This is what should be trending instead of all the Blake Lively drama. Very impressive, deeply touching. I found myself teary-eyed at times during the conversation. Just wow 👌

this is a great example of the conversations that are supposed to be happening around the theme of this movie. how to break the pattern. the story is called "it ends with us". how odd that the other celebrities surrounding this movie are talking about flowers, and talking themselves around the difficult conversations and the dv theme of the story. and odd that the author doesn't seem to understand the important message of her own story.

It seems like there is a difference between people in films who want to help us change the shortcomings in society versus a kind of Hollywood industry that prioritizes making sure people are just dumb consumers who don't think for themselves or for betterment of this world. Are you going to look and reflect in the mirror, or are you going to stay blind? That's a question we need to maintain throughout life.
Thanks for this discussion and I admire how it was filmed way earlier than It Ends With Us was released.

I grew up in an very abusive home which ended in disaster. I’m very aware of the signs. I have left toxic relationship. I’m worth better. However, I never had a role model of how to be in a relationship. I’m lacking. And I am now aware of the harm that was done to me. As a child who shared the beating with my mom. I had no choice. I couldn't leave. I asked her, pleaded she leave. When she finally did, the damage was done.

Wow. What a great chat. I resonated with so many things. Feeling pity for a partner who was damaged and feeling grandiose for being the "strong one" who was going to fix him. Really eye opening.
Thanks as always for a great discussion

Watched the movie this past Wednesday night with my closest girlfriends…..and WOW! I saw so many similarities in Ryle, to my husband. I was speechless and extremely affected by the movie. Finally, it gave me the courage I needed to get out, find a safe space with family, and seek help from my abusive relationship to make true change. Profoundly transformative! 🙏 🙏 🙏 Thank you so very much!!!!

Justin doesn't understand why men abuse. An abuser would never watch this film and think that they need help. He would say it was the woman's fault. Why don't these women say this?? Abusers may have experienced trauma but this is not WHY they abuse. Has no one heard of Lundy Bancroft and his work with abusers? How could this organisation put their name behind this movie. I'm so confused. They made the abuser look like a victim of trauma.

At the end of the day abusers are victims of trauma. Maybe they don't abuse because they have traumatic experience, but because they don't know how to handle their emotions which are the aftermath of trauma. Everyone handles traumatic experiences differently and that this is one of the worst ways to handle it. But that doesn't mean that you can't learn how to handle it the right way. In the end abusers are humans too, they live for the first time as well and if you never had anyone show you how to handle emotions the results could be fatal. In this case fatal for your relationships and the closest people around you. That doesn't trivialize abuse, but it shows them that they are not completely hopeless cases and opens the door for change.

Also, they say that the women are at fault because it is easier to blame everyone else than take responsibility. A sign, that they can't handle the bad conscience and make themselves believe that they are not at fault, which shows that they can't handle big emotions. In this case the movie is not produced for abusers to get a sudden awakening. It's for abusers that already realize it, even subconciously and just need a little push in the right direction.
