@@ThaRiddler at minimum max out a Roth IRA. Charles swab is what I use. You can invest 7000 this year and it’s tax free if you hold until 59.5. Every year you should max it out first unless you’re getting an employer match. You have a limit each year so get it in.

It’s already pretty much too late for you. You don’t have the time for the stock market to compound your gains or to pay off a mortgage. The hardest work is breaking that first 100k barrier, you should’ve done that before you hit 40
There’s always hope! I’m 51 and 10 years ago I lost my marriage, house, went bankrupt and relapsed on heroin after almost 20 years of being clean. I was sleeping in my car or on my friend’s floor. Now I am clean again, have a better job and married to a wonderful woman of 27. I have a great relationship with my kids and even my ex and I have made amends. We’re going to church every Sunday and me and my wife pray the rosary every night. My portfolio is at 50k and my car is paid for and so is hers. Life can change so fast when you stop living like a piece of crap🤷🏻♂️
He had some valid points but I'm 40 and I would tell every young person to stop listening to people who specifically put money as the goal. Just go after what you want to do in life full force, become good ar it and make it your career. The money will come and the harder you work, the more you will make. Don't chase money, chase your dream and you'll be happier. Your finances will come with more you put into your career.
I’m 40 this year. I started working at age 16. I worked 70+ paid hours a week, I only took off 2 days a year (forced closures in my country). I was extremely frugal and invested everything I could. Paid off the house in 6 years, paid cash for all items I needed. It all worked out well.
I inherited 2 million dollars from my grandfather. I lost most of it on women and partying. Now I’m 48. I started a business at 42 and have more money now than when I got my inheritance.

44 year old here. I started taking my health seriously only 4 years ago. So, I cut back, took up running as a hobby, and training for marathons. I have alot of fun doing that. Never too late to start
@mendipfox1650 Even blowing off one's 20s is major. That's 10 years of enacting a plan, investing, and getting a solid foundation for the years to come. I almost completely wasted my 20s and didn't have a viable plan until 26. At 27, the wheels were in motion. Now, 11 years later, I am STILL making up lost ground from my twenties. It takes greater strides at this point. If I have children one day, one of the main lessons I will teach them is to ALWAYS have a written plan at every age, revise as necessary. I'll tell them that the twenties are the time to make mistakes and still have room to recover if the mistakes aren't too big. Also, they will need to have an investment and entrepreneurial vehicle before adulthood. Time waits for no one, and I would want to instill lessons in them to last a lifetime and lead to great success. I know that becoming a parent at an older age will mean I have less time to impart this in them.

We shouldn't be making the same mistakes in our 30s as we did in our 20s, and so on and so forth. Learning from the failures of others is important. This saves us from the same heartache.
I’m 74 (75 in December) with a written budget and tracking my purchases. As a result, I’ve managed to save over 30K in a short period of time. It might be too late to do it all, but I’m gonna be alright. So, yes. You’re right.
34 married my husband is 42 we own many acres and just started a trucking company. My daughter is starting a nail salon at home. Using our taxes to buy mutual funds and in our Roth IRA. It’s a sacrifice but in our 50’s 60’s we will be ok, God willing.
I'm in my 50s & the only thing I would add to that is keep learning. You have to stimulate your mind as you age. Learn a trade as a hobby. It can help you & others. Learn a new language because it broadens areas of the brain in creativity. Learn to enjoy other people's culture as well as your own. Keep learning.... Start right where you are !!!!

I'm 43yrs old. Never was taught or knew where to start, regarding planning for my future retirement. At my "big age", I'm a child of immigrant parents, whom never taught me these things. I had a mental block. Should have started 1-2 decades ago. Thanks to YOU and one other trusted person, I'm now nearly maxed-out on my retirement 403b, and opened & maxed out a ROTH IRA this year (plus DCA'ing into an individual brokerage account). Fortunately (or not) I dont have kids, so I can throw tons of $$$$ into retirement (plus paying an additional $1k to mortgage principle monthly, to pay off my house in the next 4yrs). I'm seriously playing catch-up BIG TIME!

I am SO glad that someone nudged me at age 39 to think about my future. I had it all backwards and no one was there in my youth to pound these concepts into my head. It IS hard, but I figured out how to contribute 47% of my income into catching up. I'm 54 now, it's working, and I'll have a decent retirement now. If you are a young person reading this, PLEASE listen to this man. He's SPOT ON!! A small amount now means SO very much in the long run. It grows like crazy when you have a couple of decades to see it snowball.

I’m 46 years. Having kids in a home by myself was definitely a struggle. As soon as my kids were in good standing. I start saving like crazy but I been budgeting for over 20 years as much as I could. God bless.
I am 52 and finally woke up at 35 and started to heavily in index funds. Also bought an investment home and a primary residential home in Silicon Valley during housing market crash and live like a poor college student. I plan on to retire at 55 travel the world with my wife. With that being said, I wanted to give my 25 year old nephew advice of not spending 75k on a BMW, but instead invest that money into a mutual fund. Kid didn’t listen. I told him do not rely in the government to take care of him, but only he can rely on himself. I hope be wakes up before it’s too late. I am now teaching my teenage daughters about money management and hopefully one day they’ll thank me for it when they’re out on their own with financial freedom. Warren Buffet once said “I can buy anything I want, but I cant buy time.”
Glad to hear you're giving the next generation the advice that you wish you'd gotten. That is my plan as well, once they get old enough. The only question is 'Will they listen?'. We can only give them the information, we can't do it for them.
My father always told me to save as much as I could. He also told me it is easier to be poor when you’re young than when you are old. He is gone now and I’m so glad I followed his advice. It definitely was tough raising a family while still saving, but now in my 50’s I’m seeing the power of compounding interest take over. Your video is spot on.

Health is number 1! I’m 32 and I’ve whipped myself into peak condition and it’s changed my life drastically! I work two full time jobs. I’m in debt because of my baby moms and I regret everything I gave her except my child. The biggest lie ever told is that you can't take your money with you, so you need to enjoy it while you're young. I've seen people who spent all their money while they were young... they travelled, bought nice cars, motorbikes, etc... and now they have nothing to show for it and will still be working hard through their 60s. I sacrificed a lot. I lived within my means, paid my house off at 40, bought investment properties, saved cash, bought precious metals, invested in some stocks and I'm on my way to retiring by 60. I know so many people around my age, 40, that are just not doing anything intentional with their money. I try to tell them but they don't seem to care. No savings, no direction. Kind of sad.
I wish I started a decade earlier. That's my only regret. Investing has been rather rewarding to me and I've learned that getting a good return is very much attainable if you know your way around it.

I've gotten into a plethora of assets with $19k spread across stocks (options and futures) for the short term and Roth IRA, index funds, cryptocurrency and ETFs, for the long term. Now with over 91k in roi, I sit back and just reinvest at intervals while I handle my other businesses.

I was homeless, got addicted to drug's went to prison after some years, came out and Heaven came through for me in my finances too making $12,550 in just 1month in forex, rented my first apartment last week ,God has absolutely done more than enough

Great video. You’re so right about physical fitness. Some of my friends the same age (I’m 55) already have limited mobility. Can’t even walk a few blocks without having to stop, sweating, gasping for air. This is easy walking, too. No hills. Can’t carry on a conversation while moving, or have dietary restrictions and breathing issues because of health problems related to obesity. That’s scary to me. They seem more concerned about what others think of their posts on Facebook than getting out and having a nice conversation or sharing experiences. Like my dear departed mother-in-law used to say, “You have your health, you’re a millionaire”. Some of my high school friends have said that they will have to work until they drop 😢 Definitely look ahead if you’re in your 30s and 40s. It’s all up to you. You have to be your own hero.

"You don't own stuff. Stuff owns you." I didn't come up with that statement, but it is *so* true. Looking at a bookshelf full of books right now thinking "I don't read 95% of these. How do I get rid of them?" They are a burden, not an asset.

In terms of my kids one started college this year and opened a Roth for her last year when she had income at 17 matching 50%. This was not taught to me but learned and still learning. And as everyone else has said this man is spot on. And Health can not be understated as NONE of this matters without HEALTH. Working with elder over the past two decades the key to health are 1. Exercise 2. Eat food in moderation with more healthy than unhealthy ones 3. Don't smoke or vape 4. Surround yourself with good friends

Now im studying for cybersecurity to land a job where i have a desk job or remote one to help ease the pain from my medical issues. Be easier on your bodies 20s. Don't panic on getting a career but really ask yourself, what makes you happy and find a job or talent you have and learn how to make a good living from. School teaches you basic stuff. But really breathe and look around. You have time. But don't waste it enjoying the time you can enjoy it.

44 year old here. I started taking my health seriously only 4 years ago. So, I cut back, took up running as a hobby, and training for marathons. I have alot of fun doing that.

If you don't blow off your 20s, your 30s and 40s will take care of themselves. Just start slow and get in the habit, like 20 bucks a week.
@mendipfox1650 Even blowing off one's 20s is major. That's 10 years of enacting a plan, investing, and getting a solid foundation for the years to come. I almost completely wasted my 20s and didn't have a viable plan until 26. At 27, the wheels were in motion. Now, 11 years later, I am STILL making up lost ground from my twenties. It takes greater strides at this point. If I have children one day, one of the main lessons I will teach them is to ALWAYS have a written plan at every age, revise as necessary. I'll tell them that the twenties are the time to make mistakes and still have room to recover if the mistakes aren't too big. Also, they will need to have an investment and entrepreneurial vehicle before adulthood. Time waits for no one, and I would want to instill lessons in them to last a lifetime and lead to great success. I know that becoming a parent at an older age will mean I have less time to impart this in them.

@talesfromthetrenches9382 Failure can be good and necessary, but everyone has a limited level of risk they can handle. As we get older, we have less time to recover from mistakes. We shouldn't be making the same mistakes in our 30s as we did in our 20s, and so on and so forth. Learning from the failures of others is important. This saves us from the same heartache.

34 married my husband is 42 we own many acres and just started a trucking company. My daughter is starting a nail salon at home. Using our taxes to buy mutual funds and in our Roth IRA. It’s a sacrifice but in our 50’s 60’s we will be ok, God willing.

I'm 43yrs old. Never was taught or knew where to start, regarding planning for my future retirement. At my "big age", I'm a child of immigrant parents, whom never taught me these things. I had a mental block. Should have started 1-2 decades ago. Thanks to YOU and one other trusted person, I'm now nearly maxed-out on my retirement 403b, and opened & maxed out a ROTH IRA this year (plus DCA'ing into an individual brokerage account). Fortunately (or not) I dont have kids, so I can throw tons of $$$$ into retirement (plus paying an additional $1k to mortgage principle monthly, to pay off my house in the next 4yrs). I'm seriously playing catch-up BIG TIME!

I am SO glad that someone nudged me at age 39 to think about my future. I had it all backwards and no one was there in my youth to pound these concepts into my head. It IS hard, but I figured out how to contribute 47% of my income into catching up. I'm 54 now, it's working, and I'll have a decent retirement now. If you are a young person reading this, PLEASE listen to this man. He's SPOT ON!! A small amount now means SO very much in the long run. It grows like crazy when you have a couple of decades to see it snowball.

I’m 46 years. Having kids in a home by myself was definitely a struggle. As soon as my kids were in good standing. I start saving like crazy but I been budgeting for over 20 years as much as I could. God bless.
I am 52 and finally woke up at 35 and started to heavily in index funds. Also bought an investment home and a primary residential home in Silicon Valley during housing market crash and live like a poor college student. I plan on to retire at 55 travel the world with my wife. With that being said, I wanted to give my 25 year old nephew advice of not spending 75k on a BMW, but instead invest that money into a mutual fund. Kid didn’t listen.
I told him do not rely in the government to take care of him, but only he can rely on himself. I hope be wakes up before it’s too late. I am now teaching my teenage daughters about money management and hopefully one day they’ll thank me for it when they’re out on their own with financial freedom. Warren Buffet once said “I can buy anything I want, but I cant buy time.”

My father always told me to save as much as I could. He also told me it is easier to be poor when you’re young than when you are old. He is gone now and I’m so glad I followed his advice. It definitely was tough raising a family while still saving, but now in my 50’s I’m seeing the power of compounding interest take over. Your video is spot on.

The biggest lie ever told is that you can't take your money with you, so you need to enjoy it while you're young. I've seen people who spent all their money while they were young... they travelled, bought nice cars, motorbikes, etc... and now they have nothing to show for it and will still be working hard through their 60s. I sacrificed a lot. I lived within my means, paid my house off at 40, bought investment properties, saved cash, bought precious metals, invested in some stocks and I'm on my way to retiring by 60. I would advice my younger self to find a girlfriend/partner before 35, later and especially in 40s,50s nobody is left. I did not foresee that.

I've gotten into a plethora of assets with $19k spread across stocks (options and futures) for the short term and Roth IRA, index funds, cryptocurrency and ETFs, for the long term. Now with over 91k in roi, I sit back and just reinvest at intervals while I handle my other businesses.
To me, investing is not worth it and I know that's the same mindset holding me back from taking a step forward in my finances. It’s all gambling.

Great video. You’re so right about physical fitness. Some of my friends the same age (I’m 55) already have limited mobility. Can’t even walk a few blocks without having to stop, sweating, gasping for air. This is easy walking, too. No hills. Can’t carry on a conversation while moving, or have dietary restrictions and breathing issues because of health problems related to obesity. That’s scary to me. They seem more concerned about what others think of their posts on Facebook than getting out and having a nice conversation or sharing experiences.
Like my dear departed mother-in-law used to say, “You have your health, you’re a millionaire”. Some of my high school friends have said that they will have to work until they drop 😢 Definitely look ahead if you’re in your 30s and 40s. It’s all up to you. You have to be your own hero.

The key to compound interest is to start early. The earlier you start , it pays you. The later you start you pay it.

Started in mid twenties, now 48 and definitely glad I did, only regret was not staying more fully invested, but money is equal a numbers and mental game that one wrestles with over time. In terms of my kids one started college this year and opened a Roth for her last year when she had income at 17 matching 50%. This was not taught to me but learned and still learning. And as everyone else has said this man is spot on. And Health can not be understated as NONE of this matters without HEALTH. Working with elder over the past two decades the key to health are 1. Exercise 2. Eat food in moderation with more healthy than unhealthy ones 3. Don't smoke or vape 4. Surround yourself with good friends

Im in my late 30s. I finally pushed myself a few years ago to get back into IT again. Now im studying for cybersecurity to land a job where i have a desk job or remote one to help ease the pain from my medical issues.
Be easier on your bodies 20s. Don't panic on getting a career but really ask yourself, what makes you happy and find a job or talent you have and learn how to make a good living from.
School teaches you basic stuff. But really breathe and look around. You have time. But don't waste it enjoying the time you can enjoy it.
