I'm English, my Russian partner (sadly deceased ) lived in the city of Perm, west of where this was filmed. She had family which lived in a village 180 kms north of the city which we visited whenever i was in Russia and it was identical to this. The houses were 100% wood built and many of them had 3rd and 4th generation families living there. We swam in a river that ran through the bottom of the garden, picked wild mushrooms and a small, very sweet wild strawberry called Zemlyanika. My favourite way to eat the fruit was when it was made into preserve. You had a cup of green tea and instead of sugar in the tea we just used to eat a small amount of jam from a teaspoon before each sip. My partner had an 81 yo Aunt who, although she had piped water to the house, heated and filled her bath with water from the river. The video brought back beautiful memories as it is exactly how a lot of rural Russia still is.

Every life has problems but I honestly think that life in this little Russian village would be much easier than living in a city. Maybe harder physically but that goes with farm life. Amazing video!!!! I too am from the US and like BuckeyeBushCraft, I am dying to see Russian and Eastern Europe with my own eyes one day. I live just 3 km outside of Washington DC and I am tired of the city congestion and traffic and the rat race. I grew up during the cold war era, so Russia and Eastern Europe were always a mystery to me during that time and now with modern technology, I can see the countries I have always longed to see - only would be better if it were in real life. Hello from Canada! I love Eastern Europe. My girlfriend is from Ukraine and speaks Ukrainian, Russian, and English. She is a very beautiful and kind woman and a great step-mom to my kids. We are planning to go to Ukraine and Russia in 2021 with her family. Eastern Europe is a beautiful place with such kind and fun people! My ancestors were Germans and fact that I'm Canadian means I'm a pretty good beer drinker, but my vodka drinking skills are pretty weak compared to my girlfriend and her family! I had a different perception of Russia until I visited there last year. My view to Russia and Russian people changes completely . It's clean green and full of friendly people . Some difficulty with language but people were helpful that made my visit a lot easier. I am from Nepal and I like Russia and Russian people .

I remember Russian villages from my childhood. This is living broken down to it's minimum core. To something what really matters and what is worth the living and the everyday struggle. Man I'm missing the Motherland... Not the big Russian cities with all those rich people who don't give a damn shit about an old man sitting on the bench. I feel you. I remember my village in Belarus. Good times. I often miss it, the freedom and simple life. Running barefoot everyday, waking up to roosters, watching the cows, running fields and hills in the rain, playing in the woods, fishing, enjoying the smallest things like warm milk and syrup mixed with water, fruits and veggies, home made bread, home made butter and sugar on top, :) dried fish and so on. All the things I do not like anymore. Bread with butter and sugar on top? Gross! What was I thinking? lol Now I miss it but I didn't make the choice to leave it. First a few years I dreamed of going back, I missed it so much. When I visited the village in 2008 after 10 years of not being there, I felt so happy. I miss it all the time but I could never go back and live there, because my life has changed a lot. I can only miss it. It just felt magical, too good to be true, too childhood. Going back there won't be the same. P.s. I didn't drink vodka but I did drink beer since I was 4. Idk how, that stuff is gross to me now.
I feel you brat) I myself used to live in Russia 3 years ago, but my family decided to move to America due to political corruption, but I miss it a lot. Of course there are better standards of living in America, but I still feel like I am a Russian and not an American. I go to school here and have some friends, but it is nothing like in Russia. People overall here are very different, in a bad way for me.
Sorry you feel that way. How are they different in the US? Your English is very good for someone who just moved 3 years ago, so I doubt you have any communication problems. I lived in Russia before and unfortunately I did not like it there. There was way too much racism and bullying. In US I enjoyed going to school, and despite the whole slavery BS that ppl tend to bring up, racism here has not been at that level wherever I lived. Also, I haven't faced any bullying in US because it's less common here. In fact, it's normally limited to verbal or cyber. Not actual, blood involved, beating and other extremely cruel ways. It always depends on the areas.
Freedom comes from natural rights and law, not physical space. If you have no right to own property, then it doesn't matter how much is there your not free to have it.

Every life has problems but I honestly think that life in this little Russian village would be much easier than living in a city. Maybe harder physically but that goes with farm life. Amazing video!!!! I too am from the US and like BuckeyeBushCraft, I am dying to see Russian and Eastern Europe with my own eyes one day. I live just 3 km outside of Washington DC and I am tired of the city congestion and traffic and the rat race. I grew up during the cold war era, so Russia and Eastern Europe were always a mystery to me during that time and now with modern technology, I can see the countries I have always longed to see - only would be better if it were in real life.

Hello from Canada! I love Eastern Europe. My girlfriend is from Ukraine and speaks Ukrainian, Russian, and English. She is a very beautiful and kind woman and a great step-mom to my kids. We are planning to go to Ukraine and Russia in 2021 with her family. Eastern Europe is a beautiful place with such kind and fun people! My ancestors were Germans and fact that I'm Canadian means I'm a pretty good beer drinker, but my vodka drinking skills are pretty weak compared to my girlfriend and her family! I also will have to learn to make proper toasts while drinking! Thanks for the video I loved it!

in Belarus my grandfather built our house & barns from the birch trees from our forest all by hand, we wove all linen from flax & fabric from spun wool, we only bought sugar & tea, everything else was from the land.

I remember Russian villages from my childhood. This is living broken down to it's minimum core. To something what really matters and what is worth the living and the everyday struggle. Actually I had no choice as I was a kid. The discussion has been made for me.
I feel you. I remember my village in Belarus. Good times. I often miss it, the freedom and simple life. Running barefoot everyday, waking up to roosters, watching the cows, running fields and hills in the rain, playing in the woods, fishing, enjoying the smallest things like warm milk and syrup mixed with water, fruits and veggies, home made bread, home made butter and sugar on top, :) dried fish and so on. All the things I do not like anymore. Bread with butter and sugar on top? Gross! What was I thinking? lol Now I miss it but I didn't make the choice to leave it. First a few years I dreamed of going back, I missed it so much. When I visited the village in 2008 after 10 years of not being there, I felt so happy. I miss it all the time but I could never go back and live there, because my life has changed a lot. I can only miss it. It just felt magical, too good to be true, too childhood. Going back there won't be the same.
P.s. I didn't drink vodka but I did drink beer since I was 4. Idk how, that stuff is gross to me now.
I feel you brat) I myself used to live in Russia 3 years ago, but my family decided to move to America due to political corruption, but I miss it a lot. Of course there are better standards of living in America, but I still feel like I am a Russian and not an American. I go to school here and have some friends, but it is nothing like in Russia. People overall here are very different, in a bad way for me.
Sorry you feel that way. How are they different in the US? Your English is very good for someone who just moved 3 years ago, so I doubt you have any communication problems. I lived in Russia before and unfortunately I did not like it there. There was way too much racism and bullying. In US I enjoyed going to school, and despite the whole slavery BS that ppl tend to bring up, racism here has not been at that level wherever I lived. Also, I haven't faced any bullying in US because it's less common here. In fact, it's normally limited to verbal or cyber. Not actual, blood involved, beating and other extremely cruel ways. It always depends on the areas.
