Got a couple of easter eggs to point out: the scientific name displayed for the singularity is "Verum Carnis" which is Latin for "True meat;" another connection to it being the center of things. Also, the Vita Carnis documentary on the Mimic instructs you to not use any weapons you have, instead telling you to use them to block attacks (timestamp 6:31), while the Mimic Defense video tells you to aim for the head or legs (timestamp 3:20), and to "fight back". This, coupled with the suicidal content warning on the Mimic defense video points to the instructions being counter-productive.
the mimic defense video has a suicidical content warning on it because the guy in the second part says that the police reported the case as a suicide, despite obviously being more than that. that's right, they said the word twice during an intentionally hard to hear part of the video, and youtube automatically deems it suicidal content

This makes me want Matpat to go into Mystery Flesh Pit National Park, except that is all text based. So i don't know how he'd make it into a video. But it is one of the most interesting and creepy unfiction I've read in awhile.
The meat snakes remind me of the “Wife of the Thunderer” story. It’s a Native American story, and it’s about this girl who meets the Thunder Gods and they tell her about an evil serpent that eats the dead buried bodies of her people. It poisoned the rivers for more food, and comes out once a year I think to feast. It just reminded me of the Native American story, and it’s cool to think that the meat snake might’ve been inspired by it!
The idea that the singularity is the "prince" is terrifying bc it implies that there are more powerful forces than the singularity, potentially being much more malevolent
In the harvester documentary, the harvesters density/population start to move toward the island. I think this is the critters/humans giving food to to the prince/singularity, and in the next videos we will see other entities begin to move toward the island with the monoliths as well.

More videos have been posted in this series since this video's posting. However, I think I just cracked some of why things are happening. What's known so far (with season 1 of 3 out) is that there's a cult that seems to be asking some entity for help, as mentioned in the various still frames that tell a fairytale style story mixed in with some of the videos. The thought popped into my head: if the cult us asking for help, what are each of the variations of the Carnis supposed to do? By order of appearance for what I can remember: The Crawl: a meat plant that can both survive off dead flesh of wildlife and be photosynthetic; it also grows in abundance everywhere. Problem to solve: world hunger. Trimmings: little scavenger critters that eat mostly detritus and trash materials. Problem to solve: waste proliferation Meat Snakes: scavengers that "feed" off dead bodies. They directly incorporate the materials in its body, growing in proportion to availability. One had been discovered after a major war in a subway tunnel that was large enough to fit the tunnel and be closer to 100 meters in length. Problem to solve: war, more so as a deterrent. Now for the more terrifying of the Carnis Mimics: humanoid entities that feed exclusively off humans and are the perfect predator for humans. Problem to solve: overpopulation of humans Harvesters: stationary, bulbous entities that feed off larger creatures via entrapment strategies. Problem to solve: overpopulation of deer and non-carnis predators due to lack of human intervention. Secondary purpose is to guard the cult's main base, Facility 0 (located in the Hudson Bay in this fictional world), due to the unusually high concentration of them in the surrounding area. Hosts of Influence: stationary, humanoid entities that feed off humans. They produce orange, mind controlling spore clouds to attract prey. Problem to solve: control of the masses. The same orange spores may be found in the "flavor enhancer" product that everyone seems to be buying. Likely to quell revolution against the cult. Now, that's all I've managed to piece together with any level of certainty, as the remaining two entities are deliberately obscured regarding information. I can't say for certain, but I can speculate their usefulness based on what's known. The Monoliths: seven towering, humanoid entities that surround a location important to the cult worshiping the source of the Carnis. Their heads resemble the cult's logo. They can also emit offensive EMP blasts to disrupt advanced systems and are also highly regenerative. They have tendrils that go from their feet and into the ground for extraordinary distances. Likely problems to solve: protection of the cult's main base, Facility 0 and likely source of the Carnis; this otherworldly Prince entity. The Singularity: There are seven of these entities with the supposed main at Facility 0. They emit various frequencies that the other Carnis may be listening to. Trimmings, for example, are drawn to listening to the radio and TV. The cult is attempting to find all seven and bring them to Facility 0 for yet unknown reasons. Possible problems to solve: control of the Carnis, assuming they spawned from the Crawl like the rest. As it stands, this may not be the case.
One thing that has thrown me off a bit is the last 3 creatures. In every other creature it always brings up how they originate from the crawl. Like the trimming and mimics are broken off nodules. The harvester is an expanded node. The meat snake “separates” from the crawl. But the host, monoliths and singularity are never mentioned as to how they’re from the crawls and yet the tree implies that they are. And those 3 seem most interesting to the lore. The hosts’ spores are in the flavor enhancer, the monoliths are giants standing stationary in a circle and the singularity we know almost nothing about.

I wanted to take a moment to express my appreciation for the suggestion of the analog horror series. I must say, it's one of the best I've seen in a while and I believe it deserves more attention. Furthermore, I find the scientific accuracy of the series to be quite impressive. It provides a great foundation for theorizing and analyzing the content. Thank you again for bringing this series to my attention. I look forward to you discussing it further.
Im usually the kind of person who watches theories and analysis videos, and not the full thing- But trust me, it is so worth it! Everything is done so well, with a lot of scenes having real physical props. The videos are all short, sweet, and to the point. So, if you also have a bad attention span, they're pretty easy to watch
I had actually watched the series before watching a film theory on it for once, and even though I knew what to expect from it already I was dreading Matpat showing a clip from the harvester attack. Actual sigh of relief when he chose not to.
One minor issue I have is that... the "Children's Story As Metaphor for Vita Carnis" is... By this definition, wouldn't that make the Singularity a benevolent entity? Since the whole thing about the prince was them promising to aid the critters when they awaken.
I agree. I'm assuming he meant that this is what the cult thinks is going to happen. Like maybe they wrote the story because they believe this will save them. However, it's not implied anywhere that the cult came before the story or that they wrote it. It's not like the story doesn't actually exist in universe either and is just a metaphor for what's happening because we see real physical pages on the screen. It honestly makes more sense to think that this is the return of the prince and he's healing the creatures land with his magic somehow in a continuation of the story.
Maybe humans have taken the land from another species that helped the prince in the past or humans were the species(supported by the fact we had the story book maybe it happened so long ago no one knows it was real) but because we have destroyed the planet so much he is helping us by killing some of us.

so anyone else think that that one Meat Snake found in Germany after the war was the inspiration for the one SCP that's basically a snake that disguises itself as a subway train to consume as much prey as it can at a time? or was it the other way around?
Personally, I REALLY dig the speculative biology aspect - it’s refreshing to see monsters being treated as living things with a place in the ecosystem, rather than nebulous supernatural bogeymen they often are in many other analog horror series. Also, I have to point out that despite narration explicitly telling us that these are NOT aliens, the whole thing really feels like some very elaborate terraforming tool. With its sudden appearance out of nowhere, convenient way of spreading via the crawl and occasional new forms (such as monoliths) popping out from time to time, I’m getting the impression that its end goal is to gradually replace all life on the planet with more of itself, until the Earth is completely transformed into something else.

I was talking about this show in my english class, i talked about the meat snake and they said: "is it what we think?". I said: "no". I think that made it scarier.
I think that rather than the vitas carnis trying to learn from technology, I think they’re attracted to it as a direct result of the monoliths trying to gather them together. It would explain why the monoliths could creat EMPs AND why the trimmings are so attracted to radios, tvs, and satellite dishes. We’ve seen that the vitas carnis trying to make its way to the Hudson Bay and this would also explain why they’re attracted to the same location.

My parents were in the other room and I had to yell what was happening to them because my mom is not the best at hearing. It turns out, when I woke up that weird noise is just some birds.

Goodbye Matthew. It's fun hearing your voice
A series I'd be thrilled to see matpat dive into is Murder Drones. Chock full of his favorite things. Talking funny robots with souls of others inside them and LORE!!
Another detail that seems useful to notice is the fact that the name of the organisation behind the documentary (C.A.R.C.A.S) is very similar to the word carcass which means cadaver.
No it’s literally just carcas aka a dead body
I love it when matpat covers good analog horror, i just hope he one day finishes The Monument Mythos
By order of appearance for what I can remember:
The Crawl: a meat plant that can both survive off dead flesh of wildlife and be photosynthetic; it also grows in abundance everywhere. Problem to solve: world hunger.
Trimmings: little scavenger critters that eat mostly detritus and trash materials. Problem to solve: waste proliferation
Meat Snakes: scavengers that "feed" off dead bodies. They directly incorporate the materials in its body, growing in proportion to availability. One had been discovered after a major war in a subway tunnel that was large enough to fit the tunnel and be closer to 100 meters in length. Problem to solve: war, more so as a deterrent.
Now for the more terrifying of the Carnis
Mimics: humanoid entities that feed exclusively off humans and are the perfect predator for humans. Problem to solve: overpopulation of humans
Harvesters: stationary, bulbous entities that feed off larger creatures via entrapment strategies.
This reminds me a lot of “The Flesh that Hates” S.C.P.
Immediately upon seeing that thumbnail I got super excited thinking you were doing a 910 theory.
I’m surprised you haven’t done a lot of S.C.P. theories. The market is very saturated, but with your quality I feel like you’d stand out.

I LOVE the fact that you help other content creators to grow by making theories about their projects

The image of the little meat man inside the couch actually scared me for the first time in a long time
Im usually the kind of person who watches theories and analysis videos, and not the full thing-
But trust me, it is so worth it!
You are not getting those heartbeats back.
ikr watching that video was the worst mistake of my life.
It's insane how realistic and how horrifying it sounded.
The screaming of the kid and the wife is the only scream that we didn't need to hear
I'll never unhear what I heard...
All I can think of now is “ I want to have my very own trimming”
Maybe the singularity thinks it's helping but it's idea of help is destructive to us humans
@@hibye2420 FAir enough... and I guess there's also the question of the battle between individual vs collective health. A god who legitimately DOES help the environment but also needs human sacrifices to sustain itself

so anyone else think that that one Meat Snake found in Germany after the war was the inspiration for the one SCP that's basically a snake that disguises itself as a subway train to consume as much prey as it can at a time? or was it the other way around?
I'm pretty sure thats not an SCP but a Trever monster, but I could be wrong.
Just the Zerg spreading some delicious creep.
