Hello everybody! I just made my new progress video, if you want to comment and give me some tips go first watch my new video because I have progressed a bit since. Thanks! ruclips.net/video/9BmxQFK3NpQ/видео.html

Wonderful. Should have my first violin in a week or so. Just starting at age 74. Will save your video so I can watch you progress when I am discouraged or feel stuck. Long hair shows more character in your appearance, I recommend you grow it back. Wish you all the best ( : { )
Wow, Thats a great inspiration to hear. One is not late to anything.. Gotta embrace newness and possibility to life so that we may find life and fulfilment :) Wish you luck :)
Brilliant, well done for achieving this standard in just a year! I haven't read the other comments, but here's my suggestions: 1. Work on using vibrato, and try slower tunes to improve your tone. 2. Work on the different positions, probably in this order: 3rd position, 5th position, 2nd, 4th. 3. Practice all scales and arpeggios in every key, 2 octaves. If possible, use a metronome. Try for accuracy over speed. This will massively improve your playing overall. (You can also use a metronome with your tunes to improve your rhythm). 4. Get a better quality violin! You deserve it. Your tone will improve overnight! 5. If you can, join an orchestra or chamber group, or if you can't try some classical and baroque at home, Bach is good.
u inspired me!!!!.... I have been slacking on my violin lesson for a month. and I got no intent to continue it, but after see u play the violin, its get me on fire!! Thanks!!!
@shugo104 are you suggesting that the viola doesnt require motivation???? ^^ probably not but it looks like that haha. I feel slightly offended as viola player :D
Wow that was some really fast learning!! Just one humble tip so you can get better, Don't be afraid to use more bow!!! Use some of that lower bow too, my friend. Anyway, you're progress is really impressive, keep striving to get better!!
Thanks for all the comments! I can not answer all because there are too many (but I read them all) the video went from 5,000 to almost 20,000 views in 3 days. I have noticed a lot of comments about the fact that I do not use all my bow but only the half. I'm working hard on this problem and I'm progressing well. Also on the rhythm which is sometimes very bad, I work on it. I would make another video in the coming months. I progress well I already play better than in the video, thank you all.
Well, I don't need to say anything then. Those are the two things I noticed as well as tempo. Needing to use more of your bow and slowing down a bit with some of the songs. It's normal for beginners to want to play really fast. It's just how our brains are. I suggest trying a metronome or a metronome app to help with the tempo. Other then that you sound really good.
Woah!!!!! Dang dude, you caught on really fast!!!!! Keep it up!!!!! In a couple more years you'll be incredible!!!!! But one thing I noticed is that you seem stuck at the tip of the bow (I also struggled with that A LOT), so mabye do some exercises at the middle or frog of the bow, it will increase your speed and technique!!!!! ♡♡♡♡♡
I started playing the violin when I was 3 years old and having been playing for a while as one may imagine, I would humbly suggest that when playing, you should keep your bow closer to the bridge, instead of to the fingerboard and you should also look less at your fingers and put the violin more on your shoulder, instead of in front of you so much. However, I am very impressed by your capability in such a short period of time.
Fluebado Fluebado je sais pas si tu vas me comprendre (I'm french 😅And I can speak a little English) I started playing the violin when I was 6 years old, and now I'm 13 years old !And you how long do you play the violin ? Désolée si vous ne comprenez pas tous 😅😅
I started playing when I was 4 and I'm 16 now. However i quit lessons taught by a professional around the age of 9 because my family was not able to afford lessons. Up until this point I'm self taught.
Nice progress. Not many people can get from an absolute beginner to a performance level in just 1 year. Many of us struggled to even play the right notes. Looks like you have a very good memory. Nice video...
I started playing bass the summer of 2016 and I became first chair bassist in my school orchestra this year. It might be because I do literally everything in my school that requires a bass. Musicals, jazz band, show choir, all that.
Your video helped motivate me to finally buy my violin. Today is my first day and I've been trying to make this thing sound nice for hours. Thanks for sharing your progress. Your Tam Lin was excellent by the way.
Thx for posting this video which gives me lots of confidence. I am almost 20 yrs old and I want to learn violin so much. I will start to learn it now and try my best.😊
Oh thank you Katy ! I like so much your videos, your tutos help me a lot ! As you can see I play your version of Tam Lin (but a little higher) in the video :D
Videos like these give me hope. I've been wanting to start playing the violin for a while now, was planning on buying one for my birthday in June but in the end I didn't have the money. But I will finally order one next month!
At first I thought: nooo, keep your wrist straight (and leave the stickers out)! But your posture got really good during the year! Your left hand pinky was straight at first, but that got a lot better as well, I think you're progressing really good!!! Maybe it's a good idea to practice some slow songs as well, they ask for different skills and control. And what method or exercises are you using? Keep it up!
Thanks for the comment! I do not just play only fast songs, i like play slow too but as I prefer rhythmic music, I chose to play this for my video :D I dont use any method, i just play the music i like. Sometimes I do some exercises that I find on youtube and its all. And i work my solfege too. (btw im not sure my english is correct, i need to practice more^^)
Ulir I would actually recommend if you want to practice a nice variety of violin music that you get the Suzuki book series. Each book is full of violin pieces that gives you plenty to work on. Of course I would suggest starting on book 1 and go up from there when you feel you've mastered each piece since each book gets progressively harder and harder. It'll teach you so much and in the long run will definitely help! You're already pretty amazing for only playing a year! Plus your English is just fine :)
Ulir I like that you play what you like to play instead of following some book! I play what I like and it opens up your skills and sometimes you play things you never thought you would be able to play. love it!
Sh*t, you just made my day! :) I have not even touched a violin, but shopping for one. Thanks for your great encouragement, and for sharing your wonderful learned talent!
At four months, I hadn't even been introduced to a bow. In 5th grade orchestra, we started off plucking for the first few months. The good thing about teaching yourself or not being taught through a school program, is that you can progress at your own rate.
Julian Broke that's not always true. i started learning in my school orch & i went ahead alone. yes you'll still be learning w them but if you have the mentality to figure out how to do things than you'll be fine. (i shifted & did vibrato after 3mths )
You are progressing really well compared to other people. A bit of intonation (scales), a bit of open strings for fixing the right hand (it's very stiff, also your wrist is really low), and you are ready to fiddle and learn new things. These are a few good tips for those who do it for fun and the joy of music. If you wanted to do it professionally, you would've started 10 years ago :D Have fun playing the violin, it's the easiest instrument to pick girls up with 👌
Really amazing progress ! I too have been playing for only a year ! And i wish i made progress vidoes. I cant wait to see what you could achieve in two years!
That 1 Month though.... xD The very fist progress was just... unbelievably quick~ Inspiring! How many hours did you practice a day? And did you take days off?
Well, it’s how it usually happens if you practice everyday. When I first got my violin, I practiced at least 5-7 hours a day. I usually took Saturdays off but practiced on Sunday again. So basically 5-7 hours, 6 times a week. You get used to reading notes and where to place fingers after the first 2 weeks (if you follow my method). I stopped playing after a month though because I had to give back the violin.
ジ萎よりmoonflower 7 hours a day..? Im guessing thats for people with no work or school that is. I barely have 30 min to spare on my instrument on a weekday lmao
@@abookishfable8268 I have a full time job and I still practice 4 hours a day. I wake up earlier and go to sleep a little bit later. But I don't have kids or a family or many commitments except for my job.
I saw someone commenting that he was 71 and wanted to start the violin. 34 years is nothing compared to 71 so just do it. You got nothing to lose, only to learn. You only live once, do as much as you can before you die
Man!!! Greetings from Brazil! Congratulations bro, this video made me rethink a lot of areas of my life where I'm struggling to do the first step. You rock!!
omg new subscriber here and i quit violin when i was in 8th grade but now im looking forward to play violin again and its nice watching how you progress within a year!! btw im from the Philippines.
The music that played in the min 1:15 is algerian song hhh 😆 it s name (ya rayah ) Aya les algeriens beyno reahkom wela ni wahdi (hhh hey i know that u can't read it Because it's algerian language )
Dude you're killing it! Cooley's reel hell yes. Your bow is moving really straight which is real good, you have a natural talent for fiddling. You'll be a star in no time, although you already sound great. Are you learning your tunes by ear?
haha thanks mate ! I play mainly by sheet, sometime by ear. You think that sounds nice ?^^ I'm not satisfied yet, but i'm progressing quickly so im happy !
Hello, I'm Jorge, I'm 22 years old and I'm from Bolivia, your video inspired me a lot to see how you start to progress with the violin. I bought a violin and I study alone, it is a very beautiful instrument and I hope that in 1 year I play as well as you.
If anyone is interested in playing violin the greatest success that ive had was by using the Ajana music lessons (just google it) without a doubt the best plan that I have ever tried.
great job. one thing id change is to work on your accuracy ALOT instead of rushing to out do your last piece. it really helps form goos habits to make those harder pieces easy
we all start from the same line. A line that doesn't go anywhere. Neither up or down. With our own choice, we can all make that line go up and hit the stars! - somebody like you -
I'm very envious! I really want to learn to play the violin. You're very good, I wish I could buy one and just try to learn without going to classes and only use online resources.
Wonderful playing and song choices! I liked Drunken Sailor and Pirates of the Caribbean song. What is the name of the second to last song you did? Great progress, keep it up! 😃 P.S: (I liked your hair style in the middle of the video the best!) Many Thanks!
Hi, Im from Chile ! I like your video. Nice progress. BUT REMEMBER, Dont put your daily practice on fast things. Technique is more than just play things fast. See more vibrato exercises, very slow exercises. Maybe you play six notes, but if theese notes are well played (dynamics like vibrato, crescendo, stacatto, etc.) You'll be better. Hope that my comment helps you .
Wow, I start play violin in September this year and I wanted to learn like you, fast with my favourite songs. But I went to "music school' and three weeks ago I started to play with 3rd finger. Now I'm learning how to play one Polish christmas song and I don't like it :( I'm thinking about start learn on my own, with songs that are not boring Btw great video! Yaaaaa evolution of your hair is the best part of this
Watching you play, the sound is awesome. I am 53 years old and I just picked up a used 3/4 violin at a thrift store but it is missing the bow. I intend to teach myself and learn some of my culture Irish music 😉 Thanks for the video !
Why in the hell would you try and learn on a 3/4 size? Are you a fucking midget?? You intend on teaching yourself one of the most difficult instruments that there is to learn? For God sake man, use your fucking brain (Do you even have one?). I'm 53 and have been playing for 46 years. You will never make it, trust me, I am not going to BLOW SMOKE UP YOUR ASS, I am just being REAL. Pick up the guitar.
I played violin for 8 years. That's so cool seeing the progress you made. Keep it up and you will make even more progress. Practice makes perfect. Great job!
waw it's awesome! you learn very very fast, and it's your first intrument! , i saw some people learn relatively fast but they knew how to play others intruments like guitars, congratulations and keep it up. Greetings from Argentina
I learnt by standing next to a wall and holding my hand parallel to it with the palm facing away from the wall and knocking on the wall without moving any of the arm but the wrist. then you can transfer that to the violin.
This is very inspiring for any adult unsure about taking up a musical instrument. Also, I love that you showed both Mortal Kombats in there, with incorrect and correct notes. Well done.

The more violin skill you gain
The more hair you lose

Ulir love the 10th song! this is great video thanks for sharing!
Drunken sailors is my favorite song and you did good for your first month.
Wonderful. Should have my first violin in a week or so. Just starting at age 74. Will save your video so I can watch you progress when I am discouraged or feel stuck. Long hair shows more character in your appearance, I recommend you grow it back. Wish you all the best ( : { )
I hope your violin progress goes well! (:
that's so great! good luck ^^
You should upload a video of you playing. I’d like to see how things have turned out.
@ Nomad 1700-I'm 64 and just beginning, is there any chance of your posting vids demonstrating your progress?
Wow, Thats a great inspiration to hear.

Dude, your progress is breathtaking
Thanks mate :D
+Ulir how much time u practiced in a day?
Brilliant, well done for achieving this standard in just a year! I haven't read the other comments, but here's my suggestions:
You make me wish I kept up the violin as a kid. Now I know there is still hope for me! Great job!!
How old are you
@@becharfarida318 why does it matter?
Oh so the more you practice violin the more your hair becomes shorter
No his hair don't becomes shorter, it's just his head getting bigger ^^
All plucked out for strings
Saitama ahahah
Tambuko, no, the more that he practiced the more mature that he became.
LOLLLL😂😂😂😂😂😂
You inspired me to play the violin, I'm going to star the next week! ^_^
Good luck !

man you just inspire me to go out and learn ahahha =) im 34 but still never too late right =) thanks
Andre Cabral You’re 34 and still watch anime? That’s goals bro
Respect for still watching animes #WhatALegend
Lol ur still young
I saw someone commenting that he was 71 and wanted to start the violin. 34 years is nothing compared to 71 so just do it. You got nothing to lose, only to learn. You only live once, do as much as you can before you die
Man!!! Greetings from Brazil! Congratulations bro, this video made me rethink a lot of areas of my life where I'm struggling to do the first step. You rock!!
omg.. dude... you learn soo fast... How much did you practice per day?
Something like 15-20 hours per week in the first months, now like 5-10h. ;-) Thanks
OMG practice like maybe 2 and 1/2 hours a week for three years!
Shana Araya Everywhere Armys
oh, hi army :)
He gives me Hope 😏😏😏
That’s much better than my progression from just starting in 3rd grade all the way up until 7th grade lol
Real title: how long it took to master every song in Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag
omg new subscriber here and i quit violin when i was in 8th grade but now im looking forward to play violin again and its nice watching how you progress within a year!! btw im from the Philippines.
Wow! *fantastic progress!* and it is your 1st musical instrument?! incredible!
This encourages me that I can also do this if I try my hardest. 🙏 Awesome video 😊
He sure practiced 40 hours a day ...
I don't get his sentence.... 2 days is only 24 hours but yea, if this is a joke then r/wooosh to me
@@starry4873 woosh then it is :D

WOW! You improved FAST! You are quite talented to pick it up so quickly! Very inspiring! Thank you for sharing!
The music that played in the min 1:15 is algerian song hhh 😆 it s name (ya rayah )
Aya les algeriens beyno reahkom wela ni wahdi (hhh hey i know that u can't read it
Because it's algerian language )
marakch wahdek😂
Good luck to you on the music filled days to come kind sir.
Okay hank you for the advice, I noted all this!
Sarcastically
Hello, I'm Jorge, I'm 22 years old and I'm from Bolivia, your video inspired me a lot to see how you start to progress with the violin. I bought a violin and I study alone, it is a very beautiful instrument and I hope that in 1 year I play as well as you.
love the hair at month 10,11 and 12
You have become an inspiration :D so amazing to see how one can achieve anything through hard work
If anyone is interested in playing violin the greatest success that ive had was by using the Ajana music lessons (just google it) without a doubt the best plan that I have ever tried.
One of the many video that made me want to learn to play the violin. Subscribed :D
great job. one thing id change is to work on your accuracy ALOT instead of rushing to out do your last piece. it really helps form goos habits to make those harder pieces easy
Sehr beeindruckend! ich lerne gerade violine bin seit eineinhalb monaten dabei.
we all start from the same line. A line that doesn't go anywhere. Neither up or down. With our own choice, we can all make that line go up and hit the stars!
- somebody like you -
Congratulations!!! You're an inspiration!
I'm very envious! I really want to learn to play the violin. You're very good, I wish I could buy one and just try to learn without going to classes and only use online resources.
Really good progress boy👍
how many times have you practiced in a week? and have you took lessons? ( sry if my English is bad I'm from germany)
Something like 15-20 hours per week in the first months, now like 5-10h. ;-) And 5 hours of lessons in all. My English is bad too haha^^
WHAT THE WHAT DUDE YOUR A professionallllllll
TEACH MEEE. I PLAY VIOLIN
THE CROWD GOSE WILDDD.
the more I learn the better my grades A+++++
Wonderful playing and song choices! I liked Drunken Sailor and Pirates of the Caribbean song. What is the name of the second to last song you did?
Great progress, keep it up! 😃
P.S: (I liked your hair style in the middle of the video the best!) Many Thanks!
thanks, its tetris main theme the song you say i think
You were way better than me at month 1! I’ve been playing for 3 years and you are really good!
Now I'm learning how to play one Polish christmas song and I don't like it :(
I'm thinking about start learn on my own, with songs that are not boring
Btw great video!
Belle progression khey ! :ok:
Cimer chef
Wow great evolution, I'm impressed, I didn't think it was possible to evolve so much in such a short time
wow! your 3 months is my 7 months xD :'(
Falalala how much did you practice per day during those 3 months?
Falalala DX
I want to start planting again! Thanks for this video.
I liked his hair most during month 2 and month 8/9
I played violin for 8 years. That's so cool seeing the progress you made. Keep it up and you will make even more progress. Practice makes perfect. Great job!
0:48 what's the original song
Ashiqur Rahman idk
Gothic 3 ost Ishtar
I like his free style practice with beautiful environment!
Ouiiiii!
Mdr
i don’t speak franch but i liked this comment because i saw Darude Sandstorm
I've already played the song that he played at month twelve in 3rd grade. But that was really impressive.
Hi, i'm brazilian, my name is Josy, i'm violinist too, and i liked u. How old there you?
Senhor e Senhora Alencastro hey ... I'm jose ...any advice for beginners like me?
waw it's awesome! you learn very very fast, and it's your first intrument! , i saw some people learn relatively fast but they knew how to play others intruments like guitars, congratulations and keep it up. Greetings from Argentina
Lovely indeed. Wonderfully to watch ♡♡♡
I am so confuse because where is the classic music.
白樺衫亞 there is so much more to life than classical music.
OK but I am start at classic music .
I think you absolutely incredible!! By the way all of the back drops and areas you play at in this video look really cool! Great job
Without theory?
Well, I played the violin without theory for 3 years, until a few months ago.
Dude wut. I'm also a beginner (adult) and damn you got good really fast!! I'm amazed really.
welp im glad i click on it too many show-offs come with their 3 month vibrato which are annoying!!!!!
haha true
I've been playing for a year and can't do vibrato :/
-Kit- The trick is starting with one finger at a time and keeping the movement coming from the wrist for the left hand.
I learnt by standing next to a wall and holding my hand parallel to it with the palm facing away from the wall and knocking on the wall without moving any of the arm but the wrist. then you can transfer that to the violin.
I've been playing for 10 years and just learned vibrato about a year to a year and a half ago
This is very inspiring for any adult unsure about taking up a musical instrument. Also, I love that you showed both Mortal Kombats in there, with incorrect and correct notes. Well done.
