The summer of 2019 sparked a wild idea at Symphonic Theory: What if we created an orchestral tribute for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? With little time and a lot of determination, we set out on this ambitious journey. Inspired by John Williams's iconic scores and Jay Bocook's flawless transcription, we crafted an homage to the Skywalker saga. Our arrangement wove together beloved themes from The Force Awakens with subtle nods to the larger story.
Over 40 intense recording sessions, 26 amazing musicians, and 160+ tracks, the project grew into something extraordinary. By the fall, we had an awe-inspiring performance brought to life by a talented, young orchestra. But just as we neared the finish line, reality hit like a crashing X-wing: the video hadn't even been started. Soon, we had to face the inevitable truth: it wasn't going to happen in time (NOOOO, THAT'S NOT TRUE! THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!)
Fast forward through setbacks, the pandemic, breakthroughs, and years of endurance, the idea that began as a dream now stands as a testament to our perseverance. The project had grown into our own mental Everest-impossible to tackle, but with a clear path: face it head-on, step by step. Just like in Rogue One: "If we can make it to the ground, we'll take the next chance. And the next. On and on until we win… or the chances are spent."
We dove headfirst into the work. Lightsabers and holograms were perfected, the mix and master were rebuilt from scratch, and an intricate layer of Dolby Atmos sound effects elevated the experience to a galaxy far, far away.
But most importantly, we found the courage to follow our hearts, chase the dream, and keep fighting-even when the odds seemed impossible. Over the past five years, we've poured ourselves into this journey-creating, refining, and producing music we can't wait to share with you and the world.
This is more than just a project; it's the culmination of years of relentless hard work, unwavering passion, steadfast dedication, and a dream that refused to be forgotten.
This is The Rise of Symphonic Theory.
