    Great video. A guy from FICMrepair/USA Diesel gave me a heads-up on this video. They sell the Hydra tuners for the 7.3L rigs too and that's a pretty solid performance upgrade.

    Any updates on the mod or recommendations now, since it’s been awhile and you have a boat load of miles on the truck now? Good video man.

    I am working on mine now, was clogged with rust.. Not sure eliminating the plastic recirculator chamber is a good idea - I think that is there for real cold weather, keeps the warmest fuel circulating within the chamber and heats incoming fuel that may be gelling.. possibly thats why that side valve is in pickup screen foot.. in case the screen clogs with gelled fuel at bottom of tank where its coldest.. Thinking just take out the two micro screens - why they have a screen on the return is a real mystery also?? I am definitely adding a filter by the pump, also you can buy small screen clear filters for mercedes diesels that will do what these micro screens did but you can see them and change them out easily inline before the pump. It was really a dumb idea to put micro screens in the tank, can't believe they have engineers actually design stuff like this..

      Did you fix it? If not it sounds like a fuel pump.

    it's a fuel pickup not a foot lol. and what does all this do for the truck. because you are eliminating some crucial fuel screens or foots in your case, that will now clog the fuel pump

      david martin thats why u add a in line filter

      david martin....the modification is done because the idiots at Ford put the filters INSIDE the tank.....so every time the filters get clogged, you have to drop the God damn tank to clean or replace them...they should have designed it with an IN-LINE filter OUTSIDE of the tank, and installed right before the fuel pump....

    Great video,Is it a power gain?

    • @innocuous_name7212

      +Jeff Anderson - No power gain. The primary advantage is that you are removing turbulence from around the float and getting better circulation of the fuel.

      Oh ok,I understand,im doing this as we speak Thank you so much.I also have another? Is there any way possible for oil to come into my tank from the engine due to bad injectors or any thing else? My fuel was very very black. What's your opinion?

    • @williamdecamp7343
      @williamdecamp7343 6 лет назад

      usually an indication of bad injector o rings, what about your fuel filter? Usually is black and contains engine oil.

      Most likely its from the diesel fuel, black sediment and slim accumulates/drops out of it.. Its dirty stuff, try treating it with an additive.. Also this tank is so big, lot of fuel sitting around long time in it.. Check the diesel you are buying from the pump, fill a small clear container, make sure its clean.

      Black in fuel is usually algae that grows at the fuel water surface.

    First Hutch Mod. I've seen, have same color F350 Powerstroke 7.3L Diesel. Are we omitting the filter all together inside the tank and relying only on the fuel filter at the intake? or are we installing an additional filter outside the tank on the underside of the truck before the fuel pump? Makes sense to add an inline fuel filter before the fuel pump here.. I have my tank out now due to the filters being clogged, want to rid of this crazy Ford design as well but don't want to clog up my new fuel pump! Please respond soon, anybody have any fuel filter mods outside the tank to under-side of truck please respond,..thanx, and happy turkey day, just hope im not doing this in a snow bank...lol

      Your best bet is to add an inline fuel fuel filter between the tank and the pump along side the frame. Most who do a hutch mod will do that. Hope that helps!

      innocuous_name thanx, for the quick response, was curious if you added an additional filter along side the frame before the fuel pump and if you didn't how many yrs. has it been and are you having any problems with fuel pump restriction or problems overall? reason why im asking is most likely wont get to the addit. filter installation until next spring 2015. thanx again, lady Di

      Lady Di you can buy a filter kit from cnc fabrication @corey hurtt for like 175.00 includes everything to do hutch mod 3/8 pipe fittings.
