Currently 4th place, and less than 40 seconds from the world record held by SVA. Most of this run was phenomenal. The Plateau completion is my fastest ever (22:55), I got to Castle in under 27 minutes, and I even golded Castle by a tenth of a second. It really wasn't until the endgame fights that the screw-ups started happening.
Run breakdown:
• GREAT PLATEAU TOWER - Good. Less than a second of possible time save.
• MAGNESIS TRIAL - Okay. Second surf and water movement could be improved. Slow metal door opening.
• CRYONIS TRIAL - Decent. Mainly just little things. Trip up to the shrine could have been at least three seconds faster. Had to wait for the gate to lift. Slow edge climb after the Cryonis Block Jump.
• STASIS TRIAL - Average. I'm honestly not sure how I lost two seconds here. The only mistake I've noticed is the hammer grab in the shrine.
• BOMB TRIAL - Decent. Had to let go of the boulder early to avoid a potentially damaging tree collision. Sloppy equip attempts after the tree travel. Traversal of the shrine's moving platform can be performed sooner.
• PARAGLIDER - Good. Tree travel angle is improvable.
• HYRULE FIELD - Slightly less distance than I'd like with the boulder launch. Slow armor chest opening. Aside from that, this split went wonderfully. I can still save time by risking RNG and not picking up the armor though.
• HYRULE CASTLE - Gold. Aside from the slow arrow pickups, I can't really ask for more out of this segment.
• CALAMITY GANON - Easily the biggest source of time loss in this run. Some poor RNG and lacking spin attacks cost me about 10 seconds in Thunderblight. Calamity Ganon Phase 1 was slower than average. Calamity Ganon Phase 2, however, was the real big loss; I broke my fresh Claymore when attacking, which nullified the stunlock. If the stunlock went successfully, this easily could have been 2nd place with a 41:20 or under.
• END - Same as it ever was.
Some notes about the run to clear up any potential questions:
- I run this game on the physical Switch version, which is ironically slower than digital Wii U version by somewhere around 25-30 seconds due to loads. This is currently the 2nd fastest time on Switch, the fastest being 41:24 by ZDI.
- This game is run on German system language. German is the fastest language to run the game in, primarily due to faster voice clips in the beginning. All dual-audio options in game are slower than having all systems in German, sadly.
- Before the run, I quit to the main menu from the Shrine of Resurrection. Doing this saves three seconds when loading a New Game, since the Shrine is pre-loaded.
- While no Amiibo are used, this run does include the Phantom Armor from DLC Pack 1. On an optimal run, this would be skipped since it wastes about 20 seconds to get, but its attack stat boost eliminates some very brutal cooking RNG (15-20% for triple attack boost) later in the run.
