- Elvis Costello is considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time, but he doesn't find pop music all that exciting, especially Pink Floyd.

The premier pop songwriter of both the 20th and 21st Centuries...Elvis Costello.
Still waiting for Elvis Costello and THE ATTRACTIONS.
Much Love.....
Too late now Elvis, you are a celebrity. 😃For about 45 years now. I like Pink Floyd, maybe particularly of 67 thru 77 very much. Would not have guessed in 1971 they were headed for massive and lasting popularity. Or Black Sabbath either.
DPAMcM articulate as ever
Elvis, I can relate as "Pump It Up" is about the only thing you ever did that was somewhat exciting to me.
That got a lot of radio airplay. One of my favs, too...that bassline. His early LP's are all great.
That’s what your wife said to me about you, while we were in bed
He's not keen on Ray Charles either, apparently.
says who? because of that incident that happened in 78 or 79? he says he only said those things because he knew it would get a rise out of bonnie bramlett
Costello actually loves Ray Charles music, he was just being a troll decades ago
It's alright I don't find him or his music exciting either.
If you don't find TYM exiting as hell. Call the Morgue you are DOA.
Read over all the acts the man has worked with - nobody else has the same versatility. He always brings something to spark any encounter. From Kronos Quartet to Burt Bacharach... The thing is he writes, he makes musical language - Floyd is on pretty simple turf musically. If you are not a musician you may scratch your groin at that... But it is true.
Well actually I'm a working musician and Pink Floyd is definitely not on "simple turf" musically. I think that's ridiculous to say and totally removes them from their historical context. None of them are necessarily virtuosos (Gilmour being a possible exception) but their compositions, arrangements, studio innovations, live concerts and concepts were certainly complex and often revolutionary. Your position on this is near indefensible.
@@ababab28 And it's the Brodsky Quartet !!
obnoxious solipsism.
and while i love, love, love costello, he couldn't do what floyd did.
I am sure the feeling is mutual, Pink Floyd does not find Costello exciting at all.
The narcissism of small differences. His politics are nearly identical with Roger Waters, and they're both obsessed with John Lennon.
True, everyone has their tastes. I never got Pink Floyd, they bore me to tears. So do Ac/Dc, Steely Dan, Dave Matthews and a lot of others.
Nice bloke.
I know people have been saying it for years, but I don't like them either. Bunch of middle class business men with guitars, and very po-faced about it too. So there!
😂🤣
And I'm sure they find you just as exciting, what a real waste of time that was. Still it was a good year for the posers.
So sad you don't like Pink Floyd, they speak very highly of you.
Lost respect mate. FU
Punk and prog rock don't have a high regard for each other, Sex Pistols didn’t like PF, or Yes.
He doesn't care for Led Zeppelin either, so what?
