Hi, you can proudly add the Mazda 2, DY to your video title. Mine broke down three days ago on Mallorca. When I got the error code the future of my car was at risk. So many weird stories about unsuccessful attempts from Ford and Mazda dealers. Today I followed your advice and THANK YOU SO MUCH - the car runs again :-)! I managed not to break the end cap by using a 14mm nut with sanding paper attached and a slow electric drill. The Mazda deleted all error codes automatically after a restart, so it is possible to do the repair without electronic tools. My biggest challenge was to loosen the upper "no. 3" screw from the unit. Your trouble shooting skills are excellent. All the best!
You're the man! My Grand-daughter's car had exactly this fault. Local garage confirmed a P0919 fault (amongst others) but didn't know how to proceed. I asked them to carry out this procedure and Presto!, her car is back on the road all fixed and they only charged me £60! Amazing service!! Thank you so much for your posting!
Had the same problems with my Durashift, nearly the same error codes. Did it exactly like you did in the video - and it WORKED !! Thank you for your help! Greetings from Germany ✌🏻
Thank you so much for making this video. The same thing happened to our Ford Fusion, stuck in 4th gear. With help of this video managed to resolve it in the same way. Thanks a lot!!!
Mate, what a great video. I was going to down the route of the PCM, TCM can bus wiring but you saved me loads of work and helped keep my customers car on the road. Thank for the help Mike
Brilliant vid, thank you so much. After watching this and having the same problem, I stripped motors out and found the shaft seized, cleaned it out with a 16mm reamer, grease and it runs like new, can even hear the gears click in on standstill, really easy and very cheap fix, took about an hour and a half, just a couple of small points, first, as I didn't have the ford software to hand, just a code reader, I marked the shafts position and the motor just to make sure they went back the same way, second, although it worked, I didn't use wet and dry to clean out bush, because the plastic is very soft compared to a metal one, so any abrasive material could easily impregnate into the bush, and possibly cause more problems later, hence using a reamer, but really good and helpful vid, thank you again, will save some people a lot of money, considering most garages just change parts now and now try to repair them.
Another no parts repair and a happy customer . great Fix . You will have to make up some proper 12 volt test leads in the van before you set yourself on fire. LOL. Thanks Mark

I wanna thank you for making this video. My 2007 Fiesta had the same problem and I followed this tutorial and it fixed everything. Hope I can use my Fiesta for a few years longer now. Great job!!
The plastic bushing is also the main cause and common fault of hard and sticking manual gear selection on the mk6 Fiesta range, Louis.. Fixed my St gears by fine sandpaper and regreasing the shaft and bushing.. Great diagnostic skills you have and enjoy watching your videos.. I wish you continued success and good fortune.. and would love you to sort out my Fiesta electrical problems!
Great video Louis, I have one of these turned up this evening from another garage, was just doing a little home work as not messed with this system before ( like yourself) Fault codes are different but I will be taking a look at amps on motors when activated see if this gives directions with diagnostic. Many thanks and keep up the good work.

These motors always stop working because of the corrosion problem. The corrosion can be stopped by lifting the bonnet every week and spraying the outside of the motors with WD40. I have done this for the past 5 years ! My motors stopped working at 30000 miles ( 5 years ago ) I have had no problems since then and I have now done 81000 miles. If the gears won't work use plenty of WD40 ( several times ) and let it sink into the motors for a few days and also knock the motors with a hammer. Hey, I am experiencing the EXACT same issue on my Ford Fiesta 2006 semi-auto. Before I get my hands dirty I'm wondering what does this motor sound like when you try to change gear/turn the engine on? On mine you hear four or five clicking and buzzing noises as the motor tries to operate.

@@hutson92 Hi, I eventually had to take it to a mechanic who specialises in auto-trans cars. He replaced the clutch actuator with a reconditioned one. But then about 4 weeks later almost the same happened again but this time no restarts after any amount of time. This time he said the gear selector actuator had gone. So I got that replaced and then part traded my car in for a newer car. It was becoming a false economy and I just didn't trust the car any more. So depending on how expensive replacement of parts are in your area I'd have a good think about it. Good luck.

Thanks for your video, very detailed.Just a quick question i have the same problem on my vauxhall meriva, but the gearbox is an easytronic, very similar to this.On youtube most easytronic suffer from clutch actuator failure...i took the car down to the garage andthey couldn't fix it.After watching this video i start thinking that i have the same problem:when the car died i was in 4th gear and after i was unable to restart it with usual F on dash.i just managed to bleed the system the engine starts in N but when i select another gear nothing happens except a grinding noise, then put the Reverse gear and car jump backwards and engine stops. Seems like a conflict between gear...but from garage fault reading doesn't show 4th gear is in.Any ideas or suggestions?apart kill the mechanic?😂
Lol I never worked on one of those... but... I would dismantle the actuators and inspect... that's what I have done on this... Hope that helps. Thank you for watching!
The clutch? I didn't work on the clutch on this car... But I have a video in that... As I had one that was the clutch... Just search my channel... You will need a scan tool capable of doing the bleed... Thank you for watching!
Hi thanks for the response. I meant actuator. I was doing what u did and it helped but now I have to bleed the system. I won't me able to make it without the computer even with pressure bleeding kit ? Thanks again for the video and all the help you are providing.
I am not sure what you are talking about... The gears actuator I work on, is mechanical... there is nothing to bleed... There is a teaching procedure to make sure that the gears are all engaged and synchronised correctly... but that is it...
Hello. I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Colt. I believe it has the same gearbox like this Fiesta. My problem is that when i want to slowly move the car (forward or backward) the car is jerking, kinda like when it's struggeling (like the clutch is not engaging fully), but if i step a bit harder on the gas, it is starting to move just fine. Is there anything called resetting/adapting this kind of robotized gearbox? It feels like the clutch is not engagin enough if i want "inching forward" the car and it is very annoying at parking or in slow traffic. I don't know if i should reset/adapt the gearbox or should i change the clutch? The car doesn't have any fail codes.... Do you have a tought on this?
Usually there is some sort of clutch learning/adaptation procedure... Never did that on a colt... You need to plug it in and check... Thank for watching and for your comment!
@@LMAutoRepairs you are really a genius at what you are doing, i admire every video that you are making, altough i am not a mechanic i find it very satisfying to watch you repair all the broken cars. Thank you
@@bh25jay Not really... unless there is a real problem, and the adaptation just highlights it even more... or, makes no difference... You don't need a Mitsubishi tester... any decent tool should be able to do it...
LM Auto Repairs I make diagnoses, and I think that I do't need a workshop, because all work I go to where the car is, I only have the laboratory, I think it is a good idea to make diagnoses at home, Your videos inspired me, I only have 25 years and study since y was 15 about this, give my respects
Appreciate your comment, and the fact that you found my content inspiring, is rewarding to know that! You are on the right track, mobile diagnostics are a great idea... a lot of shops fail on diagnose correctly, costing time and money, on parts that did not need replacing... The correct diagnostic can save hundreds... Good luck on you work, and thank you for watching!
Manuals are for those who want the strain of citydriving yet never stop at pedestrian passages because it's too much effort to operate the clutch. I've seen plenty. Besides, this is a gearbox which leaves you in control if desired. Automakers MUST design gearboxes bomb-proof to make them last till the car is written off. That's why I recommend Japanese models.

Some jobs you just can't get away without the correct tools...
Thank you for watching!
@@LMAutoRepairs went to the clutch actuator and the brushes were gone got some new ones and put them in also cleaned up the corroded grounds under battery tray been driving it about no issues yet been a 3-4 days re wrapped all the cables and put the cover back on

How can I bring my car to you
Where do you live?
Lol
I never worked on one of those... but... I would dismantle the actuators and inspect... that's what I have done on this...
Hope that helps.

I’m experiencing this issue atm, I just want to know is it difficult to remove the unit from the engine bay?
Not difficult at all to be honest...

Really struggling to remove the unit, is there any tips on how to do this or where the actual bolts holding it in place are?
I can't remember now from the top of my head... but there is just a few bolts... and the electrical plugs...

Who knows...
How do you bleed the clutch afterwards? I know it's the same fluid with brakes so should bleed them or there is separate valve for the clutch ? Thanks
Where are you based ? Do you cover London area ? If yes could you send me your contact info thanks.
No... not even near london...
Sorry...
@@LMAutoRepairs plug it in to a mitsubishi tester and try to make the adaptation?
It can't harm the car right?
I mean it can't be worst....
@@LMAutoRepairs you are really a genius at what you are doing, i admire every video that you are making, altough i am not a mechanic i find it very satisfying to watch you repair all the broken cars.
Thank you
@@bh25jay
Not really... unless there is a real problem, and the adaptation just highlights it even more... or, makes no difference...
You don't need a Mitsubishi tester... any decent tool should be able to do it...

You have a workshop in specific or travel un mobile workshop?
CRDG Automotriz
I do this as a part time on my driveway...
No workshop... I have a van, but not set up as a mobile shop...
Thank you for watching!
LM Auto Repairs I make diagnoses, and I think that I do't need a workshop, because all work I go to where the car is, I only have the laboratory, I think it is a good idea to make diagnoses at home,
Your videos inspired me, I only have 25 years and study since y was 15 about this, give my respects
This is a well known fault with Durashift EST.
Best repair ever - prevent it. How? Don't buy automatics. Manual transmission and control all the way.

👍👍👍
Manuals are for those who want the strain of citydriving yet never stop at pedestrian passages because it's too much effort to operate the clutch. I've seen plenty. Besides, this is a gearbox which leaves you in control if desired. Automakers MUST design gearboxes bomb-proof to make them last till the car is written off. That's why I recommend Japanese models.
Great video my friend
Thank you for watching Paul!
Looks like another bad design that going to become a common fault. Big Thumbs Up...

@LM Auto Repairs - Hello guys, is this how the problem looks like from the bottom of the car? My Ford Fusion with EST Durashift can't start, most probably stucked in reverse gear - once i move with the gear shift it looks/sounds like this: ruclips.net/user/shorts-JoN3wf6Tgg? Thank you for any ideas :)
Hi
Possibly... those levers should move as different gears are engaged... obviously stationary you can only go reverse, 1st and probably 2nd... either way should be movement and those are selected...
