It’s a trim level issue. Higher trims have the screen up top. Lower trims have it under the vents. I’ve driven 2 sierras recently. A Denali and an elevation.
@@mminniear984 Not completely true. The truck above is the Denali Ultimate trim. It's poor design for sure. I think GM didn't plan on having a column shifter and added it after the console was designed.
@@Weekendgarager agreed. Both I drove were GMC. Not Chevy and the screen was in a different spot. But also both were console shifters. I like the column shifters. I wish they made one with center console. More storage space for all my BS 😅
The shifter covering up the navigation is the only thing I hate about my 2024 2500 HD. That seems awful Ford-like to me. I had a plain-jane ford f-150 with manual windows, the rounded off looking f150's. I'm taller than average, so this wasn't a seat position issue. The window crank was right up against the seat. You couldn't open or close the window without opening the door. Ridiculous.
I worried that would be the case but I don't notice it's smaller. I literally don't think about it and I drive the truck every day. No regrets buying it.
Better, but not perfect. For that kind of money they should make one with some bent to seat lower in drive. I guess when I will want to see full screen I will shift to L mode. This truck is full of design flaws
Awesome install video! The BL Customs short shifter is a huge improvement!
Just got mine. 100% fixes the view problem. Thanks for the tutorial
You're welcome. Glad someone came up with the solution for us and made it well.
Looks a whole lot better now
the screen is higher on the silverado Mine only covers the volume/home button. Guess it's still better than the knob Ram has! Thanks for the video.
Yes, I think the vents are different on the Sierra. Maybe someone will make an infotainment relocate for the Sierra eventually.

@@mminniear984 Oh yeah those must have been half ton trucks. They moved the shifter to the column on the 2500 and higher after customer feedback.
That’s perfect 👍🏻 thanks for the video
You’re welcome!
Reminds me of my old taco 😂 gotta lean to the passenger side just to see what time it is
I’m wondering if the existing could be heated up with a small torch and bent so the shifter was up at 2 o’clock when in drive?
I considered it but where you'd want to bend it there's plastic that would crack/break/deform. I believe someone on AT4 forums is going to try that.

Get this shifter! I have no regrets at all.
What year truck? my Refreshed 2022 AT$ 1500 has a console shifter... is this the 2500?
2024 and yes, 2500.
The Silverado it covers the volume knob
Get this short shifter!
I have a Silverado and whenever i shift that plastic trim on top pops out. Any idea how to solve that?
Interesting, is the 7mm screw on the underside missing? It's just that and the plastic tabs that can be seen at 2:26 - 2:28 holding it down.
@@Weekendgarager yeah the bolt is the and its screwed, if i tightened that screw will the top plastic trim be tight ? Or it won’t defer.
@@Trixano I wouldn't torque it much because they will strip easily. Are your plastic tabs broken?
@@Weekendgarager i’m not entirely sure, but im guessing so.
Because it keeps popping out whenever i ever i shift
@@Trixano I’d check those out before the lower gets broken from all the extra movement.
Sure GM can fix it give us the option for a manual transmission.
doubt we'll ever get that option again
How does the new handle feel when shifting, does it feel too small?
I worried that would be the case but I don't notice it's smaller. I literally don't think about it and I drive the truck every day. No regrets buying it.
Nice, thank you for the response. I’m going to give it a shot
Solution, get rid of the touchscreens.
TBH this whole infotainment is the most annoying thing I ever had in any of my trucks. Pure junk

GM definitely should have placed the screen higher but what else don't you like about the truck? I don't really have any other complaints.
Curious what other design flaws you see bc I only see that one
The dial found in the ram is much better
Just like the clothes dryer dial!
The only acceptable gear shifter for a pickup is a column shifter.
You shouldn't be looking at the infotainment while driving anyway
Well I do.
