When Theresa (Zoë Saldaña) brings fiancé Simon Green (Ashton Kutcher) home for her parents 25th wedding anniversary, she's neglected to mention one tiny detail - he's white. Determined to break his daughter's engagement, Percy Jones (Bernie Mac) does everything he can to make Simon feel apart of the family, from running his credit report to locking him in the basement at night. But when Percy gleefully exposes Simon's most embarrassing secret, it leads to an outrageous series of comic complications that only goes to prove that with a dad like Percy Jones, father doesn't always know best.

Such amazing acting from Zoe and Bernie, they're really believable as father and daughter.
If she wasn't white would be more believable. But the scene is very good acted tho.
I find it ironic that everything Theresa told Percy about Simon’s boss made him realise the truth about why Simon quit his job, but she didn’t care enough to realise it herself.
I guess she's not old enough or experienced enough to catch on.
What is so great about this movie is that is shows real life struggles. Percy had to make sure Simon's heart was in the right place.
He didn't have to be prejudiced.
Truth is Simon should’ve told her about how his boss was not keep her in the dark about it. She has a idea he was mean but she had no clue why
He should've and I think he would've. I think he would tell her when all the tension from meeting the in-laws had died down. Maybe he thought that telling her this could lead to some feelings of guilt, like "my boyfriend lost his job because of me", and that would be something that he would want to avoid that week at least, or until he got another job, and then he could have that much needed conversation with her. Honestly is a very human, though incorrect, reaction. At least for a man.
A wonderful reconciliation scene before Percy hits the train station. He and Theresa recuperate from the dilemma where Simon admitted he didn’t tell her that he quit and everything that deteriorated the relationship
Excellent scene
