    The didn't focus enough on Colin and Pen in the second part of season 3. Yes, when people do adaptations from books, there will be changes. But this is ridiculous. By Season 4 roles around, the only resemblance to the books will only be the names of the characters.

      It's true. Minor changes from book to screen adaptations are expected, but for this season (especially in part 2) they missed the mark with Colin and Pen's sweet, relatable romance.😞

    Penelope and Colin didn’t get the season they deserved

    We expect changes because an adaptation isn't able to include everything, but if you change a character's personality or exclude scenes that provide insight into the characters and their history that is vital to the story, it feels empty and/or lazy. My favorite scene was the street fight but because it was literally the material from the carriage scene in the book, it had the frustration and passion the carriage and mirror scenes lacked, but a lot of people were happy with their romance scenes, imo we needed more scenes with Colin and Penelope talking & at least one flashback to tie into the previous seasons.

      I agree with everything you just said! The street scene was one of my favorites as well. Definitely think flashbacks would have helped.

      That was a good secene, and it was so dissapointing when he put her in the carriage by herself! They should've gone off away together. LIttle opportunities like that were missed. And oh yes, a flashback would've been perfect! 💞

    This is my favorite season, but it needed much more time with Colin and Penelope. When I rewatch it, I fast forward through everything but their scenes. I didn't care about any of the side stories. I started the series with Queen Charlotte, watched this season and went back to watch 1 and 2 to get more of Polin's backstory. I didn't get from this season why people loved Benedict, his story was so poorly done for me. When he's with the family, I adore him, but other than that, it's just meaningless sexual encounters every season. I don't really know that I want to keep watching.

    • @Swoon-WorthyPodcast
      @Swoon-WorthyPodcast  21 день назад

      Way too many side stories this season! There were certainly side stories in the previous seasons, but they didn't take over the plot and distract from the main romance. Yes, Benedict's interactions with his family are the best. Always hanging out with the youngest two Bridgertons. Such a great sibling! 🌟

    When Pen says I just want you to love me and stand by my side… she asked “what holds you back” and he said “I don’t know” - Colin would definitely know! The writing was so bad for Colin. He is more complex than they wrote him. I’m fine his main struggle is his purpose (and him thinking it’s hero/protection) I’m ok with the jealousy but that’s not the dominant Colin feeling… I think grief insecurity and fear because he thought he had it all with Pen and was going through some ptsd about the failed “love” with Miss Thompson. Even if he would have said “I feel like I lost you. I love you but I hate WD”. They did a good job at the wedding and I don’t mind the end but in terms of space for sexy scenes - during the 2 remaining weeks of banns of marriage - they would have been all over each other. It could have been another two minutes of footage.

    • @layans.3330
      @layans.3330 21 день назад +4

      I agree Colin is a very complex and deep character and in terms of writing they where doing okay for the first half, the second half, however, was definitely a wasted potential.
      He needed to have a plot of his own, I think they could have simply made his writing a major part of his character arch.
      Another thing that would have added a dimension to his character is his relationship with his mother. They made a point several times to till us how sensitive he is, would have been great if they showed this being reflected in their relationship and how he was caring and attentive to her definitely than the other siblings. They could have had Violet open up to him about her past love life for example, and have him notice her interactions with Marcus and have him encourage her. (These are just examples) This would actually make us “the viewers” believe he would be as sweet, attentive and kind to pen.

      @@layans.3330I really like these suggestions. I saw another video / Reddit that went through Colin’s trauma from his dad’s death and it was very good at showing evidence of Colin’s age and role in being the hero, fear of death “I do not wish to die having never been kissed” and this analysis made me appreciate Colin so much. It made it all the more telling that there was so much that was missed for him in part 2. Your comment about his mom made me think of that.

      @@layans.3330 Agreed that the first half of the season was well-written for Colin's character. In the carriage season at the end of Ep. 4 I thought his confession of his feelings to Penelope (and to himself, really) was perfect. Then, it was a whole different story for part 2! The dialogue for Colin (and sometimes Penelope) wasn't as compelling.
      Would've LOVED to see more about his writing. We get more of that in the book, so I was shocked they left it out. Missed opportunity, for sure.
      Violet and Colin have such a sweet relationsihp, so agree with you on all points here, too!

Idk he was mad her for 2 weeks so Eloise was mad at her for a year.😭 I have a lot more thoughts but this is just the general thoughts lol

    I absolutely loved Penelope and Colin. What a pleasure it was to witness her transformation and the costumes. To date, she has the best wedding gown. They played their roles to perfection. You could feel Colin’s hurt and love basically clashing constantly once Whistledown is revealed.
    I also loved their wedding dance - in daylight! I was worried they would not be able to carry the season but they did but I wish we had seen more of their intimacy. Kudos.

    I was very disappointed by this season overall. It seems as though they did a complete reset of Benedict, Colin, Eloise and Francesca because all four were very different than they were in seasons 1 and 2. The writing was so bad and all over the place as they did not seem to any great character development. They definitely oversold the romance and the steaminess as it was less than it was in season 1. I did not like the Michaela switch especially having them do so at the end of episode 8. I really did enjoy the romance between Francesca and John but they basically ruined it. Also Masali Baduza was not cast to play Sophie, she is playing Michaela.

    I absolutely loved it. I have watched it three times and will go back for more. There were differences from the book but the two characters are shown as they are. Penelope already madly in love with Colin & Colin finding his passion as time goes on. Penelope holding on to Whistledown
    as part of her identity just absolutely sealed her great intelligence & need to be more than who she is allowed to be. The only thing l didnt like was John Stirling's cousin being a woman. Her sudden appearance & her lines were too forced amongst a cast who interact so seemlessly with each other.
    Not sure what l will make of season four given Benedict's role to date but I am in love with Colin and Penelope both in written word & on screen. ❤

      I read somewhere that there weren't as many *aesthetic* shots in S3 Part 2, and then I looked back and that was so right. Less shots of the flowers, the ball decorations, the pretty costuming of the extras. The overall feeling of Part 2 was different from Part 1 and the previous seasons.
