The theme song for the Kill Bill movie series
Cher also had a big hit with this song.
Phil, it wasn't a funeral, it was their wedding. "Music played and people sang, just for me the church bells rang"...Then she sings how he left her.
She also sang a James Bond movie theme song " You Only Live Twice"
'Summer Wine' (1967) next please. Duet with Lee Hazlewood who wrote the song.
It’s actually a Cher song written by her husband Sonny Bono,-66. Angelina has done this several time so beautifully since she was little.👌🔥❤️
Was it used in Kill Bill??? I really like the mystery sound of this song. Her voice is gorgeous.
@Nevelepride Yes I actually prefer Angelina Jordan’s version from Norway’s Got talent at 8 years old. She based her performance off the Nancy Sinatra version, not the Cher original
@melissacaddell2604 Nancy Sinatra’s version was used in Kill Bill. That’s how it gained popularity. It was just an album track in the 60s. Cher’s original was a huge hit.
This was interesting. The only version I'd ever heard before was the Sonny & Cher version.
Not a funereal, the church bell line is reference to a wedding, the childhood friends got married but then he “shot her down” again, leaving her without letting her know why
Sonny Bono (of the husband and wife duo, Sonny and Cher) wrote this song.
If you've seen "Kill Bill Volume 1" you heard this song in the opening credits.
I'm sure Nancy got a start due to her father's influence in the industry, but man she still killed it with a string of hits. Both as a solo artist, and the duets with Lee Hazelwood.
NB, this song was her best,in my view.
The song was used in the movie, "Kill Bill"
The song was written by Sonny Bono, of Sonny and Cher fame. Cher released her version of the song the same year.
Try listening to her with Lee Hazelwood in Summer wine
Loved her! Nancy was a rocker
Cher was the original singer written by her then husband Sonny Bono , check a young Cher singing this song also 😊
Original song by CHER in 1966 written by Chers then husband Sony Bono, later the same year Covered by Nancy Sinatra, Angelina Jordan at 8 years old did a phenomenal performance on Norway Got Talent of the song, great reaction thanks 🙏
I actually prefer Angelina’s version out of all 3 of them.
One Velvet Morning by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood.
Something Stupid is a duet with her father Frank that is more Frank than Nancy but I think such an iconic sound/song from the sixties. Should hit it.
Really added flavor to Kill Bill. I loved their use of it.
Nancy Sinatra didn't have the same vocal dynamics that her father had but her voice was just as pleasing to the ears. The softness of this version is more of a tear jerker than the original by Cher. Loved both versions and loved both singers.
Nothing short of a magical performance!
I think it was in kill Bill
I got this song the first time I heard it
Angelina Jordan at 8, sings this better than anyone. It was her first perfect song on Norway's got talent. It would be fun to compare the 2 versions.
I actually like Angelina’s version better. Especially the slides she adds in the middle.
Friggn Kill Bill vibes whenever I hear this song! LOOOVE that movie and this song was a perfect choice for it. 😊❤
Nancy Sinatra did quite a few duets with Lee Hazlewood, who wrote These Boots Are Made for Walkin'. Any of her songs with Lee would be fun to react to. Her vocal range is limited, but she had an excellent record producer (Lee Hazlewood, again).
Nice song. My favorite of hers is Sugartown. Also duets with her dad and Lee Hazelwood.
Some Velvet Morning . Cowboy/Psychedelic sounds from 1967. My favorite Nancy Sinatra song. Written, sings and produced by Lee Hazlewood.
writen by sony bono for his wife cher who altso sang it in 1966
and audio bullys mad a remix in 2006 you should take a listen to that (not react just listen)
I was a teen back then. And I've never even known about this cover version until now. Only knew Cher's original. Interesting.
@DougRayPhillips I never saw Kill Bill so I was not aware of Nancy Sinatra’s version. I also was only aware of Cher’s original. The way I found out about Nancy’s cover was when I heard Angelina Jordan’s Norway’s Got Talent versión and learned that she based it off of Nancy’s version.
By the way, no version or cover as good as original by Cher.
Cher's "tone" perfect for this song.
You can't listen to this and not see the bride scene in the Kill Bill movie, Tarantino only use past songs in his movies.
My favourite Nancy Sinatra song is ‘You Only Live Twice’, from the James Bond Movie.
You're not to know of course - but vocally and instrumentally this version is Cher's on mogadon. Sonny Bono was a great producer.
I had different thoughts about what the bells were for. Usually when a young woman sings about church bells it's for a Wedding. He left her standing at the altar.
Who do you think died?
Others have mentioned her duets with Lee Hazelwood. I recommend "Some Velvet Morning".
your know the song is cool, when you make the cut for Tarantino movie. this motive for the storyline of kill bill. i would not kick her out of bed either phil.
It was used in one of the kill Bill movies.
Cher does a good version of this also
Cher’s version is the original. It was a huge it.
This was actually Sonny and Cher who wrote this
Yes definitely do some Nancy among with Lee Hazelxood. Quite a few good duets. Also her duets with her dad, Frank-Something Stupid and with Dean Martin-Things.
Many Female singers have covered this song, but the two I like the best are done by Cher (written for her by Sonny Bono) and Nancy. You also might have heard Lady Gaga's version if it seemed familiar
If you've seen Kill Bill, you would have heard this.
This song is a full blown MOOD. A great song to follow up with would be Peggy Lee’s “Is That All There Is”
Please try and listen to Russell Morris, some of his songs "Wings of an Eagle" "Sweet sweet love" "Rachel" "Hello Mr America" "The Real Thing" he is still singing and still an outstanding Australian artist, you will love his songs, they are all great songs, you won't be disappointed.
Phil and Samantha- You are doing a terrific job with your reactions.I would love for you to react to the song”Pieces of Dreams” by Johnny Mathis. The Live version from the Tonight show. Hewas BarbraStreisand ‘s favorite singer when she younger. She has said of him :”There are good singers; there are a small handful of truly great singers; and then there is Johnny Mathis”. He is the third -selling recording artist of the past century behind Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. This is a phenomenal performance by Johnny. A Must See !! I am sure you will enjoy it.He received two standing ovations that night. Please react to it. You will be so thrilled you did.It is simply outstanding!!
Hey guys Nice reaction ❤
My sister was a cheerleader in HS. Her song boots became popular. My sister wanted tall boots to wear. At the time they were called Go Go boots. My dad said most emphatically no way in the sands of time. There might be some paraphrasing inserted there
Kinda sounded like they were going into that "On Broadway" song
I always get the impression that the relationship was one sided. It was only her who thought there was something going on.
My sister is a natural blonde and has always had dark roots.
If you are looking for primo Nancy Sinatra go no further than her theme to James Bond 007 film You Only Live Twice.
Perhaps try the Terry Reid version. Stunning.
Some Velvet Morning
I think Tarantino made it popular again
True classic.
Great song. Lots of great covers too....
Nancy Sinatra’s version is a cover.
I think this was on Hullabaloo, which she hosted at that time, if memory serves. Lyrics reference riding stick horses, so they were playing cowboys and Indians as kids, bang bang. And he left her at the altar for their wedding, not literally unaliving her,
I like Cher's original version much more. (Written by Sonny Bono)
You need to watch the duet with her father. Something Stupid!!
Liste to Cher version of Bang Bang.
So good
Originally a #2 hit for Cher in 1966 in the U.S. Nancy was not as a big artist like her father. She was active mainly from
1965-69 and basically a pop singer. She had some great duets with her songwriter Lee Hazelwood including. "Some Velvet Morning", "Jackson" and "Summer Wine" She was also an actress and starred in movies like Speedway with Elvis Presley.
You remember it probably from Kill Bill
Cher released the song first but Nancy's version is by far the best!
Check out Nancy and Lee Hazelwood… Vedra is my name.
Some Velvet Morning is the title…..”Phaedra is my name”❤️
In the movie kill bill
Definitely do Summer Wine as already suggested.
She was born June 1940.
"Hm, this song is too deep and slow for me to maintain attention... I'm a Lucky Charms eater. So let's talk about whether her hair looks natural" lol
Kill bill was the movie
Without her dad’s name she couldn’t get a job singing in bars.
Think “Kill Bill”
"Something Stupid" with her father
There is a few covers of the song.Notably Cher did it.
Cher's was the original, written by her husband Sonny Bono. Nancy Sinatra's is a cover.
" Sampled "
sonny and cher do this tune the best, in my opinion.
Cher recorded it solo but Sonny wrote it
This was released in 1973,written by Sonny Bono.
Here's the URL of the original(the tracking if off a bit):
ruclips.net/video/tyfWSa3So7U/видео.html
Cher’s original was released in 1966. Nancy Sinatra covered it later that year as an album track
I love the original by Sonny and Cher. It's much better. Check it out.
Kill Bill. Tarantino used it
The definitive version of the song. Nothing comes close to the beauty of it. Sorry Cher but this one is better. In my opinion.
I always like Nancy's version over Chers. But you need to hear Lady Gaga sing it.
Hello. Could yall please do a reaction to shut up and kiss me. . They are way too good not to be heard. There is so much great talent in this group. Top line acoustic guitars and many beautiful talented ladies in various songs many covers to choose from. ,A recent cover is Hey Jude. But their catalog is huge with every cover as good or better than original. They are way too good not to be brought to light. . If you check out there, RUclips channel, i guarantee you will hear something you love. They don't sound karaoke they put there own spin on every song.
Cher had the hit with this song, not Nancy SInatra.
Cher's original version is much better.
Why are you sitting on opposite sides of the screen?
Prefer the Cher version for sure.
It's a shame you guys didn't have the intelligence to understand the depth and meaning of this song.
Sorry but can't hold a candle to the Lady Gaga version.
Sonny and cher is better original
Can't relate never listened to hip hop and despise the excrement called rap
Terrible Song
Kill bill ftw!
gotta go with the orig by Cher
