… when he decided to try a flat bar, he grabbed one out of the “cheapy” parts bin at his LBS to try out… unbranded, no markings… he liked it and never changed it 😂
@@DirtyTeethMTB Thanks so much for the reply - I hoping to do the Divide next year and based on your great videos have myself a cuthroat to get sorted...not getting on too well with the drops...but love the frameset will make the change and go from there.
what saddle did both of you ride
can't speak for Brendan, but I believe JayP rode a fizik tundra... ruclips.net/video/ekAodhv2A4c/видео.html
Great stuff I ate it all once again. Only complain was the bad sound and the whispering in the background. haha wtf :) Invest in a mike would pay out. Love all your content Allan
First time doing a livestream... not usually my jam... set it up at last minute with crazy schedules and had to use my iPhone because my GoPro had tech issues (bummer because my GoPro has a great mic)... I figured something is better than nothing and did my best... thanks
I thought the sound was good.
Glad someone did :)
Had to give up listening to the interview 25 minutes in because I really couldn't understand or follow the conversation. 😣
bummer
I had no issue
Why is Jay tachypneic? and fidigety? kinda like a stimulant response...
If you've followed him for some time, he's usually a pretty spunky guy
Eric, he's definitely got a lot of energy :) Ride on!
My wife walked in while I was watching this interview and asked, "Is he high?" referring to Jay.
I think Jay had a nice buzz by the end of the video lol.
