Ive raced people with the torqueedo electric motor while on a pedal kayak. human burst speed is better than most trolling motors and as far as outboards. ive seen a few guys out there with 9.9hp motors. but they have to run an outrigger to compensate for the extra weight, and give a place to mount where they can reach it. and they arent going over 10-15knots anyways. kayaks are made for slow speed stability, not getting up on a plane... which is almost required for a small craft to reach 20-30knots.
