Thank you, very useful.
Thank you so much for the analysis.
Don't stop this video after the Air! The Gavottes are underrated!
Beautiful music!
oh yeah!! This is in Suzuki book 3, it sounds even better here!
Don’t worry, people who listen to Bach’s work never skip it !
Very much so indeed,my personal favourite movements by Bach, and this is such a wonderful version.
Utterly perfect performance! Purity. Sanity. Majesty. Clarity. Sanctity. Honesty. Everything as it should be in terms of tempi and dynamics. A truly joyful rendering. I'm in tears of joy listening. Thank you.
A testament to the high degree of perfection attainable by mortal clay.
Wonderfully glorious....Bach has always been a childhood favorite of mine.

It's like listening to the sky, it's like coming home and having coffee with your loved ones.
It is one of the best performances of the Orchestral Suite No. 3 of J.S. Bach I have ever heard because I can “feel” the music of Ton Koopman has a “soul”. The work is not played in a hurry and rushed but with calmness and poise that does good to the spirit of the work in how it is supposedly to be played.
i listen to this multiple times a day and it does not get old. Ever.
Brandon Potocsky Oh but it is. Several hundred years in fact.
The instrumentation and structural functions
Woodwinds:
Two baroque oboes in C (top melodic line)
Bassoon (doubling, with the cello, the bottom melodic line)
Brasses:
Three natural trumpets tuned in D (top melodic line; rhythmic and harmonic reinforcement with or without the pair of kettle drums)
Percussion:
A pair of kettle drums tuned, the smallest in D, the biggest in A (rhythmic reinforcement and accentuation of the tonic and dominant degrees)
Strings:
First baroque violins (top melodic line)
Second baroque violins (remplissage)
Baroque violas (remplissage)
Baroque violoncellos (bottom melofic line)
Baroque double bass (doubling, one octave lower, the bass-part played by the cello + the bassoon)
excellent performance ..... wonderful orchestra with the presence of excellent musicians like Ton Koopman and Andrew Manze and others
I agree this is music from heaven!!!
Wrong, it was written by J.S. Bach.
There is no heaven, nor any God. Wake up.
FDS when you listen to Bach you must, at the very least, suspect there is something out there.
FDS You have enjoyed your time too much, let it be revealed!!!
this is the music of heaven
E' cos!!! Ciaoì

This is among the greatest expositions of Bach I've ever seen. Thank you.
I knew the slow 2nd movement (famous air on G string), but the first one is a discovery. How rousing! It is astonishing to see how Bach can keep it going (and interesting) well beyond what you'd think would be possible (for example, after what sounds at first like closing measures around 4:10). Fantastic performance also. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful music ! Schones Muzik ! Belle musique ! Mooie muziek !
Het moet zijn : Schone Musik ! ( met een Umlaut op de " o " )
OMG the second movement!
+filthyphillyboy Often referred to as, "Air on the G-String". Beautiful.
"Air on the G-string" sounds nasty nowadays, that title has some BIG innuendo
Beautiful Orchestra ! BRAVO !
Sigmund Freud is surprisingly good at conducting my work!!
Johann Sebastian Bach Thank you for this great work. 🙏

my favorite Bach piece, this video does not disappoint.
It’s centuries old...but sounds as if it were composed only yesterday!
One of the all time greats.
Excellent piece, and very nicely played, thanks for uploading.
Wonderful performance. Thank you.
The second movement is heavenly.
I couldn't agree more.
Excellent morceau...merci !
Masterpiece :) Perfect interpretation
A wonderful performance ! Listen to the entire suite; fabulous music follows the famous “Air.”
Very nice played. Wish I had it on CD. Thank you.
Majestic and sublime at the same time.
Jose Fernandez indeed!
Thanks for not stretching out the Overture or exceeding the speed limit on the Air!
superbe l'ouverture
Koopman is godsend.
A very useful video for my music exam
Perfect tempo.
Such a Masterpiece
I think ouverture, air, gavotte, bourree are all prefect
un Bach royal et solaire,admiration
Thank you!

is very good and beautiful
respect absolu !!!!
I thought Air in G was the most magnificent Bach work ever. Then I discovered the overture to Suite #3. Wow!
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Orch Suite 4 is even better, IMO. But if you want magnificent, try his B Minor Mass, and specifically the Netherlands Bach Society performance of it.
EXCELENTE GRABACIÓN
Love it

WOW!!! I love this. This is my favorite Bach piece right now, I have an old record of it that sounds great 'cept Air has a couple skips :(
But how come the bassoon never got his shot?
my favourate part except Air, is from 4:13 to the end of ouverture
Air...💕

Air!!!!
Can you imagine how hard it would be to have to be the bass player? Auditions would have to a worst nightmare
Dylan Christensen why?

+Narcissus Rk Muchas gracias. Feliz día !!

Buenìsimo.

What do you man? 🤔
Try to play this at 1,25x speed!! Thank me later. 😉
Why do I thank you
Ahh I see why I thank you
The tempo is much better
It felt like they didn't hold the notes in Air it was like they brushed over it too causally. It was just how it felt, I really know nothing about music beyond what I feel when I hear it.
I wonder what it would sound like if the part of the harpsichord were played by the more modern piano, would it add to the complexity by being able to really hear it well?
No, the piano won't be appropriate here - it will be needlessly obtrusive.
Great violin work on the Air by Billy Ray Cyrus and Grace Slick.
Yeeah boy, I came for 12:38.

What's the "spidery sounding" instrument that's in the background? Is it the piano?
Ralph Serr harpsichord
***** yes. These are period instruments. (Not sure about the strings) Those are oboes and trumpets.
Ok
Thanks
yes those are also baroque instruments for the strings as well, you can tell by the bow, also the lack of chin/shoulder rest etc on all of them.
Very fine! As imposing as Klemperer's old fashioned approach, but with a lot more dynamism and attack than Hogwood's sterile "authentic" version.
