It sounds like a lot of people like the new Civic, especialy the R model. Some declare the Civic the best car or the best car of it's segment. The world is maybe not as stable as it used to be and that goes for car manufacturers as well. :)

There is a tonne of factors affecting this .. many manufacturers are consolidating production and development .. at some level going forward it will be lower volume with larger margins per vehicle .. manufacturers will share more technology to increase economies of scale and they will need to access the customer direct with what is called agency sales and in car app subscriptions

This is such a brilliant topic and worthy of a video even though its not a truck video. We know you have a soft spot for Honda. Basically honda is not building cars that people want and often not as good as the competitors. Every time I drive a modernish Honda it has terrible suspension, under powered engines, not good on fuel, insane prices on parts, anything not mechanical like engine and gearbox, like say interiors fall apart like a starving Christmas tree including outer trim parts, also closing swindon will knock loyal customers who were buying them as it was as close to buying a good UK car as possible, the pricing is just ridiculous too. You can get better hyundai's and kia at a fraction of the price.

I bought the New Honda Jazz Hybrid about 6 months ago and love it very much, all very positive reviews. I enjoy the Honda brand because I like what they do a lot but agree with everything you've said here, sadly.
They have developed a habit over the years of being ahead of curve but so much so that the vehicles are sort of compromised in some way. If the Honda-e had twice the range it would've been a smash hit. The Honda Insight beat the Prius to market by six months or so IIRC but only one of them sold millions and had multiple generations. The new HR-V is good but the engine is the same from the Jazz that's half the size and isn't strong enough and makes a hell of a noise. Probably many more examples.
I hope they get something going soon because I want their weird and wonderful products and designs to continue!

A very difficult question to answer Stavros. A more mainstream EV would have helped. The new Civic sounds very good and with the poor charging facilities in the U.K. represents a very viable option. Same in Ireland. Although the new Civic has made it to U.K. the waiting list for one is long. I have an Accord but that has not sold in the U.K. for some years now, which is a shame as the new model looks very good.

The trouble with the Republic of Ireland is the government tax. My mate lives in Northern Ireland and works in Dublin. I am on my 5th honda, never buy new but second hand and drive them stress free into the ground, the issue is euro average European average car emission standards, honda cannot achieve them, they had to pay 100 million to tesla for emission credits to enable them to remain in Europe, everyone bought the Crv and nobody bought the jazz so average co2 was too high.

It is going on everywhere, I think the younger generations are starting to not bother driving and those who can, often cannot afford to buy a brand new car and only the older generations can buy new cars and they are favouring Crossovers and faux SUV's. Like you with Honda, for me Ford are becoming a major disappointment, their only entry level car now is the soon to be cancelled Fiesta and that starts at nearly £20,000. The next cheapest is the horrible EcoSport starting at nearly £24,000 and that is not entry model money and entry level cars are usually what start brand loyalty. Soon all we are going only going to able to buy crossovers and faux SUV's and that is somewhat heartbreaking as I love stepping into my low slung car after for a barnstorm through the lanes home after sitting 8ft in the air driving a Mercedes Arocs at a maximum speed of 56mph/80kmh for twelve hours of the day.

I had a Honda Jazz MK2 made in Japan, one of the first ones to land in Portugal in 2008. A fantastic reliable car, super practical and served me well for more than 10 years. I came to the UK and bought a used Honda Civic MK8, 1.8 cc Another fantastic car even if a bit of a guzzler for 2023
I am soon on the look for a used car.... probably not going to Honda again... it is a shame.
I am looking for a hybrid. Dont get me wrong the new hybrid Civic is a fantastic car but is a bit too big, it looks a tad awkward AND is a bit too pricey.
It just seems that Honda cannot find that sweet spot with a model for the last few years since the Honda Civic MK10 The styling definitely didn't help. While the Toyota CH-R was turning heads, including mine and I dont really like SUVs
Toyota just took Honda's place in my opinion... and I'm really looking into the Corolla now... I'm not at all into this "SUVs wannabe" fad.
