Very Useful! I've been knitting off & on for decades and have always just "winged" any seaming I had to do, trying to be as neat as possible. Earlier I watched a video on the mattress stitch and tried using it on my current project. After seeing the Bickford Seam, I might just pull out the first seam I've done and use the Bickford instead. It definitely looks neater, especially for knitted infant clothing. Thanks.
Thank you. I had never heard of this method for seaming! I am not sure where I would use it because I would probably be unhappy with the visible "dashes" of yarn running up each column of stitches but it is always nice to know a technique is there in case it is just the thing to use in a situation. Loved your clear and easy to follow video.
I'm going to use this method to seam some fingerless gloves I knitted. I prefer the second version. If the yarn is going to show it might as well be in a neat pattern.
I've just found your channel and I love your clear, well-paced delivery. I have a question about the Bickford Seam - can this be used to join raglan sleeves? I've been knitting for years, but I feel that my sewing up is never as good as I'd like. Would you consider doing a tutorial on sewing up raglans, set in sleeves, etc.?
Thank you very much :) I think that would be possible; I would just say that the bickford seam isn't as invisible from the outside as other seaming methods, nor quite as strong. I certainly plan to do jumper knitting tutorials in the future, but I think that's going to be quite a way off! Try VeryPink on RUclips - her videos are very good and cover those kinds of topics.
You are a great teacher
Thanks very much :D
Very helpful video, especially for weaving seams on socks made on flatbed machine. A great reminder on how I used to do seams. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! :D

very useful, thanks. My pattern says "join raglan shapings using a "flat seam". I will try this method.
Great! I hope it goes well for you :)
Very useful thank you!
