Asser - I wanted to say thanks for the videos. I've watched the majority of the material, and in some cases twice. Your content is well organized and you keep a good pace that is easy to follow but also not so fast that the information can't be absorbed well - usually without having to rewind. And in fact, I will probably purchase the software because of how easy you have made an introduction to the platform. Since you ask for feedback I also want to recommend something. From what I can tell, all or most of the videos are in 720p. I expect most people that are using ArcGIS/MAP probably have higher end graphics systems. So they are also likely viewing the 720p video on a 1080p or higher resolution screen. I've been watching on a 55 inch 4k display or a 43 inch 4k display. Even though my resolution is set to 1080p, the 720p quality creates a overly-expressed anti-aliasing effect that sometimes makes the menus and various other graphical items difficult to distinguish at first glance. I think it would look much better if you were to record your sessions in 1080p or higher. What do you think? If it's an issue with your display capture software you might try OBS Studio. I've been using it for years. It's open source and free, and is easy to use. Thanks again for the great content.

So ArcMap is the viewer and Arc Catalog is the data management tool for your assets... ?? You use Arc Catalog to create the logical structures you need for the sake of organization, and then add those databases with their features into ArcMap as you see fit so they will show up...

While working in ArcMap I find myself wanting to use Arc Catalog to add something - in this case a shape file. I can perform a refresh in the Catalog. But ArcMap doesn't show the addition in the right hand shortcut pullout dialog for Catalog. I have to close ArcMap and re-run the program for it to show up. Even if I right click in the pullout and select refresh it doesn't poll the database changes. I'm using SQLEXPRESS by the way. Any thoughts on how to refresh in ArcMap without restarting?

Try to close the catalog window on ArcMap and open it again. This works for me sometimes without restarting ArcMap.

Another great video - and more questions of course. You might want to start interactive courses... Anyway. When selecting a projected coordinate system it seems like there are a lot of options to choose from. Short of experience on each of those, how would someone new to this get familiar with each one of them without having to learn them all? Is there a generalized list of each coordinate system followed by a definition of the system and a reason why you might choose that one over the other options? Like some sort of reference table for the projected coordinate system?

Thanks! We just launched out online course couple weeks ago, check it out www.arcgismastery.com.
Regarding your questions, you dont need to learn or know all of the different coordinate systems. you just need to know the difference between "Geographic Coordinate System" and "Projected Coordinate System" and based on what is you project is about and the size and location of your study areas then every country, continent or regions use different coordinate system either projected or geographic.
Geographic mostly used for accurate locations and for large areas like continents and oceans.
Projected mostly used for accurate measure calculations and smaller areas.
WGS 1984 is the most commonly used coordinate system.
