The only silver lining in a dying segment...reminds me of the old Cressida , Crown days❤️...only minus for me is the tech n that huge grille. Good Comfortable car.
I bought a certified Lexus es 350 a few months ago(29000 miles) for 35600. Why am i telling you this, because if you want Toyota's best version of this, find a used Lexus 350. The Lexus is extraordinary and Toyota dumbs down the Avalon hoping some will stretch to get a Lexus. For 35 grand i got a much better car and since i bought it certified i have two extra years of warranty added to the car. Never buy new always look for so called luxury models to lose a larger percentage of their value in the first two years than most cars. Take advantage of that and get a great car for a good price.
Christopher Calder, You're right at the beginning I didn't like the front grill I thought it was too big on the 2020 Avalon and the same for the 2020 Lexus but after a while you just learn to adapt.
I mean you could possibly remedy that by inserting some LED DRL bars in the bottom corners of the grill so it makes better use of the fake grill spaces lol
The only bad thing that I can say about current generation Toyota cars is that hideous front grill design. Whoever designed that should be fired. That said, the rest of the Toyota sedan (Avalon or Camry) is a rock solid, reliable car that will easily go 250K-300K or more miles if it gets just routine maintenance. Over about five decades, I've owned cars and trucks from all of the Big Three U.S. manufacturers and not one of them has been as reliable as my Toyotas have been. My next auto purchase may likely be an Avalon AWD--or a used Lexus AWD sedan.
I've stared at that grille over and over and over, trying to force myself to believe that there must be some kind of styling ingeniousness about it that my feeble, carnal mind just doesn't comprehend. But I've come to the conclusion that I need to quit trying to lie to myself and accept it for what it is: one of the funkiest, unorthodox front grilles in four door sedan history. It has the potential to be super slick if they would just reduce it's size about 30 percent, but apparently Toyota has chosen to be stubborn as an angry mule on this one. 4REAL
I'm normally an suv kind of guy but if I wanted a sedan I would give this a serious look. A local dealer has a white Limited Avalon Hybrid with a MSRP at $46,354 discounted to $40,921. Tempting.
Quiet?? Did you hear what he said about the 4 cylinder hybrid engine when the pedal is pressed hard??: I'm sure that thing sounds like an angry vulture, or something.
Way overpriced. Waiting for all the Totota fanbiy comments...For $45k I'm going awd Kia Stinger GT with the 3.3TT over this toad looking thing called the Avalon. Already looks ten years old inside and out. Toyota always does the bare minimum and its fanboys defend it because its reliable. There is more to a car than just reliability though as all cars are so much more reliable. I'd rather live and have fun than be safe and boring but that's me. Plenty of Toyota buyers much, much older than me that have given up.

I actually have a fully loaded, maxxed out Avalon Limited, and it's the best, the most beautiful car I've ever owned far and away.😊
@@4real637 nice, what color?
The Avalon is a borderline bargain. Personally, I’d go Lexus ES350 and skip the Avalon. I do love the Toyota V6 though & you can’t go wrong with either a Camry, Avalon or the Lexus. On year 7 with just maintenance costs to show for ownership they all become a great bargain. I won’t say that about any other brand.
Avalon is a bargain where insurance and maintenance costs are concerned. The ES is just a gussied up Avalon.
Love the honesty here. Toyota's prime pasted them decades ago
To start with, a 4 Cyl in a car this size should be illegal...except if it had Twin Turbos. Come on Toyota. The 6 Cyl again should have at least one Turbo. In addition Black cars with Black interiors should be illegal.
Are the sideview mirrors automatic fold?
For me, it's competition is a 3-year-old off lease Lexus.
I will get one of these in the future.
I own one 2007 model and trust me Toyota Avalon is gold standard ...i have 2016 CAMRY XSE as well but the drive i have with 2007 is fantabulous ..but its V6 with 3.5 L engine
That's one of the year model 3.5 V6 engines that had the notorious oil coolertube recall where most of the oil could be lost while driving because the gasket on the end of the coolertube that mounts to the lower end of the engine block was defective.
I think that was on many of the 2007 to 2009 Toyota 3.5 V6 engines.
Have a Toyota dealership CHECK YOUR
VIN NUMBER for the RECALL!!!
EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!!
4REAL!!
I just checked from the Toyota site and they said they give an AWD for the Limited V6 edition…so I’m a bit confused when you have a comment like “the only give the AWD with 4 cylinders
V6 is better. More power
Is this engine not available in the FWD Avalon?
Don't want a touring type car with a humungous center console, both wide and tall, boxing in the driver so that one can't move one's right leg. Forget it. This continues a horrible auto design trend.
Seriously? I just purchased a new Avalon Touring and this is not an issue unless you are shaped ike a walrus. 🤣 It doesnt extend into the footwell so what's your point?
@@kannermw " what's your point?"

@@TruthHasSpoken My right leg in my '19 has hecka legroom (and left leg too!)
Maybe go for a Lexus instead?
I an looking for more the Sport feel so I guess I will go for the TRD appearance package sadly its only looks ..
No V6 for the AWD? Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick with my Toyota Venza 2009 AWD V6 with 268Hp 2GR-FE engine.
Hands down the Avalon is probably the best bang for your buck sedan built today.....
Interior color looks like a rental? WTF is he talking about. It’s gorgeous
The Cognac interior is much nicer than the Graphite gray in the Avalon. The gray is probably in between a gray & white interior. But the Cognac brown leather interior is a nice tan/ saddle brown interior that looks like it's from a luxury car brand interior
I agree...I just ordered one 2 weeks ago with that color interior.
Just got a limited with the 3.5 and black interior.. absolutely love this car. And gtr’s honestly handle slightly better than this car, ask me why I know.... because I drive r35’s
I like my awd toyota camry better. I don't need really any more room than a camry. But I have the same engine and get above sticker on the highway.
Good review, I'm looking to replace my 120K mile S Class that is starting to show electronic gremlins and wear. I get 22 mpg on the highway, but closer to 25 mpg if I use 93 octane. My travel schedule for next year means I need to improve that quite a bit. The Avalon is a first place contender! Thanks
The only silver lining in a dying segment...reminds me of the old Cressida , Crown days❤️...only minus for me is the tech n that huge grille. Good Comfortable car.
Perhaps, if they'd offered it with the v6, it would have sold better and they might have thought about keeping it around.
The grill is way the hell too big. It's a tasteless design, as are most Toyota products these days.
I've stared at that grille over and over and over, trying to force myself to believe that there must be some kind of styling
ingeniousness about it that my feeble, carnal mind just doesn't comprehend.
But I've come to the conclusion that I need to quit trying to lie to myself and accept it for what it is:
one of the funkiest, unorthodox front grilles in four door sedan history.
It has the potential to be super slick if they would just reduce it's size about 30 percent, but apparently Toyota has chosen to be stubborn as an angry mule on this one.

I'm normally an suv kind of guy but if I wanted a sedan I would give this a serious look. A local dealer has a white Limited Avalon Hybrid with a MSRP at $46,354 discounted to $40,921. Tempting.
What dealer? If it's still on the lot I would be very interested in purchasing
@@NATOnova Long gone. The same dealer has little inventory now.
Its beautiful. How quiet is the cabin.
Quiet??
Did you hear what he said about the 4 cylinder hybrid engine when the pedal is pressed hard??:
I'm sure that thing sounds like an angry vulture, or something.
"Everybody is buying crossovers, yet this car still exists" yah Matt how well did that commentary age?😆😆
unbelievable ..!!! and very disappointing !! so when they make it 4WD . they make it on a four cylinder . what happened to options ?!
For Gods sake make every sedan a lift back. The traditional sedan with a trunk is useless
Not if you routinely carry items in the trunk you don't want thieves to see. Surrounding them with metal is better than glass.
@@paulw219 That’s what a cover is for. If somebody breaks into your car they’ll just pop the trunk
@@TheDoltonboy No reason to pop a trunk that's probably empty, but they GOTTA see what's under that cover behind the glass.
This setup is perfect. I wouldn't buy a lift back car for a daily.
Excellent Seinfeld reference! 2:08
Good luck with the engine and transmission lol
@@MikeRepluk going on three years and 90k mikes strong. Good luck on your incredibly boring like and Avalon. Congratulations on hitting the big 80 years as well. My grandpa just hit it himself and swears by his Avalon
@@MikeRepluk they have no transmission of engine problems guy. We get that you are a fanboy of Toyota. Just stop

I dont get why Toyota doenst sell these in europe where people still buy cars like these 😐
I got a 2021 xse, and i live it! First hybrid for me and met me say i picked the right one. Toyota are great easy as that!
I'm thinking of buying a 21 avalon XLE hybrid. How much you pay for yours?
I bought my 2021 avalon xse in July of 2021 and paid 38,500.00 out the door it included a 3% NC tax. I dont have the paperwork with me but i would say for the car itself i paid 37,000.00 I know today I would be looking at 42k to 45k for the same car! If you can get one for around 39k to 42k I think is a good deal! Am a car enthusiast lol Avalons are going up on value Carvana offered 42k a few days ago!
@@carloshernandez-nk3zv thanks for this useful info. I'm considering buying a red 21 avalon xle hybrid, with premium audio, moonroof, and nav package that's listed at a dealer for $38,800 (price without dealer fees and tax). You think that's a good deal? It's really difficult to find a 21 or 22 avalon xle right now
@@carloshernandez-nk3zv also, it has 7,000 miles
@@NATOnova $38,800.00 sounds fair, right now is almost impossible to find cars like the Avalon for a fair price. The Avalon is a great and comfortable sedan!
At 7:53 is reported that it has 16.1 cubic feet or 455 liters of trunk or boot space. This is the typical FAKE GOURMET sedan, the one that comes ready to be swallowed by an SUV. In the ranking of decent sedans (TOP 500 SEDANS) with a trunk capacity above 500 liters or 17.6 cubic feet it does not enter.
if it soaks up the bumps nicely its luxury lol
I prefer the Nissan Maxima
Me too
Mom is retiring as an exec at TMS so I'm debating getting a 21 TRD Avalon or a Lexus ES350F depending whether I'll be getting a discount with one over the other! What would you pick???
I’m assuming you have driven both. I like them both, but prefer the grill on the Lexus better.. currently I own a Lexus 350 AWD and it is a wonderful car. You won’t go wrong with either choice.
You mean $42k is not a luxury car price tag!? 🤦🏾♂️
Not for a full size sedan. Most mid-size regular brand SUVs are like 40 grand too
Luxury car brands are lexus, benz, bmw, audi, porche, caddilac, lincoln, genesis, acura, infiniti, aston martin, land rover and volvo.
Ultra luxury brands are Maybach, Rolls Royce and Bentley.
Supercar brands are lamborghini, ferrari, aston martin, alfa romeo, mc laren etc.
Hypercar brands are buggati, koenigsegg, mazzanti, pagani etc.
Toyota, ford, volkswagen these are considered as mass market car manufacturers which means this car brands are considered as normal.
This or the Passat? Which is better?
This
Toyota is more reliable than VW.
It will outlast the vw and maintaitenance and repair cost is cheaper.
Don't you buy a VW!
Different ball park.
What a snarky reviewer. Get rid of your little snicker, dude. It's very annoying!
I was considering Avalon over a Lexus.
This is disappointing.
Toyota's AWD system is probably not beefy enough for the HP of their 6 cyl.
I think he said that the AWD is only available on the 4 cylinder Hybrid. 😶
This car is almost perfect if it has Bi-turbo V8, AWD and 600hp.
600 horsepower....on an Avalon???
Come on....GET REAL.
You tryin to scare Granny out her girdle??😂
toyotas for life
0:32 that didn't age well as the Avalon is the next to get axed
The exterior is gorgeous but then you step inside 😐
Bargain. Comfort and high mileage awd gas savings. A little noise is a SMALL compromise
I take the Highlander V6. Or CPO Lexus ES. This is too many compromises.
It's basically the same exact car as the ES, without the cost. Lol
@@texan903 no, the ES build quality is better than avalon. But they're basically the same car but the ES is much more comfortable and relaxing to drive. And it is well made too compared to the avalon.
@@ClassierAunt With the latest generation, the Avalon is closer to the ES than before, the gap is closed. A well-equipped Avalon can include more standard features than a base ES. Plus, the Avalon costs less in maintenance and insurance costs, it's generally seen as a value in comparison to the ES.
I drove one of these and Hated it. I owned a 2010 Limited, and a 2016 Limited. I foolishly sold them both for an SUV. Ride and comfort on the 2010 and 2016 is far different than the 2021. Toyota should be ashamed. They turned a fine Luxury car into a sports car. Horrible ride, not comfortable and the Transmission is far from smooth. 20k would be too much for this car, unless your into a sports car ride. Then, this might be the car for you.
I noticed a simliar feel with the 2020/2021 camrys. I have 2006 camry. THe rental car i used, the ride quality was stiffer than my old 06 carmy.
Toyota was cheap, they took the 4cyl AWD put the same thing in the Avalon, Camry & Lexus ES..smh
Cross overs are boring. They monotone the auto industries.
This car has a small gas tank.
I'm not a fan of the Avalon TRD I'd rather get the Touring or XSE instead.
Exactly. The Touring is way better than the TRD. The lights are way nicer and it has the Lexus AVS so imo it drives better
Need more detail
This car is for a single male in his 30s. Especially with the slight tweak in the look for 2022.
Xle v6
Toyota is really desperate to keep sedans alive
What's wrong with that? Everyone doesn't want a suv.
They're smart to capture a market a market that many others have abandoned. I'd much rather have a sedan than an SUV, besides.

Dont like plastic
Then you need a motorcycle.
