You nailed my biggest gripe with the Adventure, or more P&O Australia, right at the beginning of the video. The obvious cost cutting and subsequent up charging. Whilst we still, overall, had a good time, for our 4 night cruise to Moreton Island, I don't think I'd want to do a longer cruise on her. The ship itself was quite lovely, the accessible cabin 11302 was excellent, and the crew quite lovely, the onboard experience with almost everything being up charged...even in the Waterfront, and lack of sea day daytime entertainment, soured the experience somewhat. Considering that Carnival are similarly priced on many itineraries, but offer more inclusions, I’ll certainly look into them for our next cruise, even if the decor of the Splendor is a pink nightmare :) Edit: My health prevents me from using any of the activities of the Edge.

Pacific Adventure is definitely a nicer ship in comparison. And one positive is the quality of ice cream, burgers and pizza is substantially better compared to carnival. But you definitely have to toss what’s more important to you when Carnival often have substantially more affordable fares. 😄

Another great video mate, It's so great to have an Australian perspective on ships that is honest but fair. I've been on her and her twin and definitely would go again!

Thank you Mark! I'm so glad you are liking the Australian perspective. Can't wait to post more frequently :D

I sailed on the Pacific Explorer in January 2024 and agree with many of these points.
The constant upcharging/hidden costs in the complentary dining areas was really annoying.

I have not sailed on Pacific Adventure but I did sail on the Golden Princess which was this ship former name. I enjoy this ship more than the new mega size ship due to not overcrowding, no need for appointments for events, and better passenger service. The many pools are a big plus for me that you won't find on the new ship. The up charging that you describe on P&O is something that I definitely wouldn't like. Princess cruise as well as carnival cruise basic cruise fare covers many complimentary cuisine but specialty dining not covered.

One area you didn't mention was alcohol. I arrived at embarkation with the standard two bottles of wine that all cruise ships allow couples to take on board. Wrong. P&O don't allow any wine, so mine was confiscated. At the other end of the cruise I assumed that like every other cruise line I've been on my duty alcohol purchases would be delivered to my cabin the night before disembarkation so that I could pack them safely in my baggage. Wrong. Duty free had to be picked up next morning in one of the ship's restaurants. Result - chaos. Queueing for hours, frayed tempers and then waiting more hours before finally being led off in small groups. How can an old cruise line like P&O get it so wrong.

I can't believe how many things cost extra!! Surely pizza is a given on a cruise!?

Thanks for the vid! Will be going to P&O Pacific Adventure in the coming month :) Could you please confirm what type of 'chargers' the ship lacks again? Would appreciate any tips on what is good to bring! Cheers.

There is a mix of AU ports and US ports. It was definitely sufficient. You might just have to share the outlet around if you are travelling in a group. Hope you have the best trip!

Great video ❤ our last cruise, last November was on the pacific adventure :) it was our second cruise, our first one was on pacific explorer on the first cruise since the shut down. We loved both ships, they are both beautiful :) we have upcoming cruises on resilent lady, quantum of the seas, pacific explorer again and carnival splendor between now and April 2025 :) we have caught the cruising bug ❤❤ we want to try as many different cruise lines and ships before working out our favourite :)

Thank you for the compliment Deb, I really appreciate your support. I'm so excited for your upcoming cruises. Youre going to love the Resilient Lady too! Such a spectacular ship. Trying all of the ships first is such a good idea too!

Do you remember the alcohol 🍸food prices? That's great video

Hi Rob, Sorry I don't have exact prices for you - alcoholic beverages were priced in AUD and similarly priced to what you would expect at a local pub. Food prices were similar. I wouldn't say it was expensive by any means. J :)

I was in the Pacific Explorer in January 2024 and your standard drink/cocktail was about $16.
