I thought It'd be fun to do some shooting in the desert areas near Fallon, Nevada with it to make it look like it was hovering over the ground out there. If you look close, you ca...

      Thanks for the question WiFuzzy! I'm definitely still learning weathering, etc.. for these things. My concept for this ship was that it was like 100 years old because its been kicking around for a long time and got all kinds of things added to it over that time period. It kinds of reminds me of a rusty old Buick that someone got stuck driving as their first car. I would likely have only minimal weathering on a newer vessel, limiting it to things like carbon around engines, etc..

    Just as a nit-pick: if they're out in interstellar space (and a ship is is a vanishingly-small target for a warp ship to find), why've they got a shuttle? If it's for a projected landing at PC (and methinks they're not going to be happy hamsters after they see that planet you did the diorama of...), shouldn't it be under a protective cover or something for the duration of the trip? Putting it into a hangar with a platform that slides in and out would've been cool. :)

    • @CosmicQuestHobbies
      @CosmicQuestHobbies 22 дня назад

      Good questions!! The thoughts going through my noggin were that the shuttle could've been used for landings at planets, asteroids, etc.. Or for examination on the outside of the ship for repair necessity. I agree, the crew probably won't like what they find on the planet they are tentatively headed too, lol. Not a very hospitable place. I'm thinking that once the ship is in space for a while, one of the warp capable ships will eventually bring them the information that PC is probably not going to be a great place to live, and may want to divert to a more hospitable location. One of the things I didn't explain in the video is that the upper landing pad actually goes into a garage like structure, similar to what the communication dishes go into. I mostly just put the shuttle on the pad to help give a sense of scale.

  • @empireranger
    @empireranger 22 дня назад

    Curves. Ahhh. Now we're cookin' with gas! :) At 1/350 scale, people probably aren't a major concern, but those of us building 1/350-scale Star Trek models found one Japanese model maker who makes a set of Japanese WWII sailors that can easily be painted to look like anyone you like. Got mine through Amazon, but pretty sure Hobbylink Japan has them too. Pity you didn't have room to make it just a tidge bigger. Drop the number of crew and it could've been N-scale like all the other Pathfinderverse creations. Looking forward to the next project!

      Hey Empire Ranger! Thanks for the tip on the figures!! I 3d printed some teeny-tiny little astronauts. I didn't end up using them.
