I purchased an Ultralite R/WB years ago upon recommendation by a survival instructor in Tok, AK. He told me there was one brand of sleeping bag that he would trust with his life, Wiggys. That bag has served me for well over ten years from Alaska to Texas, been laundered countless times and still looks and works great. Thanks for making such an amazing product!
my husband loves your bags and he bought me one just after we got married 20+ years ago. I will never use another bag. This is the best system I have ever encountered.
Thanks Jerry. All of your gear is recommended by us here at MI-TAC. Your sleeping bags are the only bags I recommend for below-freezing temps and any emergency or preparedness situations. Thank you for making your products in the USA and thank you for your excellent customer service! P.S. Please show us the green Ducksback Fabric and also more Mulitcam colored products!
Thanks for the two bag system video! I am a new customer who has heard good things about your products. I just ordered a purple bag from you, and a poncho. I intend to order the grey outer bag, so was pleased to see the demonstration! I will also order Lamilite socks, because there is nothing worse than cold, wet, diabetic feet! My son works outdoors, and he's getting a pair, too! We had many feet of snow this year. He is also coveting my poncho, I will order a liner also to try it out. Thank you again, and best wishes!
I have multiple wiggy's bags, since 1997, sierra mitts about 20 years now, still going strong. My antarctic parka is now about 20 years old and my wife is coveting it...so will have to buy her one now. ALL my wiggy's gear is just unbelievable. We get down to an easy -29 F here in the midwest so my Wiggy's gear is priceless to me. You cannot beat the function/durability/ and service.
Jerry, thanks for a great product. When I called your firm years ago it was you who answered the phone! Spent a while visiting and getting the right product ordered for me. I always remembered that. Thanks a lot.
I called in earlier today and he was the one who answered the phone. It's really nice to deal with someone who actually takes pride in their product, rather than just trying to make a quick buck. I don't mind paying extra for that. I can't wait to get my bag in a few days.
Great stuff, I love seeing your presence on the web and thing that your sharing this information on youtube is going to cause you to expand your workforce. Most folks just have no idea about your quality until word of mouth shares your products. This Sir I hope will start a boon. Good for you! I will keep adding to my collection of your product line as I have yet to be unhappy with any I have so far.
big fan of your work, I live in Northern Canada up in Manitoba Gilliam and we see -50 Celsius for about three months of the year. My father has one of your bags and swears by them. I used it once and couldn't have been warmer. I'm looking at getting one of your bags out right now, and I'm very excited to test my own. It was great seeing all of your products and I enjoyed watching your videos on how your process is done!
@@wiggyswiggy, I heard of the 2 bag system 23 some years ago, either some older brother put 2bags together or ot was this system, I am not sure. I liked this idea alot, cos pf my small build and easily get chilled through in 3 seasons beside summer. I am under 5 ft and under 100 lbs, so good luck to me to find a good size for me (not hopeful), still, I love your work, and I subbed as soon as I found your channel. Congrats for 153 subs 6 yrs ago and 10 times more now🎉🎉🎉 I am no military, just the humble daughter of Mother Nature, who chooses to sleep in backyard in order to be closer to my Spiritual Mother and feel Loved and Supported 😢❤
I have four of your Arctec bags and the the city of Nome Alaska also purchased your bags for search and rescue Nome Volunteer Fire Department. Personally have slept in -45 below in the arctic. You have talked to me multiple times for input on your bags. Your bags are the best in the business! I also have 5 of your king size comforter blankets that I give away as Christmas presents!
I have one of the older models without that cool breakaway zipper. I was in the Army when they started with the MSS sleep system, which is essentially a copy of yours. I can tell you though, it doesnt get down to -40, as we stayed a few nights in the -30 range-and I was COLD.
As a many year user of the military's ECWS module bag system (I refer to it to most people as a 4 season bag), these bags by Wiggy's are a new standard. Seen where the AF is using them for survival kits on F35's for sub zero survival. What I like about the 4 bag military system is that it's great for summer, winter, any season and the gortex bivy is great. The -60/80 rating of the survival bag is hard to fathom I've only been out in -5 (all weekend) on a boy scout camp out (tents). For a singular cold weather bag, I know now where I'm going to be looking.
tc, for your information i created the two bag system but the Natick crowd bastardized it to what you have which is good for 0 degrees as a set, mine -40 F. so when you replace it as you should get the SUPER LIGHT FTRSS (OVERBAG) and you will have the system that has never failed since inception 1993. thanks for writing.
Awesome, Jerry! It's cool to see a wave of new videos. This is a great one- I have five Wiggy's bags but it's cool to see the products I don't have any maybe wouldn't otherwise see like the EMT/Hypothermia bag. A specialized item beyond my normal range of uses but fascinating nonetheless. How you only have 153 subs? Wiggy's really is the best kept secret in hard use outdoors gear.
I have an antarctic wiggys bag and another brand bag that uses down as filling rated for 20 degrees. To this bag I've added 16 oz of additional down by cutting each baffle, adding the down, then patching the hole. The temperature dropped to 0 last night and I slept 3 hours in each bag to see which was better. Both were adequately warm though the wiggys bag was a little warmer. My down bag is half the size and weight. In both bags my face felt like it was freezing. If I put my face in the bag cold air would enter either bag. My down bag isn't constructed as good as it could be. So adding down won't overcome these shortcomings. I have looked at western mountaineering bags on their website and their bags are going to be in a whole other league than my down bag. I still trust my wiggys bag more than a down filled bag because I have slept in a wiggys bag night after night. Wiggys bags are very good and reliable. I wouldn't own any other synthetic bag. I've owned 3. But they are twice or three times the size compressed as a down bag. You'll likely spend more money to buy a bag that's as warm as wiggys antarctic bag.
Hello Jerry. Do you remember talking with a man from Alaska named John Runkle? I am just curious if you remember him. He is my Dad. I have one of the -40 bags and it’s served me well over the years. Lots of use out on the trap line and spring bird hunting. I am heading out tomorrow and I was getting my bag setup. It made me want to see if you had any videos on RUclips. Your bags are hands down the best and my father always recommended them. Thank you sir.
O M G - as soon as I watch all these videos I am going to call and get one of these just want to figure out the best one for me! This is like biggest hidden secret out there I was looking at MSS system because in past you could buy for 100.00 but now those are like 200-500 used and the other really light stuff is like 800.00 bucks on down stuff and more than i want to spend not to mention I am big guy over 300 lbs so I dont need crazy light weight just want a back can put on my 65-75lb ruck which MSS is really big and I was willing to pack that. Wiggy stuff looks awesome!
Wow, I can't believe Infind your channel~! I want to buy both ultralight and super light sleeping bags that are on sale right now, however I am under 5 feet short!! I have the funds but not the height/lemgth. I really hope there are Wiggy's sleeping bagags for my humble height 😅
stumbled across your web site. I enjoyed your blog from the website on history of various incarnations of polyester fiber fill. I found it very educational. Do you have a Canadian distributor? Thinking I need a -20F bag!
I would be interested in a multicam stuff sack. I'll call to see if you can make one after I get my whole setup the way I like it and know what size I will need. If like to avoid having a big black block on the outside of my camouflage on my pack and I think that would serve me well.
How do the hoods work with the 2 bag system? Do you cinch up both or just the outer? I'm looking to get an over bag for my ultra light reg/wide boat foot for winter camping in Minnesota. But I might also get a super light with it since so many people say to have a -40 bag. Plus I would have a bag for above zero trips. From my experience with your bags I think the temp ratings are very conservative. I'm confident I could take the ultralight down to 10 degrees F and still be comfortable.
number one the insulation is not down but LAMILITE which you can learn about on the web site. The Lamilite can be compressed for years and when it is removed from the vacuum package it will return to its original loft.
I have you Arctic sleeping bag and it is extremely warm. My only problem is that I cannot get the bag into the stuff sack that you provided with it. Do you have a larger stuff sack that it will fit into? I see in your video that you have what appears to be a stuff sack with straps down the length on the side. Is it possible to get one of those and will it work on the Arctic bag?
Velcro seams simpler then a vipper Yet its not stealthy for the military. Yet back packers may like a velcro system to join 2 bags But your the designer not me😁
Trust me zipper is best, especially in winter. I can see the Velcro if not aligned, or closed properly will have gaps, and if debris or snow will also suck for Velcro.
I am on the fence, but ready to buy an overbag and came across your company. I am a side sleeper and need some room to toss and turn. I did go with a Nemo Riff rated at 15 degree Farenheit. I would like to boost that(10 to 20 degrees) with your overbag. I am 6'3" and slim. What overbag do you recomend?
Thanks for the quick reply, but I am commited to the Nemo. But would really like to boost it's temperature rating using one of your overbags. I did forget to mention that I am a backpacker. Your recomendation comes in at 9 lbs. If I go with the nautilis, will it give me that boost in temp? I will have to get your info out on the clubtread forum.
I called and got horrible customer service , I heard a woman in the background say I sounded drunk , maybe that comment will be remembered by wiggy , I have had 5 different wiggys products , and they do work well , but I can't own a product sold by a jerk....
Mark maybe you came across as having been drinking. I was not privy to hear you but if that is what was heard so be it. if you chose not to make any further purchases from Wiggy's so be it. I will not go out of business and you will be biting your nose to spite your face.
You kind of type like you're drunk but I'm not trying to offend you. Your spelling is perfect but you use commas instead of periods. Which makes it sound like your paragraph is one, long, rambling, slurred sentence. I'm guessing that you have bad vision and can't tell which one is the comma key and which is the period key. Because the keys both look like comma keys on my keyboard because I have slight vision issues. I can blink repeatedly and then I can see which key is which. The person that said you sounded drunk is probably the person who drinks.
Can't shake off the DIY quality... Can't get anyone to like his stuff. And he loves bashing garment other makers . ... Even they are more consistent quality.and procurement is at modern levels. His sleeping bags perform really well. Some of his items do appear to have a DIY quality. Like his lamelite airplane wing warmers. His lamelite cat bed. But you know that a cat would love sleeping on that thing. You can't blame a man for trying to market a new item. I bought 3 bags which are awesome and one of his perpetual light glow in the dark lights. That thing was kind of useless but at the same time it's cool as hell. Mine disappeared. I'm ordering another one right now if he still sells them. Everyone should own one of his super light bags just to keep in their car. That bag isn't too bulky and if you broke down in the middle of nowhere you wouldnt freeze to death no matter how cold it got. You'd be comfortable down to 0 degrees and probably lower. If I catch the flu and get the chills, I get in my wiggys super light bag in my house. I've loaned it to other people who were sick and couldn't overcome the chills.
I purchased an Ultralite R/WB years ago upon recommendation by a survival instructor in Tok, AK. He told me there was one brand of sleeping bag that he would trust with his life, Wiggys. My ECWS bag system failed me during a winter rotation in high humidity. Buying a Wiggy's 2 bag this weekend.
andrew you are not the first to do this. thank you wiggy
Just picked up my 2 bag system. What a quality product! Can't wait to test it in Europe this year.

Tell us about that Rolex Mr. Wiggy 👀
Jerry what do you think of Western Mountaineering sleeping bags, supposed to be made only in the USA too ? I love Wiggys products personally !
i believe wm has their shells made in asia and they blow the down in california. thank you for loving your wiggy's products.
Have you seen or considered using the new QuickFree zippers from YKK?
I have you Arctic sleeping bag and it is extremely warm. My only problem is that I cannot get the bag into the stuff sack that you provided with it. Pretty cool.
Would it hold up in '40 degree with wind chill -60 need a bag running iti Iditarod in Alaska 350 mile
Can you store the bags zipped together into a stuffsack?
yes not a problem
Do you still sell the flotation suit? Or discontinued? I could use one for my boat.
yes we do.I do believe it is on the web sit. look further
I know these bags can be stored compressed, but should I worry about over compressing them while backpacking?
not at all. you can get then as tight as possible.
hello there! my question is size. Im 6'3" 230#. What size bag (s) should I use to be comfy in?
either the long and wide mummy or the hunter with hood model
nice to learn, thanks
I want a wiggy but the website doesn't cooperate.
They thought of everything.
If your bags are good enough for Navy SEALs then they will be OK with the manbun & grande caramel latte mochaccino folks!!!!!
