I think it would be awesome to go to a location like this, it makes me think of all the cool space stuff I used to look at growing up. Seeing the Earth from this spot would make me feel so insignificant and small! If you could go here, what would be the coolest thing for you?

Another reason for the raised walkway, would be to prevent the spread of lunar dust from all the walking turists. That is relevant since some disturbance of the lunar soil would happen when the turist spot were constructed.

I once was part of a team at a sand-sculpting competition on the 25th anniversary of the lunar landing. We had to fill a 30’ square, but had a small team, so we came up with the idea of sculpting a lunar rover, except with big fat slicks for rear tires, shooting up a huge rooster tail of moon dust. The rover was life size and had two astronauts on it. The rest of the area we sculpted into craters of various sizes. And our team leader had made some plywood flip flops with the slotted patted of the moon boots on the bottom, and he ran all over the site leaving boot prints. Our sculpture was titled, “The Eagle has Sanded, Astronaut what your country can do for you”. We won the competition. The judge said that it was partly because of the timeliness of the subject matter, but that it was the footprints that REALLY pushed us over the top with the judges.

@@CosmicQuestHobbies You are more than welcome! I think the biggest problem making a diorama like this is the sheer size of what constitutes the landing site. I've been thinking about my project for about a decade, now. My current plan is to use a 1/144th scale LM (and per your project, interior exhibits like the F1 and CM displays that may be seen through the windows) and to surround the Decent Stage in an enclosed ring-shaped walkway. In any event, your project will serve as a VERY good guide.
One thing I appreciate is how you depicted the US Flag blown-down, as it is (unfortunately) in real life; even though you took some artistic license in showing it in all its colors despite the likelihood that the Sun's rays likely bleached it white. I'll probably do the same.
      Again, great diorama!

    Detailed it
Outside his apartment used flour and silver and grey spray paint, dropped several size balls ti make craters added little grey rocks an sparu painted it to look like the moon.
Built a tent around it to block out light , added light, took black and white photos and had it proscessed to posters. Man it looked like grainey nasa photos

I really want that to be real one day, even if I could never go there.
I wouldn't worry about those first footprints, either ... the famous "first footprint" photo was taken just to judge how far the astronauts' overboots would sink into the surface, and were obliterated pretty quickly as the astros walked around. And most people think the flag would be faded to near-white by now.

Not to knock your efforts, I've never made a diorama, but that visitor centre is bothering my inner nerd, it's too earthly, it doesn't feel like something that would be built on the Lunar surface, as its a rectangle it would need to be reinforced as the pressure from inside and the hard vacuum outside would constantly be trying to pop it open at the corners, also the big windows, whilst a good idea on earth would need to be made of very thick UV resistant glass or even plexiglass to contend with radiation, in fact they would probably need shutters of some kind like on the observatory module on the ISS. Again it's a matter of taste, your model is otherwise fine.

No worries! I'm thinking that's nothing some good hurricane ties can't fix, lol.
