@@nightday2030 Sure. Toho, the company that owns Godzilla, is extremely strict about other studios using him in films and TV. Movies sometimes only pay for using his name (like in this scene). Others will have a clip of a Godzilla film and not use its original audio (Mars Attacks). I hope that explains it better.

For the first time in 20 years, I've considered that this wasn't planned.
I have a feeling they originally _wanted_ to use an actual Godzilla Float for this scene, but when Toho said "No," they drafted this entire sequence just to make-fun-of the situation.

im sure u figured this out by now reason y they couldnt get rights to use Godzilla cuz of TriStars epic failed & disgusting Godzilla(Zilla) from 1998. since that movie TOHO has been strict on anyone around the world to use Godzilla. they dont mind they pay the rights to use Godzilla Theme but the actual Godzilla rights thats hard to come by
The rights to Godzilla are notoriously hard to get, which is why it's difficult to even find half the movies outside of Japan.

They were probably restricted only on Godzilla, for the things they did show however they probably paid to have it in there. (Which begs the question as to why they couldn't just buy the rights.....but then again they prob chose not to just so they could add this bit into the movie)

The fact is that they used openly-copyrighted stuff when they just a second ago were saying that they couldn't use any.

Did everyone notice how everyone (including the poor Charmander) is running for their lives, yet you look at the Pikachu in the corner looking scared for a brief moment before it's sitting there like, "Heh, that bitch knows better than to deal with me, I'll electrocute his ass." I just can't help but laugh at that XD
I honestly did not catch that the Pikachu was there. All I saw was the Charmander.
