  • Established in the year of 1979 by the Indian railways, Mysore Rail Museum is the second museum of its kind, after the National Railway Museum, which is located in Delhi. This museum boasts of a rich collection of photographs and various items depicting various stages in the development of Indian railways along with a captivating exhibit of locomotives. Previously most of the exhibits of the museums were kept at the Mysore Palace and later were shifted to their present place.
    Mysore Railway museum timings are 10.00 AM to 5.30 PM. Visitors can visit this museum on all days of the week except on Tuesdays.
    Visitors are charged a minimal entry fee for exploring the marvelous collection at this railway museum. Entry fee for adults is said to be Rs.50 per person while for child it is Rs.25 only.
    Mysore Railway Museum is easily accessible as it is located quite near to the railway station of Mysore. From the city center it is about 3 km away. It is located on the Krishnaraja Sagar Road (KRS Road), standing opposite to the CFT Research Institute.
