I love your channel and content! I had BV once at 15 due to sexual contact and left it untreated for ~ 3 months. Once treated I had chronic burning for about 1.5 years. No doctor understood why. I do believe some of it was mental too. After years of feeling normal and having protected and unprotected sex I got BV again with a new partner. Ugh! This time I caught it early - but it still didn't matter. My symptoms were like scratchy pain and muscle dysfunction. It was the scariest thing of my life. I was so depressed. I had panic attacks. So so awful. After months of pelvic floor therapy I feel much better, no burning, but not 100%. My symptoms are more muscular tension. I just don't understand it. Why me. It's such a mental tole. Thanks for your videos

Okay I understand periods and sex and all these natural things can cause BV But why??? They are natural. Shouldn’t my body naturally be able to handle these things? Hormone changes make my vagina get an infection? Stress? Like wtf? My mom had to get an emergency C-section for my bro and I. Sometimes I wonder if my body is just weak because technically my lineage isn’t supposed to be here. Like is my body weaker than those who had no issues coming into earth?
Please don't ever think that (our thoughts have power and you are most DEFINITELY supposed to be on this planet). Some of us will face more and different challenges then others its true. Yes- of course our bodies naturally want to be in balance and return to homeostasis however if we are overworked-overtired- emotionally exhausted this can all alter the way our body systems function. Our lifestyles, hormones in birth control methods, chemicals in processed foods, caffeine, sugars, lack of sleep... can all alter the way our sex hormones function and fluctuate.

Never hd it before in my life. I keep getting put on antibiotics but it keep coming back after 3-4 months. And it's just soo frustrating.
I would ask your partner to participate in treatment as well. Sometimes it can be partner specific however other factors can include partners sleeping with new partners, circumcision vs not circumsized penis penetration, There can be bacterial transfer through oral sex, sex toy swapping, douching, use of antifungals (causing rebound infections of BV). For recurrent BV I would look at biofilm formation. You may need to do a combination of antibiotics vaginally plus boric acid suppositories for a longer course.
I’m being treated for BV with antibiotics for the 3rd time in less than two years. Scared to become resistant to antibiotics. Any further advice on this? Great video also thx
It is a real concern! I often hear from many women (including myself) that long term antibiotics and antifungals stop working (or the symptoms of infection come back over and over). Sometimes there are other issues that need to be addressed like vulvodynia, tissue integrity, hormones, and biofilms being left behind.
So, I've had BV symptoms on and off for almost 2 1/2 years. Ive had antibiotics, creams, everything. Nothing helps. Some days are worse than others. I literally didnt have sex for a year while trying diffrent meds. Nothing changed. I'm so sick and tired of living like this.

Hello I am just stumbling upon your video. I’ve had chronic BV for over 20 years now. Tried everything. Has ruined my sexual life and killed my confidence. I’ve been using metrogel as a “preventative” But now that seems to not help much. Any suggestions? I’m open to anything at this point. I’ve seen numerous doctors and no new ideas.
There is some literature that suggests you need something to help with biofilm- this could include using boric acid suppositories alongside the metrogel, and then continuing with a maintenance regime. You could also look into seeing a vulvovaginal specialist to rule out any hormone issues.
There could be a few things going on here. Hormone changes during menopause and during the menstrual cycle, health changes, major illnesses, antifungal use, allergies, compromised partner health, infidelity etc.
I definitely don't want to be negative here but personally, it was bc they had a new partner and they weren't using protection. He was in a very serious relationship with them in fact, it wasn't until they started sleeping together that my pH randomly (well to me bc I didn't know about her) got all thrown off!
Hi brianna Yes birth control pill can be linked to a decrease in BV (but an increase in yeast infections) You can look at some clinical data here: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3762860/

It increases the chance of getting stds? Like developing over time when having bv or just like sleeping with ppl having bv and getting stds? I never understood that ?
Hi there- indeed BV bacteria has been demonstrated to increase the risk of STI acquisition. BV also increases the risk of PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). This is due to the altered vaginal flora (not able to protect against STI as effectively, altered immune function) and this predisposes you to increased risk of infection.
So I’ve been having BV for over a year now comes back and a week or 2 dr. started me on a pelvic therapy for 4 months seem to help for a little bit recently had 2 bv infection while doing the therapy and boric acid feel like nothing is helping 😢
Hi there- I am so sorry to hear of your struggle. I am not sure what kind of 'pelvic therapy' you mean. Do you mean suppressive antibiotics for 4 months? were they oral or intra-vaginal? If you are experiencing symptoms of BV while taking both antibiotics in combination with boric acid suppositories I would request a culture, labwork and swabs to rule out a different kind of issue. Let me know!
Hi I had bv in my pregnancy due o which I went to preterm labor. My cervix was opened for 7 days and I was put into antibiotic. After that I had bv for three months and Iam continuously seeking treatment . Is there any chance of pelvic inflammatory disease?
Hi there- gosh I am so sorry you are going through this. Untreated BV does carry risk but this is something you can talk about with your OBGYN- if the BV has lasted 3 months there could definitely be an imbalance in the flora and you may need a combined treatment approach.
@@myvdiary yes they are treating me. During my labor is was put into antibiotics. Unfortunately my baby couldn’t survive. But from the last three months Iam having recurrent bv and they are continually treating me
Hi there- biofilm specifically for yeast infections and BV- there is good data for using Boric acid suppositories before/after standard antibiotic and antifungal treatment and for long term maintenance. It has been shown to disrupt cellular membranes responsible.
Boric Acid for 3 weeks can help cure BV? i love boric ! but i noticed i only used it for a week and then it will come back, does that mean i’m just not using it long enough?
If you struggle with recurrent BV there is literature to support using boric acid + metronidazole or antibiotics together. Sometimes you need a multi-targetted approach to get things calmed down and bring things back into balance. Usually for chronic and recurrent issues a long term approach is necessary, doing a full course up front and then a maintenance dose 1-2x a week for a few months also has good data. I would suggest talking with your GYN about how to combine for a longer course xo
