Based Matpat calling out toxic fans, I actually found this series before this video and was really sad to see the hate towards it. It's pretty sick.

im commenting this as someone who has a friend whos a big Kaiju/Godzilla fan. This was mentioned in conversation casually once and he stated how much he hated this story and its premise. And the whole bit about angry fans in the beginning made me wanna ask him why he hated it
He says the story overall and its message are alright, nothing compares to Godzilla SNES creepypasta but thats not the main gripe
the main gripe is about the main vicitim, the man in the suit. This story was made just months after the original costume actor Haru Nakajima died. Nakajima loved his role, worked hard, enduring horrific conditions to play in that bulky suit but loved it because of what the movies meant and still mean to the world as a whole. He was a man that supported internationality, and some of his motivations to be in this film was to be apart of a story that would be spread all over the world and not just Japan
and to have the guy taking his place in this documentary being a etho-nationalist, justified or not, quite literally becoming a monster taking petty revenge on people who did nothing wrong instead of actually combating the issue in a constructive way like how the real life actor did, ON TOP of the the fact this was again made recently after his death...is a slap in the face to those diehard fans.
and honestly, as someone whos had only a passing interest in this to begin with, made me not like the Story at the end of the day. Now he holds no ill will towards the story maker, just how they have made the story and i gotta agree with him. Not everyone on the internet hates mindlessly, sometimes hate has a reason

Nakajima Haruo died in 2017, that is ca. 6 years before the first episode of the series was made, I wouldn't really consider it *that* recent. It's very clear that we are dealing with an AU (e.g. Hirose Shōichi, King Kong's actor, obviously didn't die on the set and had actually continued to work for Toho basically until his death in the 90s). Also, as stated: there is a difference between constructive criticism (such as changing the message that the actor had for the world) and blatant hate, harassment and death threats.
Seeing MatPat finally talk straight to toxic fans because he just doesn’t give a sh*t anymore is refreshing. But be careful, you might hurt their widdle feewings :’(

That message from MatPat to toxic fans was personal. You can tell that came from his heart especially since he can relate to Unknowingly as a content creator himself.

His effects reach even those who never watch his vids, game devs putting more focus on deep lore, affecting how gamers in general experience games. The amount of channels he has helped build. His effects are spread out far past his channels. There will be a lot of shifts in the next few years.
He touched so many people's heart for so long and its really sad to see him go..... I remember when I was litte(8 years old) I would watch him and would get so scared, but I would love it everytime.
He was a big part of me and my siblings childhood,and while none of the channels will be the same without him,he nor the channels are gone,it's somewhat bitter sweet to see the torch being passed down to new people,but as time goes on,we'll learn to love all the memories MatPat gave us... but that's just a theory,we'll miss you, MatPat

Indeed. However there are some instances of this in Hollywood that does deserve criticism to some extent, but obviously not to extreme extents of death threats or doxting people. (This is especially true when the actor or original creator agrees with the fans...*cough* Luke Skywalker *cough*)

Same effect King Kong must've had on audiences in 1933. Classic monster movies deserve so much more respect than they're given nowadays.

It hits so much harder knowing the time we have together is so short now. Never did I see the end in sight, but the transient impermanence of all things shows it's true magnificence. We will miss you Matpat

In the original movie the officials of Japan never actually admitted to the population that the US was to blame for Godzilla instead deciding to not acknowledge it in favour of keeping the peace and moving forward. Also serizawa creates the oxygen destroyer and he is horrified by his own creation deciding to detonate it in the ocean, destroying all his notes prior. And killing Godzilla. The movie was also inspired by the events of the Marshal island nuclear testings between 1946 and 1958 I believe. Which killed a few Japanese fishermen and exposed locals to a lot of radiation. So VERY FRESH in the Japanese people’s minds. Some even accused the director of being insensitive. The director was also a Buddhist and his father and grandfather were both monks. He was made to guard the comfort women camps during ww11 so he wasn’t above criticising Japan and Japanese patriotism
