Love your reviews. One thing I really want to mention about yourself/your reviews.... Your perspectives are accurate and your stay focused. Even after you have driven and reviewed much more exciting and powerful/fast cars, you stay in reality. You haven't become "jaded and spoiled" by super car performance. You still remember what is "good performance" for economy priced vehicles and/or everyday car buyer/owner experiences vs REAL driving-drivers and their opinions of driving/performance.

Great review! I have a 2021 XLE Hybrid, and I am in love with the smooth ride and low noise, pretty sure that the V6 is even smoother, however, getting 45-46 MPG most of the time (city or hwy), is VERY satisfying and impressive for a car this size, and 215 HP, are not disappointing at all.

@@wannabedal-adx458 I got really unlucky with mine. 2012 genesis 5.0. it's a bizarre car. I had it delivered 500 miles away because they're rare cars where I live in Texas. The Hyundai dealer I went to the other day told me it's "normal" for the $2500 cruise control module to go out. Ok. It's also normal for basically all the other electronics to quit working too?? Also, the vehicles bounces up and down like a magic carpet ride on some pavement and the wheel will shake a bit. And then on other pavement there's no shaking, no bouncing.....my wheel isn't cockeyed either, no alignment issue. It's just a super weird car!! And the acceleration is so much that the car is constantly killing traction. I even have to turn traction off if I floor it from 80 because it will hesitate and ESC will go off. Turn ESC off and punch it and no problems. I think the last owner tried to make it a race car. I'll try to do some runs with the ESC fuse pulled to show YT just how stupid fast it is. It needs new rear tires too. They're bald. And the throttle body and fuel injectors need cleaning. And it STILL runs like a demon escaping the pit of hell! 🤣 My engine replacement and water pump cost $12k, covered by warranty and my invoice from the other day of "recommended services," which I respectfully declined, was $11k. Now I'm getting the car repainted so that's almost $2,000 because the paint was shot when I got it.
I just traded in my 2010 100K miles Avalon XLS yesterday for a like new mint 2019 XLE Avalon Toyota Certified Used with only 39K Miles. Love the Apple car play , LED lights , modern amenities! I wanted to grab my last Avalon before they are all gone! It rides & handles so much better than my 2010 Avalon ! Luv the 8 Speed transmission too! Perfect daily driver over my 2021 F-350 7.3 Godzilla! Lol 😂
Thank you for the detailed review. I ended up pulling the trigger on a Limited trim one with the V6. It was hard to part with ma 2020 Mazda 6 Signature but this car, although not perfect, it's perfect for me. Engine and transmission combination is reliable and what I was going for. The size and ride quality of this vehicle is very comfortable its hard to explain. Thank you for your reviews.
I just test drove the XLE. The only shortcoming I found was the notable increased road noise in the back vs the front. I plan to purchase this year and will be adding 2-3 layers of sound deadening matt to back end and wheel wells.
I just bought a used 2019 XLE, so glad I did, sad to see it go! Going from a Camry to an Avalon, honestly the redesign for the 2019 model year came too little too late unfortunately
Another excellent review Kevin. On occasion when one is coming or going it makes me cringe on what my Lexus LS cost. Great sedan, I don't really understand why sedans are going out of style, but I am not young man, perhaps that's why I don't get it, I love them. Great car for the money, and the 3.5 motor in my opinion is a hall of fame motor. Interior is where the Lexus is worth the extra money, but for the money how do you go wrong. Keep em coming, your reviews are so good.
I've been a fan of that corporate Toyota V6 since I drove a Camry with it like in 2007. Smooth, quiet, bulletproof and now it's got both DFI and PFI so more power but all of the other goodies it already had.
Nice review! The Avalon is a very classy-looking car! I would also consider the Limited Edition Trim. I currently drive a 2004 Camry LE and the Avalon is just the kind of car I'd like. Looking forward to your Arteon review. Greetings from Dallas, TX!!
I secretly want this car. I impulse bought a 2020 VW GTI which is fun and nimble but....deep down what I really want is this big soft grand daddy Avalon.
I got my Avalon a 2003 in aug of 2002 it has 81000 miles and still going strong, replaced oil covers seals once no problems. just replace belts that were worn and made noise.
I appreciate your reviews. I feel like you cover things that are important to me personally . I am currently in the market for a new car. I'm looking for a mid size sedan. I have owned a toyota camry 2012 and I LOVED that car. For the past 2 years I've had the Chevy Traverse 2019 that was a hit or miss for me. Some things I loved and other things that were deal breakers for me. So, i'm coming back to Toyota, I am loving the XSE CAMRY and the fact that it comes in Red has me super excited. I love the new new sport hood and the look of the grill and headlights. My local Toyota Dealership has ONE is stock right now.
If you can afford get a lexus or avalon .You will forget your camry , lexus and avalon glides so buttery smooth .They are very very reliable no issues.
I own a 2020 Avalon limited hybrid. I am 35, 6’2” height and weigh 210. I am fit and have good posture and front seats in this car have given me nothing but neck and upper back pain. Hybrid powertrain is great, no complaints there. Great gas mileage and plenty of power. Its pretty snappy. My complaints are: Rear windshield has distortions in it, window switches on doors are barely held in place and come out easily. Rear doors, outside door belt molding on both rear doors make squeaky noise when opening and closing because it flexes and rubs on the outside gloss black rear window triangle trim. Plastic feels super cheap and flimsy. Front seats are beyond uncomfortable due to unnatural seat back curve (45degree angle) and head restraint is too far forward that it pushes your head forward and puts a lot of stress on my neck and upper back. It is unattainable to sit upright comfortably because you will be bent into a “C.” I bent the head restraints back to be more of a “flat” angle and that helped but still terrible comfort. Anything over 30min drive my neck and upper back is killing me because of muscle fatigue and not being able to sit upright because you are bent into a “C.” In order not to be bent into a “C” you have to recline the seat too far back and then you are basically sitting in a reclining chair, which is uncomfortable and still strains your neck and upper back. I have had this car for 8 days now and I am getting rid of it due to uncomfortable sitting position in the front seats. I even went on a 6hr drive and the entire time tried to readjust the seat to where my neck and upper back felt comfortable without any success. If you are planning on getting this car please do a test drive over 30min and you will see what I am talking about.
You and are the same, physically, and seat comfort was my primary concern. I test drove a Camry SE recently, and its seat, too, is what you described with the Avalon. What did you replace the car with? I’m in the market, and need a car immediately.
@@sherrikwhiteside6107 i ended up bending the headrest posts with a pipe to change the angle, which made it better. However, I got rid of it and got a 2018 Lexus ES350. I would also look at 2018 and below Avalon, the headrest looks less angled. However I am going to go back to GX460 because I’ve had it before and it was the most comfortable seating position with zero back/neck pain. The reason is because the GX is an SUV and the seating position is upright.
@@bb5op585 thanks for response. I test drove an 18 Lexus ES 350 a couple of months ago, and was very impressed. But, someone beat me to it. As tough as this search has been, that’s the one car that I regret losing out on the most. Thanks again!
I own a 2019 Avalon xle and I love it, I actually get up to 35mpg on the highway, and it rides like a Japanese Cadillac. I don’t see myself ever getting rid of it.
I currently own a 2016 Avalon. Previous owned a 1986 and a 1994 Camry. The Avalon is definitely a better car engine wise and interior wise. Wouldn't go back to a Camry. I would buy another Avalon or upgrade to a Lexus ES 350.
2016-2018 Avalon was the only range I was looking at. Since I owned a 2016 Camry, I was looking for something, bigger, newer, more comfortable, and with fewer miles. I ended up with a 2017 Buick LaCrosse Premium with about 26K miles on it (11 months ago). Couldn't be happier!!
The large comfortable sedan with decent power is a class of car I like . I do not even care if it's a strictly FWD affair . The XLE V6 and Limited V6 are the trims I like the rest I do not care for.
I bought a new 2019 Avalon Limited. It is the finest car I have ever owned. Its now 26 months old, no squeaks, rattles, vibration. Build quality is incredible. More features than I can use. My best mpg has been 34,2, averages about 22-25 mpg in midsize southern city. I appreciate its looks more and more the longer I own it.. Becuse of Americas obsession with trucks and SUV types, I was able to get a huge discount and bought it for $34,500 . This is a five star vehicle.
TOYOTA left something very different to the engine and transmission for the ES350 in terms of programming and smoothness something that no Camry nor Avalon have but I do agree with u in most parts.
The Avalon limited trim may come closer to the equivalent Lexus model... but I am biased. Had to replace my 2012 Avalon Limited last year with a 2021 Avalon Limited model.
Good for you, I'm jealous!! Looking to replace my 00' Avalon XLS, has been my absolute favorite and best car ever! It's got 252K on it and still drives fast and hard. The 3.0 V6 doesn't burn or leak any oil, everything still works except for the sunroof, the A/C has never been touched and is still blowing ice cold. Just a comfortable and easy car to drive. Need to upgrade to some new technology, looking at a 2022 Limited version. Wish me luck!
Its a nice car BUT I would never take this over my 2020 ES350 Ultra Luxury trim with ML Sound system. I just can't get over the substandard trim of the Avalon.
I honestly wasn't expecting this car but it's always cool to hear your thoughts on it, I watched some vids on the trd version so it's cool that this isn't as bad as that
It's shocking but true. After paying $5,000 over sticker price I finally received my 2022 Avalon Limited. It does NOT have wireless Apple CarPlay. It must be physically plugged in with a cable. This will prove interesting as the next version of the iPhone is likely to have NO connector at all. I do LOVE, DRL off on the light switch.

It needs new rear tires too. They're bald. And the throttle body and fuel injectors need cleaning. And it STILL runs like a demon escaping the pit of hell! 🤣
My engine replacement and water pump cost $12k, covered by warranty and my invoice from the other day of "recommended services," which I respectfully declined, was $11k. Now I'm getting the car repainted so that's almost $2,000 because the paint was shot when I got it.
Just recently got a 2013 model with 85k miles and great shape....its so beautiful
I was looking for a used Camry for a year.
Came across an Avalon -2008- low miles- for $5500.
Happy
Folding seats might be a killer feature for my wife, thanks for mentioning that
I just traded in my 2010 100K miles Avalon XLS yesterday for a like new mint 2019 XLE Avalon Toyota Certified Used with only 39K Miles. Lol 😂
Strange how this video was uploaded shortly before Toyota announced the end the Avalon. RIP Avalon, you will be missed
Timing couldn't have been better
Just bought a 21 Limited. Love it! Agree the V6 is the way to go. The hybrid is loud and no power.
What year did you drive?
Thanks for sharing Kevin as always bro. Now is the time to buy this bad boy.
Agreed
I just bought a used 2019 XLE, so glad I did, sad to see it go! Going from a Camry to an Avalon, honestly the redesign for the 2019 model year came too little too late unfortunately
Congrats!
Thanks for the review Kev! I wasnt expecting you to not recommend the 4cyl + awd version.
Stay safe brother! ✌️
Yea just get a Camry if you want an awd 4 cylinder from Toyota and save like 10k or more. Avalon should only be bought with a V6 that's the highlight
@@MeynMotorGroup I disagree entirely. Just purchased the '21 4 cylinder hybrid, ride is smooth as silk, fun to drive, 48 mpg with a 3500 lb. car!!!
I've been a fan of that corporate Toyota V6 since I drove a Camry with it like in 2007. Smooth, quiet, bulletproof and now it's got both DFI and PFI so more power but all of the other goodies it already had.
Yea very smooth experience
The interior center display is unimaginative.
Literally a few hours ago Toyota announced the 2022 model year will be the final Avalon. RIP.
Nice review! The Avalon is a very classy-looking car! I would also consider the Limited Edition Trim. I currently drive a 2004 Camry LE and the Avalon is just the kind of car I'd like. Looking forward to your Arteon review. Greetings from Dallas, TX!!
saw a 2021 touring trim in black in someone's driveway the other day, broke my neck it looked so good
I def think it looks bad ass
Gen 3 is still my Fav Avalon. Looks , interior space, CPM, reliability,
I secretly want this car. I impulse bought a 2020 VW GTI which is fun and nimble but....deep down what I really want is this big soft grand daddy Avalon.
Great looking car! Is this the Ice Edge color... or the blizzard pearl?
I got my Avalon a 2003 in aug of 2002 it has 81000 miles and still going strong, replaced oil covers seals once no problems. just replace belts that were worn and made noise.
I have a 1996 with 190k. Still going strong.
My complaints are:
Rear windshield has distortions in it, window switches on doors are barely held in place and come out easily.
@@sherrikwhiteside6107 no worries. It took me 3 months to find a good ES. Good luck on your search, you ll find it.
I own a 2019 Avalon xle and I love it, I actually get up to 35mpg on the highway, and it rides like a Japanese Cadillac. I don’t see myself ever getting rid of it.
Thanks 👍🏼
I am differently going to look into buying one 👌🏼
What u think about trading my 2016 es350 for a 2019 Avalon touring.
I find the Avalon is between the ES and Camry for interior.
I personally like the Avalon!! The Lexus ES is too "fancy" or "Luxury" for me 😋😁
I currently own a 2016 Avalon. Previous owned a 1986 and a 1994 Camry. The Avalon is definitely a better car engine wise and interior wise. Wouldn't go back to a Camry. I would buy another Avalon or upgrade to a Lexus ES 350.
Agreed
2016-2018 Avalon was the only range I was looking at. Since I owned a 2016 Camry, I was looking for something, bigger, newer, more comfortable, and with fewer miles. I ended up with a 2017 Buick LaCrosse Premium with about 26K miles on it (11 months ago). Couldn't be happier!!
@@wannabedal-adx458 I own a 2016 Avalon Touring, but I have to say that the 2017 Buick LaCrosse Premium is pretty damn sexy!
This Avalon is such a beast bro, but hard to justify getting this over a 15 Lexus gs350 rwd v6 8spd auto for half the price.
If I look at one of these the Touring and Limited would be on top.
Excellent video all the best from England 🤙
Great review!
The large comfortable sedan with decent power is a class of car I like . I do not even care if it's a strictly FWD affair . The XLE V6 and Limited V6 are the trims I like the rest I do not care for.
Great driving experience!
Are the differences alot between this avalon and es 350 as far as Smoothness and quietness inside the cabin or its hard to tell?
This is probably one of the best car out there!
It's good
I totally agree without a doubt!
Should’ve reviewed a Touring or XSE instead. Way better looking in my opinion, plus they offer a sporty look and ride
TOYOTA left something very different to the engine and transmission for the ES350 in terms of programming and smoothness something that no Camry nor Avalon have but I do agree with u in most parts.
It's all in the programming it gets progressively better as you go up the food chain and price
@@MeynMotorGroup Exactly
My favorite Avalon interior is still the 2000-2004 MY.
Toyota ends the Avalon with a magnificent Vehicle. It looks awsome. 👍.
I salute Toyota for making this so long! But this should have a Standard Sunroof Especially On XLE Trim😳
My aunt got a 2019 Avalon XLE I’ve driven before it’s easy to drive and it came with the 14 Speaker JBL system from the factory
I have one for almost a year. Its the best car i have ever owned. Better than camrey, or lincoln,
The Avalon limited trim may come closer to the equivalent Lexus model... but I am biased.
Looks ain’t bad bro especially the grill it’s shaped differently than the others but the car overall hasn’t changed much
Best review I have seen for my tastes.
Glad you enjoyed my friend
Its a nice car BUT I would never take this over my 2020 ES350 Ultra Luxury trim with ML Sound system. I just can't get over the substandard trim of the Avalon.
I really like the front end design with the massive grill, but not loving the side profile.
Yea I respect this grill it's certainly bold
Great review and I learned how to drop the back seats !
I honestly wasn't expecting this car but it's always cool to hear your thoughts on it, I watched some vids on the trd version so it's cool that this isn't as bad as that
Thank you my friend!
Cool young looking front end with a more grandmotherly rear end. They can’t lose their base demographic. Lol
Nice review
It's shocking but true. After paying $5,000 over sticker price I finally received my 2022 Avalon Limited. It does NOT have wireless Apple CarPlay. It must be physically plugged in with a cable. This will prove interesting as the next version of the iPhone is likely to have NO connector at all. I do LOVE, DRL off on the light switch.
What’s up Kev would you rather have this or a Acura RLX
RLX is like 15k more than this of course I would take the RLX at that point
Very nice to see the 3.5 V6 in this Avalon
I would get this if it weren’t for the LEXUS ES having that sick and luxurious interior.
Can’t wait to watch this one bro 🤝👍🏾👍🏾
Wow great video
I'm on the "for that money, I'll just get their Lexus versions" crowd.
Clearly. I assume that's why he doesnt talk about the price...
I never thought I would see a grill larger than the current BMW 7 Series, but wow !!
Oh yea BMW is still just practicing they got a long way to go before over throwing Avalons grill size
That is a beautiful car Toyota came with this Avalon. I don’t think it’s nothing like Alexis. I think it’s a Avalon.
I definitely give the Touring trim a double-take every time I see someone with it.
Yea looks good
The only reason I will/did not buy the ES was the lack of a folding rear seat... Absolute deal-breaker.
I think the Limited and Touring are better choices. Nice review, thank you.
We have a 14 Avalon Hybrid, gorgeous interior but, the driver seat is not comfortable, too thin bottom cushion,,, but we love it
