  • Welcome to our first-time reaction to the Five Nights At Freddy's (2023) Movie. The Fnaf movie, produced by Blumhouse Productions, is finally here! Just in time for the spooky season!
This is based on the fantastic game created by Scott Cawthon, Five Nights at Freddy's or Fnaf for short.
Josh Hutcherson plays the iconic security guard who we know from the games, Mike Schmidt.
After he loses his job as a mall security guard, he is now given the hard choice between keeping custody of his sister or taking an odd job with really bad pay and even worse hours. What he was not prepared for were the inhabitants of notorious Freddy Fazbear's Pizza!
Things take a twist when the animatronic mascots start to act weird almost as if they had a will of their own. We got a good glimpse at live action Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Foxy and Bonnie. But of course, they kept the best for last with the "Yellow Rabbit" fans will recognize as Spring Bonnie or Springtrap!
We hope you enjoy our reaction and commentary as we discuss how this film fits multiple games into its storyline, how the utilization of sound effects help convey the horror in this film while remaining with a PG-13 rating.
Sit back, relax and join us for a slice of pizza while we witness this film filled with animatronic nightmares!

To me this was a great movie and for a pg13 movie the kills were very awesome and they were scary and I loved Matthew in the movie considering he was afton and I love all that was put in the film to make this a dream come true for me and that springlock scene had everyone screaming and whistling and clapping with him then saying “I always come back!” Was awesome

We do agree that rotten tomatoes score was a bit too harsh. There’s a middle ground for everything. Even being a film critic. But horror flicks always get the worst treatment of them all. This movie does not deserve a 20-30% on RT. Even if some people dislike the movie we can all agree that score is way too low.

Now comes to think of it. I was wondering hence Garrett was killed by William. Where is he? And after some deep thoughts about it. I realized, Garrett might be the first Victim. Instead of Charlie in FNAF Movie Time Line. Garrett as the Puppet? At the end credits, It not only plays Grand Father’s Clock music box, which is the iconic theme for The Puppet. But it also said said “Come Fine Me” at the end, maybe this is a message from Garrett to tell Mike to find him. When you put of that altogether, it makes a lot of sense. Second Movie will be about Mike helping Vanessa as her soul currently trap in the Freddy Fazbear Pizza Place. While he have to fight William Afton again. As well as he have to convince his Brother, Garrett who is being the Puppet, to let Vanessa go and put the gang to rest.

They were made by the Jim Henson Company who has also done a lot of famous work in Star Wars, The Dark Crystal, etc. And apparently for all of the characters, there were multiple puppeteers operating at all times on them. I just appreciate the focus on practically made pieces for the characters. I don't think they would be as creepy otherwise.
According to the director, some of the animatoronics even moved on set while no one was puppeteering them...😬

I went and saw it today and I really loved it! For it being based on the first game with easter eggs from the other games and books all the way through, they did a fantastic job. The movie kept me engaged with the characters the entire time, and that is a huge thing for a movie: to have likable, believable characters that the audience roots for and wants to know what's going to happen to them. The FNAF gang looked fantastic! I'm a huge sucker for practical effects in movies and I love that they used real robotics and puppets for them to really make it feel authentic. It shows how much passion and hard work that the film makers had while creating this movie. And the Spring Bonnie suit was absolutely stunning and terrifying at the same time.

William Afton accepting he will become Springtrap (he wore the helmet like a crown) indicates he will get his revenge on Mike, Vanessa, and Abby (fridge drawing foreshadowing).
    1. Mike will become the new Golden Freddy.
    2. Vanessa will be transformed into Springtrap's slave, Vanny.
    3. Abby will become the Circus Baby. The way she talked to William before his transformation in Springtrap hints at signs of sadism.

The ending credits have music from _The Living Tombstone_ , who actually made it as a music video around when the first FNAF came out, so that's a very nice thing to include fan-made material. It's been around for so long, I don't think many people even realize that song wasn't from the game itself.
I don't know if you're familiar with the FNAF songs from _The Living Tombstone_ ? He used to make one for each game, integrating the disturbing lore into them, while still making very catchy EDM songs out of them. Sometimes he used vocaloid voices for them, other times he collaborated with some others to sing the lyrics. But one thing stands out: the lyrics have a very captivating way of storytelling, while the visuals are either used for setting the mood, supporting the lyrics or as visual storytelling altogether.
While you're not really music reactors, perhaps it may be interesting to react to the storytelling through the visuals and lyrics? You know the lore, so dissecting those lyrics should be fun to do as well. I know it's a stretch, but I figure if nobody suggests it, it'll never happen either.
    *Opinion*
As for this movie, if you consider it an _adaptation_ it's a huge failure. We don't even see Mike having to deal with the animatronics in the security room, which was the whole point about the original of FNAF in terms of gameplay. I think if they included that in there, it would've made this better as an adaptation. And they could've done that easily, especially when Mike was trying to break down the door while Foxy was coming at him.
If they'd have let him run to the security room instead, they could've used a couple of minutes of him trying to figure out where all of the animatronics are, making them show up outside of the door, seeing them disappear or move, etc. before him dashing off and ending up at that same door. So I think that's a missed opportunity for the movie.
However, if you consider it a _homage_ then it works perfectly; we're having an actual movie with plenty of source material (animatronics, William Afton, security room, the cameras, etc.) and references. I have to admit that it took me a fair moment to shift the mindset from adaptation to homage, so my initial disappointment eventually turned into a positive one.

My favorite indie horror franchise "bendy" will also get a film adaptation soon and I hope the bendy movie could surpass the FNAF movie critically and financially. For those who don't know, bendy is a horror game series and media franchise created by TheMeatly and Mike Desjardins. Set in retro times, the series is focused on Joey Drew Studios, a fictional animation studio run by Joey Drew, which was responsible for numerous popular characters such as Bendy and his friends. The plot revolves around the Ink Machine, a mysterious machine created by Drew and the Gent Corporation in order to create living cartoons, which were created from the souls of Drew's employees, and is responsible for a time loop day world called the Cycle. Each game has different protagonist trying to survive and free themselves from the horrors in the ink realm and against ink monsters such as The Ink Demon. Compared to fnaf (mainly every game but security breach and especially FNAF world), The Bendy games are set at the fictional studio of Joey Drew Studios, where the player navigates through a first-person perspective and have limited physical actions such as running and jumping. Players are required to complete certain objectives to proceed, which consist of solving certain puzzles by collecting certain objects and of combating enemies that appear through the games by using certain weapons, such as axe, pipe, gun, etc. this gives bendy a massive adaptation advantage since the the characters we play as already scripted stories of what to do and in what order. There is also the fact that, speaking of the characters, there are hardly any fill in characters (who are just a name with a body we don't see) as Henry (the protagonist of the first game) while at the time unmodeled until dark revival, has a backstory and a personality. So did Boris the wolf's ink incarnation and Audrey drew. There's also the fact that while bendy might still have some mysteries behind it, it is much more straight forward than fnaf is and many of its secrets just need a bit of exploring and do not need a genius to figure them out.
So Here is what I think the bendy film/s should do:
    1. stick to the intended genre
    2. Not care about the age rating
    3. Adapt stuff only from the game they're specifically adapting and take as little as possible from future installments but if done, make it have some sense.
A few things that I think should be noted is that while it's fine to put some jokes there, they should be used in a way that fits the characters personalities. I don't think it'll be a good idea to repeat the fortBuilding scene in the five nights at Freddy's film. Now, it doesn't have to adapt everything at 100%. I do think the film will need a better opening than the one in the game (like making the letter more apologetic and see how Henry got it in the first place) , and make the ink demon more menacing than in the game (like an animalistic Jason Voorhees/Michael Myers or at best, like gordy from NOPE and Oswald's rabbit from oswald down the Rabbit hole). Maybe those are my tastes, but I think that the film should be as least practical as possible to better express the cycle's nature. Films like harold and the purple crayon, IF, Lyle Lyle Crocodile, the new king Kong films, ghost hunters on icey trails, Ghostbusters afterlife, Ghostbusters frozen empire, 2016 Ghostbusters, Jurassic world, Sonic the hedgehog live action films, 2017 woody woodpecker and woody woodpecker goes to camp are what I'd go for in terms of how the less natural characters are shown (specifically characters like the Boris clones, the projectionist and lost ones would be made with motion capture, angels and Sammy are at least partly motion captured and monsters like the ink demon, giant bendy hand, searchers and butcher gang members are fully animated only the Bertram carousel is practical). The cycle itself and it's object may have to be practical though. If so, an influence I'd take for making the cycle a reality is the visuals of the comic book world in the second music video of a-ha's "take on me". I also think the film should have a song to trademark it with, much like how it was with the FNAF film when it used the 1987 song: "talking in your sleep". In this case, the song should be "smile darn ya smile" for the following reasons:
    1.it's a 1931 song.
    2. its lyrics are positivity themed which would be interesting to listen to in the despair themed world of the cycle (and could have a dark humor scene showing a character having a breakdown while this song plays in the background or play in the background in the moment twisted Alice tortures a piper which would be a nice reference to soldier boy's PTSD in which he was subjected to torturous expirementations while the Russian song "Побег" which means "escape").
    3. it kinda associates well with bendy because bendy has an iconic grin.
    4. the song was needledroped in "who framed Roger Rabbit", a live action/animated hybrid movie.
I also have an idea for who some of the cast and crew should be:
Themeatly as supervisor, screenwriter and Wally franks
Mike desjardins as supervisor and thomas Connor/tom
Bookpast as screenwriter and jack fain/voice of swollen Jack
    Ralph Bakshi as director
    Melanie Martinez as composer

Ilyssa Levy as a bendy cartoon animator
Alex Hirsch as bendy cartoon animator

I think the film itself should start with an in universe documentary film detailing the work life in Joey Drew studios akin to iron horse Cinema's the lost news reel video: ruclips.net/video/WUxyj9grH5Q/видео.htmlsi=DNUaCS0aAaPlHbl5 and the beginning of the art of darkness music video: ruclips.net/video/u81OS9hC85g/видео.htmlsi=-hyuR5vsUvW6mNoj (During Which, the film glitches at times between joey treating them good and Joey treating them horribly). After that sequence, it's a cut to the title card and after that, the first act starts with a scene of Henry doodling to himself when Linda tries to tell him either dinner, lunch or breakfast is ready or to go to bed or something like that, with him apologizing that he was so busy with drawing even though he said he will not do so anymore so he could spend more time with her. I also wanted to have a scene that shows how Henry "got" his letter from joey (while also spending time with his wife and maybe kids if he has some).
I also think that if it's going to be a film series, here are what I think would be perfect for adaptation:
Movie one: adapting chapter 1 and 2
Movie two: adapting chapter 3 and the beginning of 4
    Movie three: adapting chapter 4
    Movie four: adapting chapter 5

I found a lot of people between actual movie critics and regular people on social media talked bad on it. On social media a lot of people I came across were like “it’s not scary at all, there’s no gore” and then you come to realize that the games aren’t that scary and what’s truly scary is the story but you don’t really experience it outside of minigames and the books anyway; any game that’s scary without counting the VR ones are the fan-made ones like TJOC. With that being said, since I’m not one to let others decide if a movie is good by my standards, I truly enjoyed this one when I got to it, very nice adaptation…
Plus 2 franchise RUclipsrs acting(minus Mark), a good amount of pictures of other RUclipsrs on the “Employee of the Month” billboard, and listening to The Living Tombstone as the first credit song, felt nostalgic and quite amazing for me😁

Sure, it won't scare the socks off of you or anything but seeing something so iconic being brought to life on the big screen is a thrilling and emotional experience (like what they did with Mario). On top of that, it was straightforward, satisfying, and entertaining, which I think constitutes a worthwhile movie to experience in theaters. Not to mention the cameos!!

I like how this movie kinda makes you ROOT for the animatronics even in the beginning. Giving you bad guys to kill and you just can't wait to see them in action.

@@OfficialMediaKnights apparently the second movie is in pre production already. I hope they’ll bring in some of the animatronics from the second game, especially Mangle, because the creepy shots they could get of it hanging around in a ceiling, vents, etc. are plentiful

@@MarvelConnoisseurSame here, been waiting for 8 years aswell.
And about the Next movie, idk if the crédit song with the final message may mean FNAF 2.
Since yknw, Jack in the box is puppet's theme, and the last message, "come find me" is said with the sound of the minigame where Charlie's death was shown for first time

@@ikergonzalez4222I’m wondering if Garrett will be this universe’s Charlie/Puppet but I’m just hoping they use it next movie and potentially bring in Henry Emily
