    You can use the OE cases.i just did a 365 with Italian OE cases.all I had to do was barley grind a little off that notch on the cases.fit great.

    I have the 52mm pop up non xtorque piston from lil red barn in my 372 with the 52mm mako cylinder and it is a great combo. I’m only running the top ring on my piston and have done a dual 3/4” port muffler mod and it runs absolutely amazing and snappy. Only thing I’ve wondered is the secondary transfer port is about 1/2 the size of the primary, not sure how much difference that makes.

    When I put the original kit cylinder back on my ms 460, I used 1184 on the base gaskets, instead of Dirko, that I was not pleased with its sealing. I have had no sealing problems with the 1184, as yet. I still have the newer cylinder I got for the 460, but it’s squish was so short I could not crank it, reliably. With the slightly larger squish of the original kit cylinder and two base gaskets it cranks and runs reliably. The 460 has lots of OEM parts on it, but is still for the most part Farmertec. The best upgrades were a Stihl carb and clutch springs.

  • @mbrick
    @mbrick 5 лет назад

    Can the case be saved by boring it out and dropping in a sleeve? Could also adjust the tolerances a hair to maybe try and prevent it from happening again, if you think this was fixed by adjusting the bearing fit on the later saws. Thanks for the video.

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  5 лет назад

      Sure, but at what cost? Something I may try in the new shop at some point. But for most, to hire someone to attempt that would cost more than a new set of OEM cases. IF there was a shop set up to sleeve and put in bearing ...they could be pretty busy if the price was right. Split the difference between AM and OEM cases maybe.

    • @mbrick
      @mbrick 5 лет назад

      @@afleetcommand Yes, of course. I just wanted to ask as you said they are junk. It looks like a set of cases is ~$360 retail? It would require a custom fixture on a lathe and tube stock on hand though. I have a friend who does this a lot for go kart engines.

      Those saws are awesome, and if you have a good dealer, who gives you feedback freely with CST, you really can understand not just about your saws life, but also some of your work statistics. Really good data and can be used in many ways. I wish more dealers would promote that capability....really a win-win for both the dealers and the customer..really is. It is a dealer only device but having a relationship with a good dealer is a good thing for all involved. The CST is a draw that I wish was promoted more.

      @@mart446 But you can't access the Huqvarna service site without a password and they only are given to service departments for dealers like the one I work for, so please don't spend your money on the "hookup hard ware" as you will most certainly be disappointed. Think of it along with your computer as a "terminal" to a central system, Husqvarna's service site; and with out that connection you really can't even run the software's interface. AND instead please strike up a relationship with a Husqvarna dealer who understands these things both from a technical and support perspective.. BOTH of you will be happy as a result, THAT is the take away I hope folks will get over time.

    Walter, when you used the Lil red barn pop up pistons have you checked the squish before (oem or aftermarket piston) and after with the LRB piston, I'm curious if they are a little bit taller or basically the same as a OEM. Another question is on the newer covers where they have captured nuts, do any of the current model saws have the cover with captured nuts that will fit the 372xp? Thanks.

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  5 лет назад +1

      Did that on my 365 48mm build. Can't remember exactly how it measured but I did measure if w/o base gasket there in that video. Looks to me as if the piston dimensions are as a stock with the additional material added for the popup.

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  4 года назад +1

      365 OE? or XT. Actually never used the Huztl carb on anything other than a Huztl saw. Suspect it will fit directly on an XT intake. Have to modify the boot on the OE's so you can rotate them. Did that in one of the video's. Only used OEM carbs on my builds though. Some I have to swap the throttle plates to a later version to get them to idle.

  • @craigtimmons3468

    One just has to wander if running the chain too tight may have something to do with at least a few of the bearing pocket issues or maybe even the heat generated by the inboard clutch assembly causing the case material to expand at too low of a temperature due to an improper material mix thus letting the bearing spin, just a thought.
    It appears that Husqvarna may have had a material issue and may have fixed it with an updated blend of materials being you haven't seen this issue for a few years now. Again just a thought.

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  5 лет назад +1

      But the bearings are never "spun" , those things are just pounded open. I'm sticking to my heavier and less dynamically balanced X-Torq...which they tinkered finally came up with a mix of things that made them statistically acceptable. Why they wanted to be below 13,000 in the early years. There may have been other manufacturing issues. But that new design top end had to be a factor. The good news is they did sort it out.

    Do you cold press the bearings into the case Walt? If so, perhaps a worthwhile experiment would be to use heat so the bearings just fall in place. Just a thought, hope all is well down your way bud.

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  5 лет назад +2

      Your kidding right? Been using heat for decades on cases. Like in the video prior, I use a Turkey Roaster at 300 degree's and the bearings just drop in. On those older builds I used either a hot plate, wood stove, or Heat gun to get the cases in the 280-310 degree range before removing or replacing bearings. I think my very first video in 2013-14 was having fun using a wood stove.

    • @afleetcommand

    • @afleetcommand
      @afleetcommand  5 лет назад +2

      SO every saw I have ever stuck together from the bottom up including the one in this video was with the heat differential method...:) And every case since the 1970's on the dirt bikes and out boards as well. The Turkey roaster is the latest ( this last year ) tool and is the best as I can have multiple cases in there to speed things up vs a heat gun.

      @afleetcommand  5 лет назад

      Because the 372 Original Editions are Stone Axe Reliable, wasn't until the "epa" inspired X-Torqs arrived all this crap shows up. I build back to OE, but you know that.I would build you an OE more along the lines of a 371 with the 51.4mm top end. Like the Jonsered I build we call the 2175..... and to be accurate like I mention in the video, Husqvarna sorted out even the X-Torq's over time. Post 2017 they are as reliable as anything on the market. Just took a couple of changes....and the good news there is everything is retro capable to any of the X-torqs. AND last a LOT for folks who modify saws prefer the X-Torqs..
