  • I once did a guest post for Prepography about prepper related things I learned while working in a prison. Today’s post on How to Stop Rugs from Slipping is another tip I learned from a felon.
    While digging through the Martha Stewart website doing research for an entrepreneur class I was taking I saw her give a tip to use beads of latex calk every 6 inches or so along the edges of a run to make it non-slip.

    That's genius , if it works , it's seems like it should , the mats don't really work . This makes good sense and if you already have mats may help make them effective . Gonna try , never seen this technique but it really seems brilliant and CHEAP which I love.

    We have a rug that moved all the time! Under a coffee table, dogs getting excited when we get home and it bunching it up. Husband was always stubbing toe on it. This has been a wonderfully fix.

    because of this video, I went and got silicone sealer, applied it, and waited 24 hours. I've had it in place for about two weeks and the silicone is beginning to come off of the bottom of the rug. So, it won't stay on for a long time.

      100% aquarium silicone might be a better option. Various chalking with silicon are not that adhesive. Aquarium silicone sticks

    Thank u so so much.. My toddler kept tripping and came millimeters from busting her head open on the glass coffee table.. Spent $200 on other solutions that never worked.. Tried this and it has been a month and still no bunching..
    I used acrylic caulk tho that my brother in law had on hand.

    I have a 5 X 7 shag rug that was bunching up so badly with a heavy coffee table on top that I was tripping over it daily. This worked BIG TIME for me!
    I did cross hatching like a parquet floor in 6 inch squares with Clear Acrylic Silicone in a caulking gun for maximum coverage. It took about four bottles (about 12 bucks) to cover, but it was worth it. Cheaper than a non-skid pad. GREAT TRICK!

    You can also use a hot glue gun as well and it dries faster as well, but the glue sticks can get costly if you need a bunch depending n the size of yer rug. The silicon tube definitely more cost effective for bigger projects. TY

    • @22kmclaren
      @22kmclaren 6 лет назад +1

      Hot glue isn't designed to be flexible after drying/cooling, it will likely crumble over time and make a mess. Definitely worth buying a cheap tube of silicone and not wasting glue sticks.

      bronco devil USE ACRYLIC CAULK NOT SILICON.
      AND DO THE ENTIRE RUG IN LINES ABOUT 2-3 inches APART. That’s what I did and it worked great
      Let it set for 24 hrs before turning the rug over
