    I always put Michelin’s on my cars etc. And where I work you constantly see cheap tyres going on the trucks that come in for service and need tyres. As per you get what you pay for 👍🏼👍🏼

    I drove a brand new Volvo coach that came with Bridgestone, from day 1 I was on at the boss to change to the Michelin that was normal on all the other Volvos, as the ride was so hard.

    Depends on the tyre. Continental and Michelin sport contact and sport pilots for example barely last 15k miles on a car meanwhile they Primacy can easily make it to 20k. Pirelli cinturato or Bridgestone Turanza seem to be the only decent ones for longevity

    • @TWJW
      @TWJW 2 года назад

      I had continentals on my car when car came new in 2018 was lucky if I got 20k kms out of them replaced them with General Altimax tyres after being recommended to by the tyre place car now on 64k and still life left in the tyres hopefully will see the car out to July when the new one hopefully arrives to replace it

    One thing i'd have like to have seen, how do both brands perform wet and dry under heavy braking ? does one trade mileage for grip?

  • @IRLangmaid25
    @IRLangmaid25 3 года назад +2

    What were you seeing in terms of fuel consumption between the two tyres.

  • @jamestamu83
    @jamestamu83 2 года назад +1

    Tires that wear faster often have a softer tread which can yield better traction in wet conditions. Tire wear is just one measure of overall performance. Comfort, vibration level, traction, braking performance all need to be considered. I use Michelin on my personal auto but I know that Bridgestone makes a great tire also. Interesting study, but certainly not a comprehensive comparison. I like that the Michelin representative acknowledged that this was just one result on just your vehicle. Shows he is objective and a professional.

    3:21 I think it's 6×4 with tandem lift just guessing from tyre pattern of tag axle

    • @EduardSLVRU
      @EduardSLVRU 3 года назад +1

      It all depends of what configuration has been ordered. Double wheels might be for a better grip and weight distribution. Since this is a XT chassis which is built for a construction and off road use. Then definitely it might be 6x4.

    • @Winchester1979
      @Winchester1979 3 года назад +1

      The hub on the tag axle is different from the drive axle, so it's probably not a driven axle but a 6x2. I think double-wheel tag axles are for trucks where the extra axle is going to be more than just a rules dodge (see: UK-style mini-midlifts where the midlift mostly exists to allow an extra three tons on the trailer).

    hi stavros, Haitham here from East Africa, sorry could you please help and do a review on what is really the difference between the scanias P,G, and R series engine wise, are the engines mechanically different or is it just the cab difference that we know? thanks.

    • @mehmeterdemercin6132
      @mehmeterdemercin6132 3 года назад +1

      I am not a truck driver but I can give you the info about what I have seen and heard from my country. Normally G series has different engines than R but I heard you can order them with specific R series engines. G series are more simpler and probably better suited to use in developing markets and in places like construction and military where you need simplicity and toughness over technology. In Turkey, we both had R and G series, mostly G420 was very popular. (I am living in another country and not back since 2019) I know G series are still produced. In my country we preferred G series due to being able to use lower quality diesel and cheaper parts and maintenance costs. R series used to be the luxury but nowadays they have S series. And P series are lower cabs, generally I see them in 360 370hp. P is used as truck chassis and tractors. I have seen P series in Thailand mostly. Generally 6x2 with tag axle. Not much but generally pulling fuel tankers. Normal stuff are Hino and UD trucks. Also some chinese. Places near EU more likely to use R series and G series. P series doesn’t have V8 options, only straight 6 cylinders. And I heard G and P series share same drivetrains. I also think G series are not available with V8. They say up to 500hp. And I saw that Scania also includes 410hp petrol(gasoline) powered truck, probably for use LPG or LNG. I saw trucks in Thailand run on LPG and CNG. So we have L series, I never seen them maybe it is for Urban use only, P series, also urban but maybe you can use as a Truck in truck chassis configuration as a box truck or as tractor for also urban and cheaper and smaller alternatives to others. We have G series made for more tough situations, built simpler with cost and repair in mind, R series, made for comfort, and S for being flagship. R and S series are flagship of Scania.

    Silly question, but why do some units have the tag Axel at the rear.? Thanks

    • @EduardSLVRU
      @EduardSLVRU 3 года назад +4

      Tag axle is for extra weight support. On some trucks a tag axle drops down automatically when drive axle get up to the certain weight. Also tag axle is better than fixed axle, in this case when truck is unloaded or with a minimum weight. The tag axle lifts up, it helps to prevent drive wheels from over spin. Some truck have tag axle as a third and some as a middle. When tag axle at the back, then truck does more sharp turns because of shorter wheelbase. In my opinion, I like when tag axle at the back than in the middle. Also some trucks have tag axle as a steer axle, this is an additional benefit for turning when axle is down and all these features costs a lot of money.

    • @Winchester1979
      @Winchester1979 3 года назад

      In many cases it's a legal requirement because of how much the cargo being hauled weighs. Most countries only allow you to put so much weight on an axle, in order to not damage the road. But if you're not hauling that much (for example, if you've got an empty trailer that you're driving back to refill), having the axles on the ground just costs extra money and fuel, so a system for raising the unnecessary axle off the ground was invented.
