The backpack that you feature is the Kelty model BB5. It is attached to their Mountaineer frame. I bought mine in February 1972 and paid about $75 for it. It was truly "state of the art" at that time. It is still in great condition and served me well for over 30 years until I purchased an internal frame pack. Prior to my Kelty, I used a canvas pack on a tubular frame. ( Boy Scout gear) Rainmaker
Nice, Kelty's were popular, I had the first year Tioga 72. or so I recognize your BB5, one of the rare huge single main compartment monsters.I once dropped mine off a small cliff hiking down into Yosemite valley on the Tenaya zig zags with 60+ lbs, didn't faze the pack. Great times.
I’m following and commenting from this account too....I’m more interested in hiking now that we live so near Yosemite...but I’m not great with backpacks (or actually camping using one)....started a little too late (with a bad back). This is so fun! Love your take on all of this.
👍 Nice video. I have 2 Kelty packs manufactured in the 1960s, I love them.
