Court of owls should be the last movie in a trilogy. Definitely not the first installment. You need to know Batman’s knowledge and “control” (for the lack of a better word) of Gotham for the realization of his actual lack of knowledge and control to be frightening at least as frightening as it was in Scott’s run.
Scott is wonderful. A buddy of mine wrote for CBR and introduced me to him at C2E2 back in ‘11, so in a heyday, and he was down to earth, easy to hang out with and just geek out. I’m rereading all the volumes from Court on, and it’s like watching history unfold, something that future fans will look back on wishing they could’ve read it as the issues came out, like I used to pine for the early Claremont run on X-Men.
@@ig2hi1 I didn't read Odyssey (previews put me off) but if Neal Adams says you've written a great Batman story then you've written a great Batman story so congrats, Scott Snyder
I remember picking up issue 5 when it came out. A game changer for sure. Batman comics had flirted with those themes before but that was the moment (at least for myself) that it be came full on psychological horror. It's cool in the trade but having to spin the single issue was a big F yeah moment. Respect!
Ricky G : It was confusing to be sure, but DAM...issue 3 was frikin worth it!! Now THAT'S what comics are all about! too bad the story itself wasn't as comprehensive as that easy-to-understand and brilliant action! And the final issue was the pay load! That fight between Batman and the SENSAI was ridiculously awesome, I mean the SPINE CRUSHER intercepted by the simplicity of squeezing his shoulder blades?? wtf! Too brilliant, these were the deadliest beings on Earth that could take on Hulk and super humans. It just sucked that it wasn't the straight up costume, the 50 yr icon outfit yellow moon and all. Plus the "sloppy" inks didn't match his pencils. And then of course FMiller not being available for the scripting of Oddesey when Neal offered it. Yeah, so as a result a lacking of comprehensive story, really did not kno what was happening. So you're right. But again...LAST issue and issue 3 was the bomb!! Guy's really the master, what can ya say
I haven’t read court of owls in a while. Going to have a blast doing it. So many great Batman stories I can’t wait to hit the big screen. I think Hush is the one that should be made into a movie next.
They need an overpowerd martial artist leader, who trained ALL the Talons over the last several hundred Years. Someone, who also is a Master manipulator, genius, and know how to use it in fight, but also of course in Politics! Like Ras Al Ghul, but stronger, and much deadlier than deathstroke.
You ask Denny O’Neil how to pronounce Ra’s, he pronounces it like they do in Batman: The Animated Series. Mostly because of it’s Arabic roots. You ask Neil Adams he gives you Batman Begins pronunciation. An American butcher of the word. I tend to go with Denny’s pronunciation. Writer vs Artist.

What a shame that, after Court of Owls, Snyder's run a complete garbage. I had so high hopes after Black Mirror, which is one of my favorite Batman stories of the last 15 years, but death in the family, Zero Year, etc, was getting worst and worst and worst. He did an amazing Dick Grayson as Batman, but he used the same inmature archetype for Bruce Wayne, and it didn't felt right. Also, what he did for Gordon and the Joker was atrocious. Joker was a complete joke, and the whole "love" approach to Batman was just stupid. Horrendous run. Greg Capullo's art was amazing though
The new joker movie is about prostitution of a character for money...it's not about art for art sake... More a millennial interpretation done at their level of understanding...
Your millennial rant is ridiculous. The new Joker film is NOT a prostitution of the character. So far, it’s shaping up to be a work of art, not money. The only thing I would critique is a “perversion” Of Joker. So far, it looks nothing like the Joker we have come to cherish in comics. This may be, rather, something like Watchmen or V for Vendetta, an insight on psychology or a setting like it rather than a blockbuster superhero film. And that is respectable. Although I dispute the title of Joker referring to the Batman villain, it is absolutely not a cash grab.
Easily one of my favorite Batman arcs of all time, wish he would do a proper sequel.
A tip: watch series on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching loads of movies these days.
@Anderson Lochlan Yup, been using Flixzone} for since november myself :D
Does city of owls count

Danielle Zanfardino I agree, but it’s also kinda ironic that court of owls was the intro arc to the continuity reboot
Superhero Edits I think it should be an underlying side villain until the end
Should be a two parter
I respect Snyder for one reason; he created a new compelling character/characters that made it feel fresh.

Agreed. The next Batman movie should be the Court of Owls.
The Eric him. MHghhuuklli
Lol Neal Adams still pimping Batman: Odyssey
It's easily the worst Batman comic I've read.
Lol, that comic convinced me that Denny O' Neil was the true brains behind Neal Adams' success in the 70s.
Adams' Green Lantern / Green Arrow is definitely his career high.
Neal Adams is one of the Elder Gods in the industry. Respect him.

I’m not a Batman fan per say, but Court of Owl is a big story. It’s the greatest Batman story line ever.

Scott snyder best batman writer of all time
Grant Morrison is better.
Awesome interview!
4:00 for someone to make a movie about Odyssey they'd have to be the only human on earth that knows what it's about. 😂

court of owls vs 3 jokers
Neal Adams: Batman Odyssey
Nobody liked that
I'm not excited about the new joker. I ask my girl and she cringed at the trailer.
Ernesto Rodriguez oh boo! it looks amazing

I agree totally....not artistic ,creative, not mark hamill...
It looks like a great character study. Reminds me of Clockwork Orange.
Armando Castillo agreed can’t wait
How tf no one in this comment section talking about gentrification?
Ugh Gotham tried to do it?! Yuck! And the animated movie didn’t touch what the book did....
I can't imagine how Gotham has lasted so long.
Michael MacLeod right?! I’m like barf is there something better?

The only good thing in his whole run.
jota disagree
I HATED THAT PART OF THE STORY ... making your comic unreadable is not a good storytelling technique.
Brian Ervin great comic!
What part of the story?
I disagree, I LOVED it.
Unreadable? You literally just need to turn the comic around you absolute melt
@@tolgarrrr1601 I read it on my laptop, you absolute melt.
