i am portuguese and i just born on 1989. i love the group B cars and rally. I never saw group B rally, but i am amazed! The drivers skills, the engeniering and the crowd it´s so awsome. since i was a child i am addicted to rallys! the video is awsome i'm allmost crying :S!
For 3min and 31sec, I sat there with my mouth open. Group B is so impressive to watch on a computer screen, I cant even begin to imagine what it was like to be there in the 80's to see and hear them for real... Thanks for posting, this is epic.

I went to my first rally on Saturday. Eppynt (Wales-GB) stage of the WRC.. I was impressed at the speed and was amazed at how they could keep the things on the track... But then on the way home I realised that Back when Group B were THE rally car drivers didn't have anywhere near the sort of technology to give them a hand... And they had more power... and fans to contend with.. Just a shame I was born as it was taken away... =(

I can remember these animals!!! ROAD ROCkETS!!!!!!! Only downside, they didn't take off!!! Lol! But on a serious note,, how many BRILLIANT drivers lost their lives??? God rest their souls!!!!!!!!! Very sad!!!!!! They will always be remembered among the rally greats!!!!!
Good video and nice car...!Lancia was the best team of rallying!The S4 eroged 660cv and was the most dangerous car of the Group B....but also dangerous were Peugeot 205T16 and Audi Quattro Sport(S1 and E2). I don't live Era of the Group B,but I know the Era was very spectacural!
@Deltarally92 It had 600 hp in its late engine evolution. They had less power before that. Group B started with 300 hp and ended with 600-650 hp. There was an Audi prototype for 1987 with 1000 hp.

During the Portuguese rally, Henri Toivonen is often reported to have tested his Delta S4 (Tour de Corse version with almost 612bhp) at the Estoril circuit and to have set a fastest lap time that would have qualified him in sixth position at the 1986 Portuguese Grand Prix... Lol!
One more thing to get a picture how good the B group drivers were. Check the Pikes Peak race. Walter Rőhrl with 600HP = 10.46 and 100% tarmac Monster Taijm and 1100HP = 10.03 and more than 80% asphalt need I say more???
Group B rally is the best ever but some people think the crowds were wonderful... I think a lot of the time the crowds were rediculous. Forming human walls on the track and running out onto the path is interfering with the drivers and put not only themselves but the event at risk. And did.
